vanraj :

We stopped before my apartment.
She literally jumped off the car seat and rushed into the building.

I liked the way my life has just gone hayway and my ex had showed up literally in the middle of the road.

Nonetheless,
I got off the car.
My gaze went upwards.

Anupamaa stood staring down at me, obviously misinterpreting the situation.

I am doing pathetically well in the notice period she gave me.
Wow.

I drew in a deep breath.
I indicated her to come down to my apartment, but all she did was make a face and storm back into hers.

But that doesn't mean she wasn't coming downstairs, oh she would, but she also had to let me know she was annoyed.

Women I tell you.

I walked into the lift and to my floor.
Rittika stood before my door impatiently.

"Before you go in.", I said loud and clear,
"Kindly tell me why are you on the run?"

"Can we please talk inside? Please.", She said.
If this was the old Vanraj, I'd probably be opening the door with violens playing in the background and my heart singing,
Aaye ho meri zindagi mein tum bahar banke,
But nope.

I was in no mood to help her in any way.
Call me a bad person, I don't care.

Just then I heard the anklets.
Anupamaa tip toed downstairs.

Rittika immediately saw her and ran to her.
"Please.. please help me.. I-I am in genuine trouble..", she said, almost sobbing.
Anupamaa looked at me with what looked almost like a death glare.

"Open the door, Mister Shah."

It was a command, by the way.

Keeping my five hundred tonne ego aside, I finally unlocked the door.
Anupamaa held Rittika's hand and took her in.

I am going to build a temple for this woman.
She legit brought her new boyfriend's traumatizing ex-girlfriend to his house.

Sighing, I walked in.

"Ac-Actually there are goons behind me.. they will kill me-", Rittika stammered.
Anupamaa made her sit on the dining table chair and filled her a glass of water.

"Are you in Mafia business?", I asked casually.
I just couldn't feel any emotion for her.
Not even the basic human ones.

"What?! No.. I-of course not, Vanraj! Are you stupid—"
"I am not.", I stated coldly.
She was used to calling me things, but I was not used to hear anymore.

Anupamaa looked at me.
Can you for god's sake behave nicely with her Mister Shah?

"No I can't.", I spoke out as she just sighed.

"Rittika but then what has happened?", Anupamaa asked as understanding as ever.
"My ex husband.. he-he is into all that."
"Excuse me.. he is into what?", I asked with a raised brow.

"Mafia business."

I stated at her, in silence.

She looked down wiping her tears,
"And they are behind me.. because I have information.."

"Anything else?", Anupamaa asked, I heard her voice tremble.

Rittika looked up, guilty.

"And they have traced Vanraj.. they have been tracing him anyways because a lot of funds are drawn from his company.. I wanted to tell him—"

"Cut the crap. What the heck is going on?!"

"Vanraj you are under threat."
