One day, Zane thought that he should add tear ducts to his design to make him feel more human. The only liquid he could find that wouldn't harm him was oil, so he stuck with that for a while. Except...oil isn't the best thing for tears.
Whenever he cries it'll stain his hands and face 'til he decides to get his paint redone. This wasn't an issue for him at first until he had his first metal breakdown. He was alone in his room, and when it was over he tried to cover up his tears. The paint wasn't there though, so he put on a mask. That was the day he realized that the oil stuck to his eyes and make them look darker. So they all figured out what he was doing which made him a bit upset.
Later, Pixal offered to change his tears from oil to a special type of acid; it won't burn his skin, but his eyes would burn to the point that it'll cause headaches. He was fine with this since a normal person feels the same, so now his tears are light blue.
