Y/n's POV
"Second successful show!" Lin cheered, all of us cheering along with him. "To the bar!" Lin called again. I immediately froze, all of my ancestors appearing next to me. "Shhh... it's alright, Y/n." Alex soothed. I nodded a bit and looked to my left at him. "You can do it Y/n. We'll be with you the whole time." Peggy smiled at me, her sisters nodding along with her.

While my ancestors were comforting me, everyone else was excitedly getting ready to leave, except Daveed. He was watching me look at walls and nodding a little.

"Hey, what's wrong." Daveed asked, as he wrapped his arms around me. "Alcoholic dad..." I mumbled. "Oh Y/n.. you don't have to come.." Daveed sighed. "I-I'll go.. I just won't drink anything.." I sighed. "Ok.. I'm gonna stay sober though." Daveed told me as we began walking with the group. "No.. it's ok. You can have fun." I smiled up at him. He sighed and shook his head. "I want to be there for you..." Daveed mumbled.

We've been at the bar for about an hour, and like my ancestors promised, they've been by my side. I managed to convince Daveed to have fun and drink some alcohol, so I felt better about that.

"Y/n?" I heard from next to me after about 30 minutes of watching my friends to make sure they don't get hurt. I turned to see a drunken Daveed leaning on the wall. "Hey, are you ok?" I asked, walking up to him cautiously. Daveed shook his head. "I'm tired. I wanna go home." He mumbled. "If I take you home will you be ok on your own?" I asked him. Daveed shrugged. "Ok," I sighed, wrapping one of his arms around my shoulders. "Let's get you out of here then."

Once I got Daveed out of the bar, Alexander and Lafayette walked up to me. "I would give some help, but I'm a ghost." Alex chuckled, Laf nodding in agreement. "It's ok.. I just gotta get him to his apartment and we'll be ok. Can you take me to where he lives?" I asked. "How'd you know we followed him home once?" Lafayette asked as we began walking. "You've been in my life for 33 years. I think I know some stuff about you." I chuckled. They nodded and laughed as well. "Heyyyy Y/n's dead family." Daveed slurred. "Not so loud, Daveed. You'll give yourself a headache." I smiled at him. He nodded and was silent the rest of the way to his house.

"Can I see your key, Daveed?" I asked softly. He nodded and dug it out of his pocket, handing it to me. I unlocked his apartment and helped him in, Alex closing the door behind us. "Where's your room?" I asked. Daveed pointed down a hallway and began stumbling down.

"Do you need me to stay here tonight?" I asked Daveed one I got him into bed. He nodded and grabbed hold of my arm. I turned around to face Alex and Laf. "I'm gonna stay here.. you go back home and tell the others, ok?" I asked them. They both nodded and walked out of the room, closing the door. "I'm going to get you some water. You need to let go." I chuckled as I tried pulling my arm away. Daveed grumbled a bit and held my arm tighter. "Daveed." I said sternly. Daveed sighed and let go of my arm.

As I was filling Daveed's cup of water, I felt arms wrap around my waist. I smiled and leaned into Daveed's touch. I turned the water off and turned around to face Daveed, giving him the cup. He gently took it cup and drank the water.

"Let's get you back to bed." I smiled up at him. Daveed nodded tiredly and leaned on me a bit. I walked Daveed to his room and laid him on the bed. I tried walking away but Daveed pulled me back and wrapped his arms around me once I fell onto the bed. I laughed a bit and curled up to him, resting my head on his shoulder and falling asleep.

~The Next Morning~Daveed's POV~
When I woke up I felt weight next to me on my bed. Damn it.. I thought to myself. I slowly opened my eyes and looked down to see Y/n sleeping on my shoulder. My breath hitched and I froze.

Slowly, I pulled myself from under Y/n and put a pillow in my place before walking out of my bedroom.

I walked into my living room and sat on my couch, resting my face in my hands. I sat like that for a few minutes before feeling the weight of the couch shift a bit. Thinking it was Y/n, I looked up to my left. But I was met with a ghostly figure that looked like me when I was in Lafayette costume. I yelped and slid away from it.

"Do not be afraid," The figure soothed me. "I am Lafayette." He smiled. "Th-the real Lafayette.. like the one that died like 180 some years ago?" I whispered. He nodded. "No this can't be real.. I'm dreaming.." I mumbled. "You are not. Y/n has told you about me, oui?" Lafayette asked. "Well.. yeah but I thought she was playing some joke or something." I explained. "Non, Y/n never lies unless it is to protect herself or one's that she loves." Lafayette told me. I nodded.

"So why can I see you?" I asked. "I came to tell you to treat Y/n right. Or else you'll have 14 spirits after you for the rest of your life." Lafayette smiled at me. "Noted." I chuckled. "Alright. I'll see you around, Daveed." Lafayette bid farewell before disappearing.

I pinched my arm to see if this was all real. "Ow!" I hissed, rubbing the spot I pinched. I should go check on Y/n.. I thought to myself.

Y/n's POV
I woke up to the sound of a door opening. "Shit.." Daveed hissed. I hummed a bit and rolled over facing the noise and opening my eyes a bit. "Sorry.. I didn't mean to wake you.." Daveed sighed, walking over and sitting on the bed. "It's ok.." I mumbled, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. "Do you have a headache?" I asked, Daveed, thinking he'd have some form of a hangover from last night. "Surprisingly, no." Daveed chuckled. I nodded and rested my head on his shoulder.

We sat in silence for a few moments before my phone began to ring. I picked it up and the caller id said it was Lin.

"Hello?" I answered. "Y/n, you have to get down to the theatre now! And bring Daveed if you know where he is." Lin told me in a panic. I grabbed Daveed by his arm and began dragging him out of the apartment. "Why? What's wrong?" I asked. Daveed was looking at me confused as he slipped on his shoes as we walked. "Jazzy is sick. And her understudy is out. You're our Peggy and Maria tonight." Lin told me. "A-are you sure? Who's gonna be the bullet?" I asked. "We already have Carleigh on board." Lin told me. "Look, you just have to get here quick so we can get you fitted for Jazzy's dress. Gotta go." Then he hung up.

"What's happening?!" Daveed asked as we ran down the sidewalks of New York. "Jazzy is sick, her understudy is out, I'm up play Peggy and Maria tonight." I explained briefly as the Richard Rodgers came into view. "What about the bullet?" Daveed asked as we ran inside. "Carleigh is filling in for me." I told him.

"I gotta go. I'll see you in a bit. I have some Advil in my dressing room if you get a headache from last night, ok?" I asked Daveed as we stopped running. He nodded. "Ok, I'll be right back." I told him before running off.

~2 hours later~
"Fuck..." I whispered as I looked out to the hundreds of people in the audience. "Fuck fuck fuck fuck." I continued as I backed up further out of sight. "Hey, what's wrong?" Daveed asked, walking around the corner. "I can't do this! What if I mess up? I only know some of the choreo and I don't know half of my cues!" I panicked. "Hey, stop it. You're going to do great." Daveed told me as he pulled me into a hug. "I can't." I whimpered into his chest. "You can." Daveed whispered back. "No.. I-." Daveed cut me off.

"Y/n.. you are the most talented girl I know. So if you can look me in the eye and say you can't do it, I'll tell Lin that you can't and we'll find someone else." Daveed told me, looking me dead in the eye. I tried to say I couldn't but I just couldn't form the words. "See," Daveed started with a soft smile. "You know deep down you can and you will. Just bring up that courage and everything will be fantastic." Daveed hugged me again. I nodded into his chest and squeezed him a bit as the house lights dimmed. "You got this." Daveed whispered. "I got this." I whispered back. He smiled and kissed my forehead before walking off.

I turned and walked to the stairs that Pippa and Renée were waiting for me at. "You ok?" Pippa asked me. I nodded. I got this.

The first act of the show went by smoothly, my anxiety was calming down, everyone was super proud of me, I hadn't messed up, but I was dreading performing Say No To This. Like really dreading. Daveed's mood dropped as well as we got closer and closer to it.

Daveed's POV
"There's nothin' like summer in the city.." Were the lyrics that cut off my conversation with Oak and Rafa. My head snapped over to the stage. "Diggs, no." Rafa warned. I looked back at Rafa momentarily before looking back at the stage. Anthony walked out of his dressing room and over to me. "Don't. It's not worth stopping the show." He whispered. "Then her mouth is on mine and I don't say," Lin sang. I stood up from the couch and made my way to the stage.

Oak ran in front of me and pushed me back. "Daveed, stop." Oak warned.

Rafa's POV
I was at Oak's side pushing Daveed back to the couch. Daveed was practically seeing red. "Dude, hey. I know you're into her but you can't stop the show!" I whispered to him.

Y/n sat on Lin's lap and they did their thing, making Daveed growl a bit and push against us more. "Dude, stop!" Anthony whispered frantically as he helped us push Daveed into the couch. "Hey, chill." I warned, glaring into his eyes. Daveed just glared right back.

Say No To This ended and Y/n thankfully came backstage.

~Y/n's POV~
I walked off stage, wiping my mouth when I was out of sight from the audience and looked up to see Anthony, Oak, and Rafa holding Daveed down on the couch. Oak, Anthony and Rafa looked back at me, giving Daveed the perfect opportunity to get up from the couch and run over to me.

Daveed enveloped me in a hug and squeezed me really tight. I hugged him back kinda confused. "That's your cue." I whispered after few seconds. Daveed pulled away and rushed out on stage with Oak.

I turned around to face Rafa and Anthony. "He got jealous again?" I asked. "He probably would've come out on stage and punched Lin if we didn't hold him down." Rafa sighed. I nodded.

The rest of the show flew by. Daveed and I bowed next to each other before walking off stage. "Hey, Y/n!" Lin smiled happily as he walked over to me. "Hey, Lin." I smiled as Daveed held my hand tighter. "You did great. Sorry about the whole Say No To This thing, Daveed." Lin apologized. "It's fine." Daveed growled, glaring at Lin. Lin nodded and walked off. "Go change." Daveed told me kindly, kissing my head before walking off.
