ANDIE RUBBED HER EYES and let out a load yawn as she followed behind Chuck. It was early morning, the sun having barely risen over the towering maze walls, and most of the Gladers were still asleep.
Chuck had rudely awoken the girl from her sleep, pestering her with heading to the doors in hope to see the three boys who had been trapped inside for the night.
Despite being more sure then not that the boys couldn't have possibly made it, Andie didn't want to ruin the boy's spirit. Therefor, she and Chuck were currently sat in silence before the maze doors, waiting in anticipation for them to open.
Andie leant back on her palms, chewing at her bottom lip as she played with her necklace. Her head was turned in the direction of Chuck, watching as he nervously fiddled with his finger. Her heart ached for him. She hated seeing him like this.
"Do you think they made it?" The boy suddenly broke the silence, keeping his eyes on the doors.
She didn't want to lie to him and tell him that she was certain they made it, but she couldn't possibly crush his heart and tell him the truth. She knew he cared about the boys maybe as much as herself, and she was aware he had grown fond of the new Greenie. So, she settled instead for something broad.
"They're smart, Chuck. They don't give up easily."
