A patch of urban land, surrounded by a swamp with festering corpses, Terojedi. A County by name, prosperous following the death of two merchant republics. At its head is a young Count, son of a dead authoritarian ruler, yet, unlike his father, both in ruling and in speech. Ishtaran is his name, of the Manzat dynasty, and long has he waited for his chance to help those on the streets that have suffered under his father. The beggars and the poor thieves, the working children and the families that cannot afford to live, to help them all, he desires. But that is no easy task and among the people of the palace, his ministers oppose him the most. Alas, that does not stop him and, with a few horses and a few guards, Ishtaran travels the streets of his County. He spreads his wealth with the poor, the so-called "outsiders" and with the unwanted. And, as word spreads of his deeds, he begins to be hated and loved, both by the poor and the wealthy. One of those, among the poor, who view his actions unfavourably, is a boy, around the age of 24, who goes by the name of Assur. He has never met or seen the Count, though, not yet...
