"You bubblewrap me"

What you bring are spatters of paint
On my blood stained skin
The amber of your nearness in my morning tea
Putting butter on those warm toasts
While you're humming to some flattering notes
And I choose to look at only you for a while
I think of why we should not be together
But you've decided that we compliment each other
All I see is someone so much better
Your delicate stance
Unbothered by my thorny hands
I wonder 'bout the way you surrender
Evenings on my icy shoulders
Love has since been my purpose
As I breathe each day to love you forever....
