It's been a week since Jen and Brad have been back from their honeymoon. They haven't told anyone about the pregnancy yet, not even their close family or friends as they want to have their first doctors appointment to make sure everything's okay with Jen and the baby.
If they have worked it out correctly, Jen should be around 2/3 weeks pregnant but they will obviously have a definite answer when they attend the appointment. They wanted to get an appointment as soon as they arrived back home but all the appointments were full so they told Jen to ring again today to see if ones available.
"Hello, Los Angeles medical centre how can I help? A polite receptionist asks when she picks up the phone
"Hello, I'd like to make an appointment with Dr Mannings today if possible please?" Jen asks hoping they say there is one available
"Can I take your name please?"
"Yes... yes Mrs Jennifer Aniston-Pitt" It's still so surreal when I say 'Mrs'
"Yes Mrs Aniston-Pitt, we have an appointment available in one hour... is that okay for you?"
"Yes that's absolutely perfect thank you"
"Can I please ask what's the nature of the appointment?"
"I'd feel more comfortable if I didn't have to disclose that information, I'd rather just speak to Dr Mannings about it if that's okay"
"That's not a problem... we will see you in an hour"
Jen hangs up the phone and goes to tell Brad that they have an appointment for this afternoon.
"Baby, I've just got off the phone with the doctors office and we have an appointment in an hour" Jen says excitedly, practically jumping up and down
"I can't wait to see our baby" Brad says cradling Jen in his arms
"Right I need a quick shower... I'll be down in about twenty minutes"
*Thirty minutes later*
(Jen's P.O.V)
We are in the car on our way to the doctors office. We are both so excited to see our baby but we are also very cautious as we know things could still go wrong but we are only trying to focus on the positive side of things.
Brad's driving and he has one hand resting on my stomach, gently rubbing it back and forth. He's been so soft and gentle lately, not that he wasn't before but he is more careful now. He pulls chairs out for me, holds doors open for me. He's so sweet and I love it.
"I can't wait to see you little bean" I say softly as I rest both of my hands on top of Brad's hand that is still on my stomach
Ten minutes later we arrive and make our way inside. I go up to the reception desk, tell the lady I'm here and she tells us to take a seat and it won't be long until we get called.
She was right and five minutes later Dr Mannings calls us into her examination room. Brad and I take a seat in the chairs in front of her desk and she gets up some notes up on her computer.
"Hello you two, I just want to say congratulations on your wedding"
"Thank you so much" We both say in unison with smiles on our faces
"Well what can I help you with today?" She asks getting ready to type on her keyboard
"Last week I took a pregnancy test and it was positive so we've come to this appointment to confirm it" I say as I can't wipe the grin off of my face
"That's not a problem... if I can have you to do a urine sample for me now and then bring it back in here we can tell you if it's positive then we can go straight to do your sonogram" Dr Mannings hands me a urine sample pot and I go to the bathroom
I come back into the room and hand her the sample. She takes one of their pregnancy tests and dips it in and almost instantly it's positive.
"Congratulations, you are definitely pregnant. Jen would you come and lay down on this bed for me and we can do the sonogram" I lay down on the bed and lift my shirt up so she can apply the gel to my stomach
"The gel will be cold at first but it'll warm up soon" She says as she squirts the gel onto my lower stomach
Brad and I hold hands as she does what she needs to do. She takes a good look at everything and she's taking a long time so I start to think something might be wrong.
"Is everything okay?" I ask as my voice slightly trembles
"Yes everything's absolutely fine. I have a question for you two... Does multiple births run in any of your families?"
"No they don't" Brad and I look at each other and answer at the same time. Dr Mannings has a smile on her face and I can tell she's about to tell us some good news
"Well congratulations again... I can see two separate heartbeats" My jaw drops and I immediately look over at Brad who is in the same state as me
"We're... we're... having twins?" I say stuttering my words
"Yes you are. Both heartbeats are incredibly strong. You have two very heathy babies in there Jen"
"Oh my god baby... we're having twins" I squeeze Brad's hand as tears start to flow down my face
"This is fantastic. I'm so happy" Brad says just as excited as me
"We are going to have two little beans"
"They are in the same sac and they share the same placenta so they will definitely be identical... so you'll either have two boys or two girls but it's too soon to tell yet"
"How many weeks is she?" Brad asks the doctor as we are both curious to find out
"You are about three weeks pregnant. Since it is twins, we are going to have to monitor you more frequently but I'm sure everything will go smoothly as you're still young, fit and healthy"
I sit up and clean off my stomach and readjust my shirt before sitting back on the chair next to Brad. The Dr prints off our sonogram photos and I can't stop staring at them. She books us another appointment in four weeks time and then she asks if we have any other questions.
"Yes... um when will we be able to find out the sex of the babies?"
"Usually at around 20 weeks but it really depends on how the babies are laying. So I'll see you back here in four weeks to do some bloods and we will carry out another sonogram"
"Also, one more question. Is it safe to have sex while Jen is pregnant?" Brad asks dying to know the answer
"Yes it is. Sex won't hurt the babies at all. It's very safe"
We thank Dr Mannings and make our way back to the car. When I get in, I burst into tears just so happy that we are not only having one baby but two.
"Brad we are having two babies... and they are identical" I lean over to the drivers seat and cry happy tears into his chest
"Oh baby... I couldn't be any happier. How on earth are we going to tell them apart" I laugh when Brad says this
"We are their parents, it'll be easy to tell them apart"
"Oh... and I am glad about the sex part" Brad says laughing and I knew he was going to say that
"Me too Brad... nine months of no sex would've been torture"
Brad starts the car and we head back home thrilled with the news that we are going to be parents to two beautiful little babies or our little beans as we call them.
