Chapter 34:

Daniel's POV:

I was getting out of calcus when my phone buzzed indicating I had a new message. I looked to check it was from Melissa. It would be wrong if I said I wasn't

disappointed when I read that she couldnt come along after school. She had track practice.

I convinced myself that it wasn't that big a deal and that she has a life apart from me. But there was also the fact that we had not been spending alot of time

together lately, and I was really looking forward to going out with her today, even if it was for a little while only.

Some other time, I thought and continued with my classes.

The last class seemed to drag on till what seemed like forever that when the sound of the bell nearly touched our ears the entire class was out in the corridor in

almost a couple of seconds. Yeah, Calcus is that bad.

I walked to the parking lot with Matt, who was my sole friend in the school. Yes, I talked to other people but I wasnt a very social person, happy with only a few

people.

Matt and I reached my car where Melissa had been waiting.

To give us some privacy Matt sat inside the car whereas Mel and I walked to the rare end of the car.

"Daniel I am so sorry. You have no idea how much I want to skip this practice", Melissa groaned.

"It's okay babe, I understand." I smiled at her reassuringly.

"Um... it's tuesday today and I have the track on thursday, I have the 100 metre sprint on Thursday and the 100 metre hurdles on Friday and..."

"I wouldn't miss it for anything in the world." I interrupted her and leaned to kiss her on the cheek.

"You better dont" She said and smirked at me.

We talked for five minutes, apparently that was the only break she had gotten from the practice and had to return back.

We hugged and I told her that I'd call her in the evening.

After she left I got seated in the car and apologized to Matt.

Back at home Dad was busy cooking as mom kept him company and they chatted like two lost friends.

Dad had never been the cook, neither had been mom, but dad still managed to, basically to please mom. Atleast back then it was to please her. Now it was more of a

compulsion!

They didn't always fight, sometimes they were humane.

They only had very different opinions about things, about all things actually.

Mom and dad had been high school sweethearts, or so they tell me, and had married right out of school. I was born four years later, and they got divorced when I was
