vanraj :

Amit sat with a raised brow, looking mildly impressed.

"Well..", he said taking back the papers I had just signed.
"I am lowkey impressed. I thought you were going to throw attitude and you threw a sacrifice at me. Wow.", He said smiling.

I forced a smile and stood up.

"I hope you remember your promise.", I stated, it came out colder than expected.
He sat back on his seat, crossing his arms before him with a satisfied smirk.

"Obviously. I had lost before you five years back when Rittika went off to get you for herself. And guess what..", he raised the papers, "I won finally."

"So it's personal.", I said.
He kept the papers back and stood up.
"You know, I wanna show you how I keep my word.", He said.
He turned towards the door.
"Come with me.", He said, as I followed him out.

anupamaa :

I finally sat back, absolutely exhausted. Dancing all day was definitely a tiring job.

The class was getting dispersed.

Just then Amit walked in.
Followed by him.

Even after my requests, he had chosen to give up on his dreams for mine.
And by now, he had probably done it.

"Stop everyone. There's an announcement.", Amit said.
Everyone stopped, as I stood up too.

He glanced straight at me.
In his eyes I saw evil.

"This madam, Anupamaa Joshi, head trainer...am I right?", He asked with mockery.
I immediately glanced at Vanraj, his hands were clenched in a fist already.

He looked at me.

Don't.
I spoke through my eyes, and I knew he understood the language.
Years if togetherness had taught us this.

"You know what she did?", He asked smiling menacingly,
"She tried to bribe me."

"What nonsense?!", I blurted.
"What? Now don't act innocent honey. Didn't you make your poor boyfriend lose his job so that I could get bribed—"

"Stop talking crap!", Vanraj shot at him.
"Oh..", he turned towards Vanraj with sympathy laden voice, "Please.. I understand you pain.. you don't need to act—"

"You—"

His eyes met mine, and he paused.
Amit turned towards me.
I felt tears itch my eyes.

My beloved's sacrifice turned into bribe.
I just couldn't take it.

But nonetheless, I drew in a cold breath gulping it all.
I could very much see where this was heading.

"I cannot have a woman like you in my Academy.", I stated, with a smirk now,
"You are fired.", He said calmly.

I felt a tear roll down my eye, this one was of anger.
I had never cried of anger except the time Vanraj and his mother had stopped me from coming to America.

"You cannot frame things your way—", Vanraj tried to say.
"Oh please.. I am saying only the truth.", Amit lied.
This was his victory.

I drew in a deep breath.

I had an instant urge to slap him, throw him to the ground and beat him up,
But I also knew that would get me nothing except the prison.

So I stood in silence.

He raised a brow.

"Didn't you hear?", He asked,
"Get out! You are fired!"

"But sir—", Rebecca tried to say but was shut off immediately.
I glanced at Vanraj.
He was controlling his temper with magnanimous efforts.

Just allow me and I will beat him to pulp.
He seemed to say.
No. If we have to win this one, we have to act with our mind.
I tried to say.

He simply turned and stormed out.
I glanced at Amit who seemed very satisfied with himself.

"Why?", I asked him softly.
He smiled his devilish smile.
He whispered,
"Because I am a sadist, honey. Now get out with your jobless husband. Anyways he was pretty good for nothing. Look honestly it was just me, personally taking my revenge on him because my wife left me for him.. but this, what I did to you, os Rittika's idea.", He seemed unrealistically happy.

"So bye bye.", He said.

I said nothing as I slowly strode out.
I realised either way, this would have happened.

I walked out of that building to find Vanraj Shah,
Smoking.

His sacrifice was worth nothing now.
I took a step or two, I noticed the moisture in his eyes.

He glanced at me and then looked away.

I went and stood beside him.
There was silence for moments and then he said,
"So? What now? India?"

I looked at him with a raised brow.

"I thought you were the man who never lost.", I stated.
"He's into the underworld. I can't risk everything.", He said.
"So you could do something to stop him?"

Vanraj looked at me.
"I don't want to turn to my dark villan side anymore.", He stated simply.
"But I want revenge.", I said, I glanced back at the building.

"When did you turn into a normal person from the sacchai ki devi?", He asked.
"The day you turned into my dream man.", I replied.

I turned towards him.
He looked at me.
It was strange, we both had lost our jobs, and yet there wasn't exactly hopelessness or hollowness.
There was a hope that glimmered, that we'd get out of here.
Together.

"Can you give him the taste of his medicine?", I asked him softly.
He looked away at the road.

"If you approve of my evil side, and stand by me, I might have a plan.", He said drawing in a deep puff before throwing the cigarette down.

"I approve of it. Only this time.", I said, I was pretty sure this time.

His lips curved into his classic evil smirk.
Ah, I knew it too well.

"Well then..", he said, settling his shirt's collar,
"Vanraj Shah is back."
