The People Around Her
❝She watched the people around her, she helped the people around her and she became the people around her.❞
Twelve-year-old Alexis Maralyn Lee sat on the steps of her porch every morning to gaze at her lovely neighbourhood. There would be a day in which she would gaze at one particular person, be it a child or an adult. She only got back in the house when she was given chores, called for dinner or had some homework to do. Other than that, she spent most of her time outside the house, head resting on her palms, eyes locked on different people every day.
Alexis Maralyn Lee, who preffered to be called as Alex, was a quiet young girl. She was aloof and excluded herself from the others. A nod or a shake of her head and a shrug was her way of communicating with the people who would sometimes pause before her to ask for directions or just simply have a little chat. She would let the person do the talking while she let herself do the listening. It was easier that way. Being the polite girl she was, she would reply the person at times when being asked a question.
As time flies, she found it easier to communicate with the people. Consequently, she was suddenly willing to help in any way she could. The innocent youngster also learned a few things she was never taught, and was told numerous interesting information she never knew. Alex soon became a helping hand, a listener and a hopeful learner.
She was no longer the quite, young wallflower. She became the people around her.
