Despite the sleep she had, she felt restless.

She woke still in Dimitri's arms, yet as she looked at him he too was asleep, his face looked more relaxed and yet his hold on her didn't stray, he held her tightly into him occasionally moving as she did so he could continue holding her.

Eventually she could no longer just lay there, her mind was running a million miles an hour, each time she closed her eyes she saw mikhails bloody face, the soulless eyes.

Before she could move, Dimitri jumped up stake at the ready as banging from his door grew louder and louder.

"Katherine" victors voice shouted through the door

"Victor you cannot be in this wing" a guardian spoke

Dimitri opened the door and was instantly pushed out of the way, victor looked at her and growled

"What did you say to my daughter" he growled as he stalked towards her only to be stopped as Dimitri stood in front of her shielding her from the angry man.

Kat looked at victor before she smirked, the quite innocent girl victor had know all his life seemed to disappear right in front of him and instead was replaced with a woman who was out for revenge

"Your daughter was in love with mikhail, and you not only took him from me but you also took him from her" she growled "I told her the truth, I told her that her father was a stuck up moroi who cared very little about those around him, what she did with that information is nothing to do with me" she smirked as she stepped towards him gently touching Dimitris arm as she stepped around him

"You took my brother from me, you are one of the reasons he is gone, I am going to ruin every single member of that council who thought this was a good idea" she whispered her voice growing deeper with anger "I will burn the moroi world to the ground if I have to victor dashkov, may vlad have mercy on you" she growled as she pushed past him and out of the guardian dorms.

She didn't know where she was going but every where she looked she was met with eyes filled with sorrow and some filled with guilt, every person looked at her with pity and she hated it.

She rushed down to the edge of the wards, where the cabins sat, the same cabins in which her and mikhail had spent many Christmas'. When the Dragomir couldn't take all four of them away from Christmas she would always volunteer to stay because at least she would have him and on some occasions Alberta too.

As she stopped infront of the cabin they had spent so much time in she froze as Alberta sat on the steps of the cabin.

"I figured you'd come here at some point" Alberta spoke, her voice full of worry and guilt

"I don't want to talk to you" she muttered

"I know so just let me talk" Alberta whispered "I didn't want this to happen Kat, I didn't think this would happen, it was one stragoi, one that wasn't strong, one that had been brought in as a test subject, I figured I'd let the royals do their little experiment and then they'd see that our novices could take on stragoi but still needed some training" she sighed as she stood up "I didn't expect anyone to die"

Kat scoffed "oh really, you let a hungry stragoi roam around and didn't think it would be a danger" she snarled

"Kat.." Alberta started

"No, it's my turn to talk" she whispered "you and those royals dictated something that should have never happened, those novices had no god damn experience, a novice almost died. A royal moroi was caught in this, the last Dragomir, her death would have been on your head. Oh but you know it's okay no novices died, no royals died just a guardian right" she whispered tears coming to her eyes again "just a guardian" she whispered her voice breaking more "he wasn't just a guardian to me, he was my brother, my best friend and the only family I had for so long, I am so sick of people saying we should give our lives for selfish moroi, mikhail had a life too Alberta, he had a family, for god sake he was in love and now, well now what, the girl he loved is gone, ran when she found out her father had a part in her lovers death"

"Sonya left" Alberta asked, shock falling onto her face

"Yeah, she did, and I think that's good for her because at least now she won't die too" she growled "this stupid school brings nothing but death, first the Dragomirs, now mikhail, who's next Alberta, me, Dimitri" she asked "when will our lives finally mean something, and you, the woman I thought of as a mother for so long, now I want nothing to do with you" she whispered

"Kat please" she whispered the other woman's eyes filling with tears

"No, I can't look at you and not see him as a stragoi" she whispered tears streaming down her face

Alberta looked at her "I'm sorry Kat" she whispered before she walked over to her and gently dropped something into her hand before she walked away

As Kat looked at her hand tears seemed to come faster, in her hand sat the necklace that she had given mikhail many Christmas' ago, each year orphans of st.vlads were given enough money to buy toiletries and sometimes new gym equipment, for two years she used old boxing gloves as she saved to buy him this necklace. The necklace consisted of two metal plates with dates on, one date the day that her and mikhail met and the second the day that she had given mikhail the necklace, the hole thing looked almost like dog tags.

The necklace that once sat around his neck now lay in her hand the clasp broken, she knew he never took this off, no instead it had been torn off by the murderous stragoi.

She didn't know how long she stood staring at the necklace until a hand grabbed her.

She spun around and pushed the person against the side of the cabin her arm at their throat, as her eyes rose she took in the brown eyes she had began to get so familiar with.

Dimitri stared back at her, his eyes full of worry for her but he didn't move, he let her hold him against the side of the cabin letting her know she had all control.

"Katerina" he whispered softly "why don't we go back to my room" he spoke

She shook her head "I feel trapped in that school, everywhere I look someone looks at me with pity, they look at me like I'm going to break. I don't want to prove them right"

"Your not going to break Kat" he whispered slowly bring his hand to her face as he gently wiped away her tears

"Yeah I am, because I can't deal with this anymore, I can't Dimitri" she whispered "everywhere I look I have memories of him, but then when I see the royals I want to make them pay Dimitri, who thinks this is ever a good idea" she whispered

"I don't know Kat" he mumbled as he gently grabbed her hips and pulled her closer to him

"I wish I could make this better for you, I wish I could make this better for you, I even wish I could have been in his plane instead..." he was going to say more but he couldn't as she cut him off

"No" she mumbled her voice hard "no, not you, you have a family Dimitri, a family back in Russian that needs you, he just had me" she whispered "I wouldn't wish this on anyone and I know he would have rather been turned and then killed rather than having to watch anyone else go through that. Please Dimitri I can't bear to think of loosing you the same way" she mumbled

He looked at her for a second before he held her tightly tucking her into his jacket as she shivered

"I have you" he whispered "I'm not going anywhere" he mumbled, the conviction in his voice made her want to believe him but right now she couldn't.

"dorogoy" he whispered as he held her tighter, "I will do anything to help you okay" he mumbled

She nodded and laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes. She knew from this moment on things would just get even more difficult.
