the cameron's and charlie we're waiting outside of meredith's home. a few seconds later, meredith opened the door greeting the family. the last two people left to greet were skylar and charlie
"hi sweetheart" meredith greets her goddaughter in a hug as she glanced at charlie with a small smile
as the two pulled away, meredith kept her eyes trained on charlie "auntie mer, this is charlie. charlie this is—
"meredith" meredith cut her off and extended her hand to the nervous boy
"h-hi, it's nice to meet you" charlie sent her his charming smile
"it's nice to meet you too" she responded "come on in" meredith said as the three made it inside "everyone is excited to meet you charlie" she said as the three walked towards the dining table
"e-everyone? this was just suppose to be—" skylar cut herself off as she noticed jackson, miranda, alex, jo, richard, amelia, maggie, and link
skylar's started becoming nervous for charlie, she glanced over at him, but he was already glancing at her with a 'help me' look
"well, skylar are you going to introduce your family?" jackson questioned with a sly smirk
skylar sent him a glare before turning to charlie "charlie. this is richard, miranda, alex, jo, maggie, link, amelia, and you already know jackson" skylar said as she pointed around the table
"i-it's nice to meet you all" charlie sent a nervous smile
"likewise" richard nodded his head with a smile
"i'm tired of this awkwardness" amelia announces as she get up from her chair and walks to her niece "hey girl" she smiled as she hugs skylar "he's even hotter in person" she whispers in her ear. skylar chuckling softly
as amelia pulled away, she walked over to charlie "it's nice to meet you charlie" she smiled and pulled him into a hug
"okay, charlie, skylar come take a seat" meredith called out
amelia quickly grabbed skylar's hand and dragged her to sit next to her. jackson signaling for charlie to sit next to him. luckily the two seats were right next to each other, and charlie was able to sit next to skylar

"so, charlie is it?" alex questioned. skylar mentally sighing in her head. as charlie responded with a 'yeah', alex continued "so, i'm sure skylar here has told you that we're all surgeons here"
"yes, she has" charlie responded
alex turned to glance at skylar with a plastered smile before turning his attention back to skylar "so, you know that means...if you break her heart, we'll accidentally break you, then patch you back up" he said in his casually serious tone. jackson snickered at the comment
"alex!" meredith calls out. as miranda who was sitting next to alex, slaps the back of his head
"what karev meant to say is, you seem like a nice and respectful gentleman, and we can tell that you and skylar are really happy. and we just want you to take good care of our little girl, who we can all say is like a daughter to us" miranda corrected alex's statement
"we've known, skylar ever since she was born, we've watched her grow up. so she means a lot to all of us" richard added
charlie nodded "she means a lot to me too" charlie said as he looked to the girl next to him. skylar immediately smiling. he turns back to the family "i'll take good care of her, i promise"
"good, but i will not hesitate to kick your pretty behind, if you hurt my favorite niece" amelia points to charlie
after an eventful dinner, charlie watched how skylar treated all of her four little cousins, zola, bailey, ellis, and harriet with such love and how she would always play around with them. from playing barbie dolls to hide and go seek, charlie chuckling as he chased her around with the kids following right behind them
moments later skylar was with her little cousins. all five were all seated around zola's little table. skylar had joined the kids 'tea party' as zola liked to call it
charlie on the other hand was leaning on the wall, watching as skylar bounced little ellis on her lap, the little girl was coloring in her coloring book, skylar laughing along with the rest of the kids. a smile forming on his face as he watches her smile
"skylar was always one to love kids" a voice called out as the person comes to stand next to charlie "i've always said that she would have made a great pediatric surgeon" charlie smiled softly before glancing at meredith
"she loves them so much. the first thing she wanted to do when landing was go to the nearest kids store and buy them a little gift" he told her before glancing back at his girlfriend
meredith smiled "skylar...she's a rare diamond. you're lucky to have her"
charlie glanced at skylar to see her incredibly focused on coloring in the lines of the baby bear. he smiled at her "i really am" skylar looked to him and they shared a loving look. that's when charlie realized he was in love with skylar cameron
