At the Destiny's Bounty, the Ninja are training Lloyd and Aria.
"Your new bodies are a fighting instrument. Listen to it" Wu instructs
The session begins with everyone attacking the two and they dodge each one, while their eyes are closed. Zane's shurikens end up hitting the watermelon Nya is carrying in. She shoots a glare at Zane, who gasps.
"Since they've grown, they're learning faster, Sensei" Nya says happily
"But will it be enough to challenge Lord Garmadon? Only time will tell" Wu replies
Kai draws his sword and although Lloyd blocks it, he doesn't stop the attack and falls. Kai then turns the sword and attempts to get Aria too but she dodges and flips Kai onto his back.
Aria takes off her blindfold "Nice try"
"Hahaha, you're getting pretty good" Kai laughs as Aria helped him up, Kai turns to Lloyd and helps him up "but that move you fell for was basic 101"
"Yeah, if I had focused more when I was little, I would've seen that coming" Lloyd says
"We cannot change the past, but we can improve for the future. Again, and this time, do not hold back" Wu instructs
The Falcon squawks as it returns to the Bounty.
"The Falcon has returned with troubling news" Zane tells them "What did you see, my mechanical-feathered friend?" he hooks the bird up to the monitor in the bridge
"The Lost City of Ouroboros" Nya says as the image comes on screen
The snakes were all training in Ouroboros
"Garmadon has returned to the Serpentine home base, but why?" Kai questions
"Looks like they're preparing for a final battle" Cole replies
"Nya, change course. We'll head straight for them" Wu orders
The ninja all suit up and get there at night.
"More firepower! When we attack the Ninja, they won't see it coming. Our forces will be so strong, Ninjago will be mine!" Garmadon shouts
"Ninja, go!" Wu orders
The 4 ninja jump out and attack
"Bring it on, fools!" Garmadon shouts
Lloyd jumps in and freezes his Mega Weapon.
"Aargh! Lloyd? Is that you?" Garmadon questions shocked
"Yeah. I've grown a little since the last time you saw me, Dad." Lloyd replies
"A little?" Aria jumps down "that's an understatement"
"No you too" Garmadon grumbles "Stop them!" he runs away into a chamber
Aria and Lloyd crack their knuckles before slamming their hands down at the same time causing the sand to shift and burry the serpentine all up to their heads.
"Nice work guys" Kai complements
The Ninja ran into the chamber Garmadon went into and see a portal.
"He used the Mega Weapon again!" Cole shouts
"Oh, swell. Every time he uses that thing, something really bad happens. Now what?" Jay questions
The ground starts to rumble and turn into sand.
"What's going on?" Kai asks
"Is the city sinking?" Jay questions
"Worse. The city's returning back into the desert, as if it had never been found in the first place" Zane replies
"Uh, what? What does that mean?" Kai asks
"Garmadon's gone back in time to make it so Lloyd never turns into the Green Ninja" Zane predicts
"I can't...I can't feel my hands" Lloyd says looking at his hands worriedly
"I think I'm worse" Aria says seeing herself becoming younger
Wu gasps "No, Garmadon's doing something much worse
"Uh. Ugh. We have to go in!" Kai shouts trying to move
"If he changed anything, he changes everything!" Wu shouts "you have to get in!"
As the portal closed the 4 ninja break free and jump in. They land in a dead grass field, the sky was red with a full moon. In front of them stood a giant village with a big castle in the middle.
"Is this Ninjago?" Jay questions
"No" Cole says looking around "It can't be"
"my sensors tell me we've gone 5 years in the past" Zane tells them
"That's a bit far back" Kai says
"I know where we are!" Cole looks at the others "Garmadon's going to stop Aria from becoming a ninja
"What does this creepy place have to do with that, hello the sky is red!" Jay shouts
Kai covers Jay's mouth "Cole where are we?"
"We're in what the present calls the Shadow Lands" Cole tells them "but 5 years ago, where we are now, it's known as Delta"
"Delta?" Kai looks confused
"The lost kingdom Delta" Zane explains "It's said to have been a kingdom filled with many mythical creatures until it mysteriously disappeared one day"
"Garmadon's gone back to the one day that completely changed Aria's destiny" Cole tells them "the night of the Blood Moon, the night Aria's mother died"
Kai gasps "if he changes anything, he changes everything. If Aria's mother doesn't die then Aria will never become a ninja"
"It's worse then that, Aria would become our enemy" Cole tells them
"We have to stop Garmadon" Jay says
The sound of a horn rung throughout the town as villagers ran into their homes. Cole quickly led the ninja to the castle and hid behind a wall.
"Is that Aria?" Kai points to a little girl with her mother in front of the castle
"It is" Cole says sadly "Along with my Aunt Layla"
"you should know" The ninja turn around to see Garmadon "I've been wanting to take this day back for a long time"
the ninja glare at him "What are you-"
"watch" Garmadon says sadly
The ninja turn to watch Aria's mother Layla bend down to the 5 year old Aria.
"You're such a good girl my dear" Layla smiles sadly "you be good and go inside"
"ok mommy, I love you" Aria gives her mother a kiss
"I love you too" Layla says sadly
A boy with blonde hair about 13 came over wearing the crest of a royal guard "Queen Layla"
"Yes, please watch over her" Layla says as she stands up, she looks down at Aria "you be good and stay with Hanabusa alright"
"ok mommy" Aria agrees, unaware of the danger approaching
A man with black hair and purple eyes runs out of the castle "Layla, Aria"
"Over" Layla turns to him
"Daddy" Aria says
The man picks up Aria and looks at his wife "Layla please, this is my fight, not yours"
"Like hell I'm going to let anyone hurt my husband" Layla argues
"Daddy" Aria says trying to get his attention
"Princess" Over looks down at her "Me and mommy are speaking"
"But daddy" Aria points across "Uncle Wu is here"
Layla and Over look over to see the elemental masters approaching with Wu leading them.
"Princess you.. need to go to bed now" Over says before kissing Aria's forehead
"Why daddy?" Aria asks confused
"It's late baby" Layla kisses Aria's cheek as a tear goes down her face "y-you go to bed with Hanabusa ok"
"Mommy.. Daddy.." Aria looks confused between the two
"We love you princess" Layla and Over say
Over hands Aria to the boy Hanabusa and he runs into the castle with her. The Elemental Masters reached them and Wu steps up.
"Layla this has nothing to do with you, step away" Wu says
"It has everything to do with me" Layla argues standing in front of Over "He's my husband"
"He is a being of evil that must be destroyed before he regains power" Wu says
"You're all fools!" Over shouts "cowards as well, to attack a man when he's weak"
Layla puts her hand out "he has no power, just leave him be"
"You know we can't do that Layla" Wu says
"Then you leave me no choice" Layla's eyes glow purple
Back with the Ninja, Garmadon was about to run out but the ninja grab him.
"No you don't!" Cole shouts
"I won't let her die!" Garmadon shouts
"You have to" Kai says "we won't let you change the past"
Before the fight begins, past Garmadon runs between the two sides
"Stop!" he shouts "you can't do this" he turns to Wu "brother please, they aren't doing anything wrong"
"The Overlord will regain power and take over Ninjago" Wu says "I thought you've always wanted to take over Ninjago yourself"
"You can't do this, what about Aria?" Garmadon asks "she needs her father"
"She will have her mother still" Wu argues "we can't let the Overlord live"
"What if Aria gains his power?!" Garmadon shouts "will you kill the child too?!"
"of course not" Wu says "I would take her in and train her personally to use those powers for good"
"Then it is the same as the Overlord, if he is not doing evil then why should we have to kill him?" Garmadon questions
"You know why" Wu pushes Garmadon out of the way "this is your last chance, just move out of the way Layla"
"Never" Layla says
"Layla" Over says placing his hand on her shoulder "you can't fight.. for Aria's sake"
"the day we got married I promised to be with you through everything for better or worse" Layla tells him "I'm not leaving now"
"my, what a stubborn wife I have" the Overlord sighs "Lloyd will have a hard time with Aria if she end up like you"
The Elemental Master's prepare for a fight as Layla, the Overlord, and the Kingdom's soldiers prepare as well. The two sides stare at each other, waiting for the first person to move. Suddenly Aria's mother turned into a wolf and attacked. The Overlord and the soldiers charged as well as the Elemental Masters begun to counter attack.
"this is a fight on a whole other level then us" Jay says amazed and terrified at the same time
Garmadon begun fighting harder against the ninja to break free, the ninja all held onto him with all their strength.
"she's gonna die soon!" Garmadon shouts
"You can't change anything" Zane says
"Aria's mother is dead!" Kai shouts "Aria would want nothing more then for her mother to be alive again but then she wouldn't be the Aria we know and love!"
"We can't change the past Garmadon" Cole says sadly "especially for the reason you want"
The ninja turn back to the fight when they heard a scream. Aria's mother had grown black wings and her eyes were purple, black smoke was all around them and she was taking out Elemental Master's left and right, not killing them though. The Overlord was using his powers to keep the Master's at bay and away from him as well.
"Look out!" Past Garmadon and current Garmadon shout
Wu quickly shot something at the Overlord. Layla quickly shielded her husband, taking the hit, she shouted in pain and collapsed. The Overlord caught her before she hit the ground.
"Layla!" the Overlord shouts
"No" Wu says sadly
The Ninja stare at the scene in shock as the current Garmadon stops fighting them. The ninja let him go and he sits down.
"It's done" Garmadon tells them
"You mean she's dead" Zane looks at him
"No.. no that cant be it" Jay says unbelievable
"Sensei Wu.." Kai looks at Garmadon "he killed her"
Garmadon nods, the ninja quickly look back at the scene when they heard a shout.
"Mommy!" Aria runs out of the castle with Hanabusa running after her
"Aria saw..." Kai looks at Garmadon "she saw!"
"she did" Garmadon confirms sadly
Aria runs over to her mother and cries "mommy"
The Overlord was staring down at his dying wife.
"Over..." Layla speaks as she holds Aria's hand "I love you both"
"You'll be fine.." Over says "You're fine!"
"I'm not" Layla shakes as she fights to stay awake
"Layla" past Garmadon looks sad
"please promise.." Layla looks at Garmadon "you'll take care of her"
Garmadon nods before Layla closes her eyes
"Layla!" Overlord shouts
"Mommy!" Aria cries
The Overlord's eyes suddenly turns purple and black surrounds him. Garmadon quickly picks up Aria and runs away.
"Daddy!" Aria shouts
A roar is heard and the black disappears to reveal a large black dragon, the Overlord's final form. Garmadon takes cover and protects Aria.
"Daddy Mommy" Aria cries
"shh" Garmadon rubs her head "it'll be ok"
The Ninja watch as past Garmadon protects Aria from the fight as the other Elemental Master's fight the Overlord until finally he's finally overwhelmed and disappears. The moon's red glow slowly disappears as clouds cover the land. Rain drops begin to fall, as if to signify the kingdom's great loses that night.
The Elemental Masters and Garmadon watch as the young princess cries over her mother's body. They were all sad, they had lost a friend that night, Layla was not supposed to die. Suddenly darkness surrounded the area and Aria's eyes glowed purple.
The Elemental Masters all looked alarmed but Garmadon made a sign to tell them everything was ok. The power surrounded Aria and a dark beam shot into the sky from her.
The ninja turned to Garmadon as he stood up. He looked at the Mega weapon before throwing it into the dark beam. The Ninja all stare surprised as the weapon was destroyed instantly. The dark beam disappeared and Aria fell unconscious.
Garmadon walked forward and picked up the young princess.
"what will you do with her?" Wu asks
"I will send her to Darkley's to be with Lloyd" Garmadon replies
"You can't do that, you saw what just happened" Wu intervenes "she has dark powers, I need to train her"
"I am her sensei" Garmadon narrows his eyes at him "right now she is emotionally unstable after the events of tonight, she needs Lloyd more then ever, she trusts him"
"..fine" Wu hesitantly agrees "but eventually I will train her.. to be good and not evil"
"We'll see about that" Garmadon replies as he picks up Layla's locket and puts it around Aria's neck "but that will be her decision when the time comes, for now.. she needs time to grieve" he glances at them "With Lloyd, her fiancé"
The Ninja suddenly see everything starting to disappear. When everything came back they were in the training room at the Destiny's Bounty.
"Wait we're supposed to be training Lloyd and Aria right now aren't we?" Cole questions
"We didn't change anything" Kai says panicking a bit
"What if Garmadon did something before we arrived!" Jay shouts
"Perhaps" Zane says worriedly
"hey sorry I'm late" Lloyd runs in the room
Aria walked in behind him "someone lost his gi and took forever to find it"
"you're the one who did my laundry" Lloyd argues
"you're the one who forgot" Aria shrugs
"Aria!" the ninja shout and run over
"hm?" Aria looks confused
"Aria are you ok?" Jay asks
"Yeah just fine" Aria tells him
"Great" Kai smiles "I'm so relieved"
"we're so sorry" The ninja hug her
"...for what?" Aria asks confused
"For what happened when you were younger, we had no idea you went through so much" Zane explains
"Well while I have no idea what you guys are talking about" Aria says stepping back "I'm fine, I don't even remember most of my childhood"
"Aria.. do you remember how your mother died?" Kai asks
"No, I wasn't even there" Aria tells them
The ninja look at her confused
Jay shook his head "but we saw you-"
"Why don't you remember?" Kai asks
"When she was 6 she fell from a cliff and hit her head" Lloyd explains "she had amnesia ever since, she only remembers bits and pieces"
"After I recovered at the hospital Sensei Wu took me in and I begun my ninja training" Aria tells them happily "I don't regret anything that happened, I wouldn't be where I am today if anything different happened"
The ninja gasp when they notice her eyes briefly shined gold when she said that.
"And I wouldn't change anything either" Lloyd agrees placing his arm around her shoulders
"you're so clingy" Aria giggles
"well I am your best friend" Lloyd defends
Zane whispers to the ninja "Garmadon destroyed the mega weapon when Aria's powers were appearing.. do you think?"
"The mega weapon.. is in Aria" Kai glances at her
"boys" Aria turns to them
"yes" the ninja all look at her
"Are we going to start training?" Lloyd asks
"yeah" Kai says getting into position as well as the other ninja
Lloyd and Aria smirk to each other before getting into position as well.
Aria's eyes glow a bit purple "alright.. let's dance"
