paul atreides' pov

I was walking with my mother to a room in our huge house.
we would soon be moving to Dune.
the long corridors were full of boxes and servants carrying them away.

"paul"
my mother whispered to me, turning to me.
I looked at her in response.
"do whatever the Reverend Mother tells you"
she walked over to me and put my jacket on.
"mom?"
"paul, don't be afraid. fear is the mind killer"
she seemed very frightened.
she put the veil on her head and opened the door.

we took a few steps.
"do what she tells you."
"get out woman"
I watched my mother nod nervously and get out of the room, closing the door.
"don't you dare tell my mother to leave her home"
"come here, kneel down"
my body moves unwittingly, making me kneel in front of her.
"how dare you use your voice on me"
she looked me in the eye.
"don't look at me with that look, kid"
she moved her hand with the long sleeve of the black dress she was wearing, and under it was a box

"put your hand in the box"
initially I wanted to answer her in a way but I remembered my mother's words: 'do what she tells you'
I put my hand on that box.
with a snap, her arm landed next to my neck.
"I put the Gon Jabbar around your neck, a poisoned needle that kills. the rules are simple. if you take your hand out of the box; you die."
"what's in the box?"
"pain."

I smiled defiantly, but my hand was starting to burn.
I let out some grunts in pain and moved my neck to think of other things.
"do not move!"
I could feel the tears running down my cheeks. the pain was unbearable.
my breathing was getting harder and harder.

suddenly the pain stopped.
the Reverend Mother made me take my hand out of the box.

"get up!"
her voice had still commanded me.
I looked at my hand but it had no burn marks. It was intact.

"let your mother in."
I walked towards the door and found her still wearing the veil. she entered without looking at me and knelt in front of the old lady.

"why did you call me? I already knew he was strong."
"paul, tell her about your dreams?"
"do you dream? do you ever dream of things that then really happen?"
she asked, alarmed
"yes..."
I answered softly.
why now did everyone want to know about my dreams?

"but one still has to happen"
I added looking into her eyes.
"tell me about this dream, boy"
"I dream of a girl... a girl who whispers my name. she knows my name, she knows who I am."
"what is her appearance?"
she asked me.
"she has long y/h/c (your hair color) hair and beautiful skin. her eyes are blue more than the sky, and she wears a strange armor. "
"the stillsuit, the blue eyes due to the spice in the air. she is in Arrakis, but she is a Fremen."

my mother was alarmed, covering her mouth with her hand.

I don't know what got into me, but I was jealous of that girl.
I saw that my mother did not like her, and neither did the Reverend Mother.

"she is not"
"you can't know"
"YES!"

my voice was really high, my mother trembled and the old woman looked at me sternly
"you don't know what those women can do. they kill and deceive. ''
I was tired of this conversation.

Why didn't they want me to talk about her, or dream about her?
in my dreams she is always so gentle and beautiful, she whispers my name softly.

I decided to leave the room.
I walked quickly through the corridors to find a person, I needed to talk to him.

Duncan. there he is.
he was my teacher, he taught me to fight and defend myself.
he was doing back and forth from Caladan to Arrakis, to bring what would later be needed in the new home.
"duncan!"
I said running towards him.
"kid!"
he hugged me tightly, lifting me off the ground
"you didn't forget how to fight while I was away, did you?"
he asked, raising an eyebrow.
I denied and smiled at him.

"what are you doing here next duke? shouldn't you be in your rooms doing duke things?"
he asked, chuckling
"I have to ask you a favor duncan"
I wanted to get right to the point.
"yes, tell me everything"
he kept checking the weapons he placed inside the boxes which would then be loaded and taken away.
"I need to come with you to Dune"
he laughed loudly
"what? no. don't talk about it kid."
he said, becoming serious again.
"duncan, please, I need it."
"no, it's dangerous. you will come with your parents and when there are people to protect you"
"but you are with me, and then I know how to defend myself and how to fight, you taught me that"
"why would you need to come to Dune now?"

"my dreams..."
"what?"
"there is a girl from Dune in my dreams, I need to see her"
"kid... you can't put your life in danger just because you want to see a girl you dream of and that makes you hard."
he said laughing
"duncan, I'm serious. I need to see her. she know who I am and she knows my name. she's always in this high sand hill."

"a fremen..."

"what's wrong with them?"
"those women are killer, kid"
"I don't care, I'll use my voice to command her to kill herselves if she hurt me, but take me to her."
