Rain pelted against the window. I watched as the rain drops raced each other down the glass pane. It wasn't everyday that it rained here so everyone was pretty excited. Of course, I was used to this. I lived in Florida. It doesn't go a week past not raining.

My mom has been looking everywhere for a job, she finally found one that suited her, a small local shop that paid high paychecks.

We were hoping on moving to an apartment somewhere so we wouldn't be in aunt Mary's hair all the time. My mom actually considered me moving out and living on my own since Im turning 18 soon. She told me she would give me some money to start off with.

I have a few more months till school ends and I will eventually start college. I don't even know what I'm going to do with my life though. I could be in the medical field like my younger self always dreamed of, but my grades are a bit too shit for that now. Maybe go into computer science. I've always held a interest programming.

-

I held the delicate dried flower in my hands while trying to figure out how to place it in the page. I've been filling this book up for the past week. I never thought I would become so excited to hunt for flowers and put them in a book, but the thought of George's big smile and our long convos about it kept me going.

My phone buzzed on the bed beside me. I picked it up and found George's name across the screen.

I answered the call and was immediately greeted by George's pearly whites.

"Georgie! Hi!" I smiled.
"Y/n! How are you doing?"

Good question. Am I doing good? One part of my brain is saying everything is fine but the other part is disagreeing deeply.

"I'm okay."
Good enough.

"What have you been up to lately?"

I propped my phone up on my pillow and held up the book.

"I'm almost halfway done!"

His smile got even wider but soon faded.
"That's great! I'm glad you're enjoying it!" He smiled softly.

I furrowed my eyebrows and set the book back down.
"Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm good, do you want to play Minecraft maybe?"

I agreed but was still hesitant on his sudden mood change.

I called him on discord and ended the facetime call. As soon as he joined I pulled up Minecraft and started a new world.

-
GeorgeNotFound joined the game

I saw the same clout goggles start running up to me. He hit me once then started running off in a different direction. I groaned and started running off after him.

On my way to kill him, he did this parkour trick and it sent me down a ravine. I hit the hard stone and just heard George laughing.

"Can I get a reasoning?" I asked, annoyed, running back to where he stood.
"Reasoning for what? Why you're so bad?" He snickered.

"Oh wow, George out here with the comebacks." I grinned.

-

"I found diamonds! Come here!" I screamed excitedly.

"Okay." He said in a monotone voice.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm good!" He assured, I could hear the fake enthusiasm in his voice.

"Hey, you can tell me anything, ok?"

He paused. His Minecraft character stopped in the middle of the cave, looking down. He wasn't saying anything.

"George?..." I whispered.

"I'm all good! Just tired!" He immediately beamed. His original self returned and all was good again. Although I was still hesitant, I tried not to think about it too hard.

We finally reached the end after hours of searching for the nether fortress. He bridged over with cobblestone and began fighting endermen while I took care of the nether stars.

"Help me with the dragon! You got the beds?!" He frantically asked.

"Yes!" I began placing the beds and blowing them up. The faster the dragons health bar went down, the more excited we got.

Finally, the dragon lifted into the air and broke into a million pieces, tiny green xp began to fall like rain as we jumped around.

"Yes! We did it!" I cheered.

"Nah that was all me." He grinned.

"Yeah okay Mr. "I died like 5 times from the fucking iron golem."" I sneered in air quotes.

"I had no armor and we spawned right next to a village!" He whined, trying to defend himself.

We decided to go on a separate world and just mess around for a bit.

I began killing sheep's and cows for food as he went on jumping around in the endless field ahead of us. Suddenly, a loud scream echoed through my headphones as he fell down a ravine.

Georgenotfound fell from a high place

"What the fuck." He mumbled.
"Dang, George, you're like really bad at the game."
"Shut up Y/n, you don't even know how ender pearls work."
"I haven't played in a while ok?"

-

We ended off the night with some chatting on Facetime. I held my phone over my head as I lay down on my bed. George was still at his desk, his phone propped up on the edge of his monitor.

I talked to him about the new people at my school.

"Then there's this kid named Alex, he's really fucking annoying." I rolled my eyes.

"How's that?"

"All he does is scream randomly and say "Me perdonas" All the time." I said mockingly with air quotes.

He leaned back in his chair while laughing. It was nice seeing his smile.

"Then there's Niki, she's one of my closest friends here."

"Oh really, what's she like?"

"She has blonde hair and wears these round glasses that make her look like an ethereal elf. She's super nice and will literally help you with anything you needed."

He mouthed the words ah while nodding.

"I think you'd get along Alex perfectly." I laughed.

"I thought you said he was annoying?"

"Yeah, but he's your kind of annoying. You guys would have a good bond for sure."

He furrowed his eyes in confusion but agreed.

"You should definitely pay a visit sometime. I'll pay for your ticket."

His eyebrows raised up in excitement.

"Wait, like actually?"

"I mean, yeah, you're turning 18 in two weeks George."

"Holy shit, I forgot about that."

I laughed as he pulled out a calendar book from his desk and flipped through the pages.

"Aha!" He screamed, pointing at the date on the page.

"Ooh, you're turning 18 like a week after me." He added, pointing at a different page.

"Awe, you wrote down my birthday too?" I smiled, pouting my lip.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I?"
"Nothing, nothing."

-

After a while of talking, we both began to feel tired. He moved onto his bed and laid on his side.

"Remember that night. Where you slept here."

My cheeks began to feel hot as I nodded slowly.

"I miss that. I miss seeing you. Through a phone just isn't enough."

His smile faded.

"I miss you." He said quietly.

"I miss you too." I smiled softly.

He closed his eyes and his lips turned into a frown.

"I don't want to break the promise Y/n." He whispered. I could barely hear what he said.

"What?"
