It felt like I had only just fallen asleep when Abraham woke me up to go to the lab to get things ready for Steve's procedure. I had hardly slept at all, constantly waking up from nightmares where Steve died. I knew as I got dressed that I didn't look as professional as I normally did, my hair was in a messy bun and there was no hiding the dark rings under my eyes. Looking in the mirror, I knew I would have to fix up my hair later before all the dignitaries arrived, but a 4 am in the morning and going on about three hours sleep, I really didn't care.

I quietly walked past Peggy's room, holding my shoes in my hand so I didn't make a noise and wake her up. She didn't have to get up for another couple of hours as she was the one that was escorting Steve to the lab's location. I was glad it was Peggy and not some other officer who, I had no doubt, would end up belittling Steve.

I walked outside and stumbled over the steps in the dark, hopping as I put my shoes on so that my feet didn't get wet in the morning dew. Abraham was waiting by a car with the MP that was assigned to drive us for the day. They both had heavy coats on to protect them from the cold morning air. It was moments like this that I was glad that I didn't feel the cold as much as others, it made getting ready so much quicker as I didn't have to search my room for multiple layers to put on.

The MP opened the car door for me and raised his eyebrows at me when he noticed that I had my jacket over my arm, leaving me in just my white blouse. When I slid in to the car I looked over at Abraham and smiled seeing he was as amused at the MPs reaction as I was.

I pulled my tie out of my pocket and put it on as we pulled away from the base. I kept yawning as I tried to tie the knot, but kept missing because of how tied I was. Abraham looked just as tired as I was as he sipped his morning coffee that he had brought with him.

"How did you sleep Kimberly?" he asked as I finally got my tie on straight.

"Honestly, not very well."

He then reached over and grabbed my hand.

"He's going to be fine. Steven is stronger than he knows and I know that he will make through the procedure."

I knew he was right, but I just couldn't shake this feeling I had.

"I know that better than anyone else Abraham. But I just have this gut feeling that somethings going to happen."
