Cool Off

I went to some back to school shit the other day with my mom and little brothers, and it was hot as FUCK. So I thought why not make a one shot about it being hot.

A hot summer day, Pico was at work and wouldn't be back until a hour so the two are inside the house trying to cool off. Ray's 2.

"There we go." Ben set the fan up and sat on the couch.
"Actually I can barely feel that." He turned on the air conditioner.
"...It's still hot as hell." He sighed.
Ben heard Ray crying so he went to the kitchen.
"Hot! It's hot!"
"I know baby." He picked Ray up and rubbed her back.
He looked at the bowl of fruit on her tray.
"Want your fruit?"
"No no! Ray hot, make it go away!"
He went to the living room and sat down with Ray in his arms, trying to calm her down. Whenever Ray was hot she would cry for some reason, the two don't know why. And since it's the middle of summer, this made it worse to the point they started worrying if something was wrong with her.
"Do you feel the air?"
"Hot!"
"Alright I'll turn it down." He stood up and turned the temperature down.
Ben looked at her hoping she would be ok now but Ray's sad little whimpers were all he could hear.
"Ice!" She cried.
"It's not frozen yet, I'm sorry sweetie." He picked her up.
"Ray no like hot.."
"I know, shh.." He rubbed her back.
Ben heard his phone rang and took it out of his pocket, then answered.
"Hi Pico."
"Hey Softie, is everything ok?"
"Ray's still hot even though the fan and air conditioner is on, I'm worried."
"Yeah me too, I hope there's nothing wrong- dammit I gotta go. I'll see you guys soon, love you."
"I love you too."
They hung up.
"It's going to be ok." He pressed kisses on her face.
The more she cried the more he got worried. Ben started thinking of something he could do to make her feel better, then he remembered the pool they brought the other day. Ben stood up and put Ray in the playpen.
"No daddy don't leave Ray! Ray sorry for annoying daddy and papa, won't cry no more!"
"It's ok, I'm not leaving, you're not annoying us at all. Daddy's got a surprise for you in the backyard." He smiled.
"O-Ok." She sniffled.
He pat Ray's head and kissed her cheek, then opened the closet and grabbed the box. Ben went to the backyard and took it out of the box.
"It's even hotter then before, I'll just set the fan out here."
After setting the pool up he put water in and some rubber ducks. Ben went back inside and picked Ray up.
"Outside?"
"In a minute, we got to get you ready."
She looked at him confused.
"You'll see." He opened the gate and went upstairs, going to her room.
Ben opened her drawer and took out a bathing suit for Ray.
"Let's get you changed ok?"
"Ok."

When he got done changing her they went back downstairs.

"You look so adorable."
"Ray does?" She tilted her head.
"Mhm, you're our little cutie pie." He pressed millions of kisses over her face.
She giggled wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Yay, there's that smile." Ben nuzzled her cheek and grabbed some towels.
He took her outside and brought the fan out to.
"Hot! Ray's hot!"
"It's ok baby don't cry, look." He sat her in the pool.
Her little whimpers stopped when she felt the cool water around her.
"Ducky.." She giggled and played with it.
Ben sighed with relief and filled the water gun up.
"How does the water feel sweetie?"
"Good." Ray filled the rubber ducky up and sprayed Ben.
They both laughed.

Minutes later Pico came through the front door and closed it behind him.
"Holy shit that feels so much better." He plopped on the couch letting the air hit him, Pico was so focused on the air that he didn't notice that the two weren't in here. He looked up and saw the fan sitting out of the door, he got up and went to the backyard to see Ray happily playing in the pool and Ben recording the toddler's actions. He looked up at Pico with a smile.
"Welcome back Toughie."
"Thanks-"
"Pew pew!" Ray sprayed Pico with the water gun.
"Aw Ray, you're so silly." Ben laughed.
Pico also laughed and sat on the porch, giving Ray a kiss on the forehead.
"Are you feeling better?"
"Yes, Ray happy." She smiled.
"Glad to hear that baby." Pico pat her head.
Ray giggled and went back to playing, Ben got up and sat next to Pico, leaning his head on his shoulder. He looked at him and smiled.
"How was work?"
"It was alright, would've been better if the air didn't stop working." Pico put his head on top of his.
"Want something cold?"
"Yeah but, I would rather sit with you two." He wrapped his arm around him and kissed Ben's cheek.
Ben leaned in closing his eyes, Pico doing the same until they planted their onto each other's. Soon pulling away and looking at their little girl happily play with a smile.
"She's so adorable."
"Yeah, definitely." Pico put his hand on his.
Ben gladly held his hand. The three having fun outside with one another.
