Jon is pretty sure he's going crazy. Granted, ever since the accident that left him leaning on a cane, his mind hasn't been all that reliable, so it's not so far-fetched a notion. Regardless of what's happening, though, he's tired of the strange vandal breaking into his house to write one sloppy, squiggly word on his possessions: "Sophie." The closest thing he has to a friend is Andre, his landlord, who Jon quickly discovers knows much more about this "Sophie" than he's letting on.

Call Wolf

Maria can't explain what she is or what she's done. After all, it shouldn't be possible for a human to conjur fire from nothing but pure will, but that hasn't stopped her before. She can't remember how she ends up bloodied, beaten half to death on a deserted doorstep in the middle of the night, but she can remember him, bringing her in. He's a little reserved but she doesn't mind, especially as they have something in common: neither one is supposed to exist outside of nightmares and folklore. Few people know Maria exists. All of them want her dead. None have felt the wrath of her new friend yet. This is an impossible story and you'd do best pretending you've never heard it.
