Sunset's Lullaby

Your shadow danced in my eyes,

I wanted you to be mine,

You didn't let me down easy when I fell for you,

you took my heart, split it in two,

took your side, then ripped out your own,

giving me half of your heart of stone,

allowing you heart to be mine,

for whatever is left of time,

slowly the sun began to shine bright,

you watched the sunrise with me, admiring its sight,

told me I was a radiant as the sun,

although your words were never done,

my heart began to mend with yours, slowly,

you said your heart belonged to me, only,

and as the sun went down, I began to cry,

you sang me that sweet dark lullaby,

about a she-demon and how she took your soul,

carved her name into your soul's hole,

and you'd never forget the way her lips spoke those three little words,

with her menacingly beautiful ways, she created a lure,

and you fell in love the way you fell asleep,

slowly, then all at once, forever yours to keep,

the she-demon took your soul and made it hers,

as she takes it she purrs,

"I love you" and you believe it,

because although she may be a she-demon,

she's yours and you are hers, and she loves you,

the people who believe she's a demon aren't speaking the truth,

and you were brave enough to know that even demons have souls,

no matter how faded, how many times sold,

she still had a soul and she made it yours to keep,

so even though when the sun goes down, she'll slowly weep,

when the sun comes up, she'll be human again,

because you became her friend,

and gave her love when she needed it most, now,

to the she-demon you plead, "don't let me go", as you bow,

she says she won't, she won't ever let you go,

the depths of hell you'll never know,

she keeps you safe, she keeps you warm,

she says she'll never do you harm,

so as I cried and the sun went down tonight,

you held me in your arms, tight,

and sang that lullaby for me to hear,

told me you'd never disappear,

because even when it was dark and I was too,

someone would still be beside me, and that would be you,

because you are mine, and I am yours to keep,

because love is what we planted, and it's what we reap.
