[name] looked down at his pastel Nike shoes and then to Haru's flashing LED ones. He crept closer to him and clutched his arm in discomfort. They were being stared at by a bunch of really tall people who were older than them. He raised his line of sight a bit higher to Haru's face and saw him smiling at the big people. He wondered where Haru's boundless confidence came from.
He hoped it would rub onto him sometime soon.
One of the giants decided to cease the staring and walked to them and knelt down. [name] stepped back and clutched Haru's hand tighter.
"So who do we have here?" He spoke slowly and gently to not scare the children. Haru knew that [name] wouldn't say anything so he decided to talk to them on his behalf. "I already said my name though?" He spoke bluntly, not thinking about how he sounded. [name] gasped at the bold way he was speaking and nudged him slightly. Thankfully, the person wasn't affected and he gave a small chuckle before asking them if they were lost.
[name] nodded slightly but it was overshadowed by Haru disagreeing loudly, "No we're explorers!"
"We're just playing volleyball, nothing too much here," The kneeling boy told them.
Haru turned to [name] after hearing the word 'volleyball'. [name] had sparkles in his eyes as he realised that there were a bunch of volleyballs scattered along the floor of the gym. "[name] likes volleyball too! Can we play with you?" Haru asked eagerly. [name]'s eyes widened and he looked up directly to Haru's face surprised and unsure.
"What about Hiroshi?" He whispered to him.
"Huh? I'm sure he's alright. Why?" Haru spoke back to him, a dumb look in his eyes.
[name] sighed softly before freezing up as he saw one of the boys come closer to him. He walked back as the older boy walked closer. It made a cute scene which caused some of the other boys to snicker.
The person walking to him smiled as he him match his steps but backwards. He stopped and smiled widely at him, "Do you want to watch us play?" He asked.
[name] looked up to his face in shock, finally making eye contact. He nodded slowly and looked back at Haru who gave him a small thumbs up.
The tall boys talked to the old man and they all seemed to come to an agreement. [name] looked up unsure of what was happening. "Sit on the bench here so you don't get hit," The old man gestured to him to sit next to him. Haru saw him hesitating and looped his arm around [name]'s to pull him to the bench.
They looped around all the tall boys and finally reached the bench. [name] looked around the gym to see what was happening and accidently made eye contact with a bunch of boys who also happened to be staring at them. He flushed lightly before looking down to his lap. He followed his right hand which was tightly grasped in Haru's grip and relaxed. He heard the smacking noise of the ball being hit.
He looked back up quickly and wide eyes followed the ball going to each side of the court. His eyes shined with fascination, never blinking in fear of missing part of the match. The players weren't looking at him anymore so he freely ran his eyes over each of them and carefully watched all their actions.
The old man chuckled at his awe and felt a light tug on his arm. It was Haru, "Woah who's that one? He's super tall and cool! Is he really good?" Coach Nekomata knew who he was talking about and smirked at the irony of his questions.
"That's Haiba Lev, he's..." He trailed off after seeing his hopeful face, "Not the best but good enough,"
Haru's face fell but he looked at [name] to ask him who his favourite member was. [name] shrugged, not wanting to say anything as he felt eyes poking into his figure.
They continued watching the players practice with Haru exclaiming at every cool looking thing he saw and [name] shushing him in case he was bothering any of them.

The team finished up their practice game and went to get drinks. The bottles were placed right besides [name] to which he shuffled over to the other side as much as he could to be further away.
Some of the member looked too tired to regard the children on the the bench but [name] noticed one of them staring at him with round, watery eyes.
"We...We have small, cute fans!" He cried, going up to another member. He snaked closer to them. [name] shrunk away from him, slightly feeling threatened by his intense expression. The male noticed and he fell down, tears streaming down his face as he muttered about "his small fan being scared of him!"
[name] saw a taller boy with spiky hair kick him lightly but his attention was taken away by the same boy who knelt in front of them earlier that was in front of them again.
"My name's Nobuyuki Kai, was I cool?" He asked.
[name] shyly nodded to him, not looking directly into his eyes.
The tall one with the light hair bounced over to them with a lot of energy still somehow, "I bet I was cooler though, right?"
"Oi Lev! You shouldn't have this much energy left over!" The one who kicked him earlier spoke, "Plus, you're bad anyway,"
"Don't worry, I still think you're cool! Even if you're bad, at least you're tall- OH YOUR FEET ARE MAHOOSIVE!" Haru tried to make him feel better but got side tracked.

"So do you two play volleyball too?" The one who had introduced himself as 'Kuroo' asked.
"I don't but [name] does," Once again, Haru thrust [name out into the spotlight when he wasn't expecting it. Through most of the introductions, [name] simply listened and chimed in whenever Haru asked him something.
"Oh do you have a favourite position then?" This question was clearly aimed at [name] and he cleared his throat and answered.
"I like Libero," [name] glanced sideways and added, "Yaku-san looked nice,"
This simple answer sent Yaku into a state of bliss.
"Ehhh, but Yaku-san's super short!" Lev commented. He got a jab sent at him by the mentioned person.
"I'll teach you everything you want to know. From now onwards, you are my little disciple, alright," Yaku held his hand out to [name] solemnly.
[name] hesitantly accepted and reached out slowly. He yelped as Yaku pulled him harshly and twirled him around.
Haru laughed from the side lines as [name] tumbled into another member before running behind him again. It seemed he'd have to get [name] out of this shy phase sometime soon.
"You see that, he hates you, must be because of your lack of..." Kuroo started taunting Yaku in ways [name] didn't understand.
They headed out of the gym and [name] noticed a frantic figure running around outside. They stopped when they saw him and began running over to them. It was Hiroshi with an angry face that [name] would be terrified of if it was directed at him. Thankfully, it wasn't as Hiroshi only ever got angry at his little brother.
He thanked the members of the volleyball team before dragging the two 'troublemakers' off to [name]'s home.

In the end, only Hiroshi got told off for being irresponsible and the two little boys headed up to [name]'s room where his bed was set up.
They changed into their pyjamas, with Haru wearing a Pikachu onesie and [name] wearing a Tigger onesie. They jumped onto the pile of pillows and duvet that was [name]s bed and whispered to each other, holding hands and facing each other.
"I don't want you to be far," Haru mumbled.
"Neither," Replied [name].
There was a stale silence around them afterwards that they didn't like. [name] snuggled closer to Haru and draped his arm around him wishing he wouldn't have to let go in the morning. But that was unavoidable.
They slept comfortably, holding each other close.

[name] waved after the car that was disappearing into the distance. The Ito's had left.
"Haru-kun can't see you anymore, come inside now," His mother called him in and opened her arms wide.
[name] gave one more glance to the direction the car had disappeared off to and ran into his mother's arms. She rubbed his back gently, hearing small sniffles escape him.

...So I lied, there weren't that many interactions but that was because mc is a bundle of nerves and it's only the first time they're meeting.
Also he's shy child uwu.
Haru's gone and he took half of my heart with him.
