LIZZYS POV

"Is this my bed?" Ivy asks.

I wipe away my tears and nod. "What's wrong?" She asks. "Nothing, it's just that was Stacy's bed."

I sit on my own bed and try not to blink because if I do more tears will role down my cheeks. I don't want Ivy to think that I'm mad at her for sleeping on Stacy's bed.

It wasn't even her bed anyways. It is my dads bed. She just slept on that bed. Ivy stands in the middle of the room. Ryan sat on his bed. "Ivy you can sit on your bed."

She hesitates before sitting. "Who is Stacy?" She asks after a long pause.

She was a friend...my friend... My best friend." I say. She looks down. "Don't think about too hard." I tell her. I really don't want her to feel guilty.

Ryan has been really quiet lately. He never joins in on any of our conversations. I wonder what is on his mind.

Kiddy jumps on my bed. "Kiddy!" I say. I vaguely remember in the car that my dad threw something at me. Turns out it was the backpack with kiddy in it.

We lay on our beds in our own thoughts, not speaking to each other.

The door opens my dad and some lady walks in. "IVY!" The lady says. She runs over and hugs her. "Mommy?" She asks confused. "I thought you left me and daddy for a man with money?"

I look at my dad in confusion. "Guys, this is Ivy's mother. You will all call her mother, and you will all call me Father. Is that clear? In fact that will be rule number 9. If you call us anything other than mother or father, you will be punished. This is your family now." The thought makes me throw up in my mouth.

"But your not my daddy. A Daddy is a warm cuddly teddy bear when you need him, and a daddy takes me out for ice cream when I scrape my knee, my daddy is the one that drops me off at school and is there when school is over waiting for me even though he has work. But that is what he does for me because he has no mommy to help him." Ivy say in the cutest little angry, innocent voice. But she doesn't stop there. "And you are not my mommy." She says. "Yes I am. I gave birth to you." Her mom sends down on to her knees so she is her hight and puts her hands on Ivy's shoulders. "No your not. A mother would be there for me. My mother used make really yummy Mac and cheese, she used to tuck me in at night. And-" she doesn't finish her big speech. She is crying too much to even talk. I begin to cry myself.

She is right. They are not our parents. He is definitely not my dad. I didn't even know he was my father that day he kidnapped me. "We are your parents. And that is what you will label us with. We are all you have. By the way Ryan, your mother is dead. It was on the news. She died of the cold and the car crash." My dad said. How dare he say that. They leave before I can blow out on him.

"Ryan I am so sorr-" he interrupts me. "I already knew. I saw it on the TV when you were still sleeping." He looks down. It all makes sense now. He has been so quiet. He knew about his mother, he woke up before me but he must have felt so sad he didn't want to wake up. "I have no one left." He says he doesn't cry. He just looks down picking at the bed sheets. We were all sitting on his bed. He is in shock.

My dad comes back in and says"time for dinner." "We just ate a couple hours ago." I say glaring at him. "I said it is time for dinner." He says through his teeth. Slightly irritated.

He leaves. And I pat Ryan's back for comfort. "I think we should go down before we get 'punished' " I say and we all shudder and go down stairs.
