Chapter 26

*tease* ('but his eyes were already closed')

Scarlett's P.O.V

At this point I let my breath go. Raze's lips looked too tempting. The minute our lips brushed there was a loud pounding at my door. It scared me so much my body slightly jumped. Raze sighed deeply as he straightened back from leaning in to me. Stepping back he slowly half turned to look into the direction of my front door.

I was still speechless. What just happened? Wait..more like what just didn't happen..? Oh come on! Really? I was totally anticipating that. The pounding at the door continued, only this time a bit louder.

I looked at Raze carefully. He was looking at me, only I couldn't read his expression. Dull, agitated, or even angered. I rushed passed him awkwardly to answer the door. I reached for the knob.

I opened the door and there stood Night. "Hey Scarlett, I uh--" he began. I slammed the door shut in his face.

I could almost see his smiling face twitch from what I had just done and his voice say "Really?"

I felt something weird though. The moment earlier with Raze had my heart beating and I only just realized it. Seeing Night sent a burst of adrenaline through me. I felt kind of mischievous.

As I began to walk the door behind me opened. Night walked in with a scowl, closing the door behind him. Then he gave me a disappointing look. I sat down on one of the steps leading upstairs.

"What do you want?" I ask. It seems like that's all I ever ask him.

"You." he said with a smirk.

"I'm busy." I said. Our usual everyday conversation, I thought. He just won’t change.

There were footsteps from the kitchen and Raze walked into the entrance. Instantly Night's angelic face twisted into a mean ugly expression. His eyes never left Raze. Razor just looked tired. As if he didn't care that Night was there.

"Apparently not busy enough." Night sneered.

I opened my mouth to speak but instead Raze spoke. "We were busy. You just decided it might be a good time to interrupt. Like you always do." he said.

"Oh? What exactly was I interrupting?" Night asks angrily.

Unexpectedly, Raze and I made eye contact. I remembered the intensity of his eyes on me earlier and I could feel my face heat up. What's happening to me? Night looked at me angrily. He was breathing hard and his eyes began to glow yellow.

"Get out." he growled at Raze.

"No." Raze answered. Wrong answer for Night.

They had an intense stare down until Raze finally looked at me. He wanted me to say something.

"It's okay Raze. I'll be fine." I said. This situation was extremely awkward.

Raze gave me an uncertain look. I nodded and smiled. I stood up from the stairs and walked to the door. He followed close behind me. So close that I could almost feel his warmth. I opened the door for him and he hesitated as he walked out.
