-"Oh sweetie, monsters are real and they look like people."-

"Aren't we supposed to be dead?" Ida whispered. They opened their eyes as they scanned around them. They awaited the loud boom but nothing came.

The bombs didn't go off.

Before they had any chance to retaliate, the sniper started going off in the Cartel's direction. They quickly drew their guns as they aimed at the cartel members, using the sniper to their advantage.

People dropped dead like flies and guns started going off in all directions to try to find the sniper.

"Did you hire the sniper because they're not aiming at us?" Starr said to Blade. Blade shook his head no as his eyes narrowed at the sniper.

But then she regretted her words when one of their bullets came in their direction, hitting close to Blade's shoulder but missing it by an inch since they were behind another storage container. Blade seemed to almost smirk at the sniper as if knowing something no one else knew.

"They must be working for someone else," Ida mumbled.

"Oscar, can you tell what kind of sniper it is?" Blade asked as another bullet fired from his gun.

Oscar looked at the sniper as he pulled the trigger of his own gun, not missing his targets even when he wasn't looking.

"It looks like a Barrett M82. Military-grade," he responded as he turned his attention back to the targets.

"Can anyone please take it out before they change their mind and aim it us after they're done with those guys?" Antonio agitated. Starr rolled her eyes as she got out her gun and aimed it at the sniper.

She didn't get to fire when the bullets came close to her hand, making her drop the weapon. It missed her by a hair.

"Shit!" she hissed as she rubbed her knuckle at the sting. She looked to examine the place where she felt a sharp prick and released a breath of relief when there was no blood.

All of a sudden, the smell of smoke filled their lungs.

"I don't think that's a barbecue..." Ida cautioned as she lowered her gun and panic settled itself into her honey eyes.

"The bomb-" Luca started before an ear-shattering boom-sound clashed in their ears.

Play song now

Ida and Starr immediately wrapped their arms around each other to brace for the impact but nothing but hazy smoke and fog surrounded them.

It was so thick with gray that they couldn't even see the people next to them when they were less than a foot away. Ash and soot fell from the sky and the corners of their vision, they could see the reds and yellows of flames beginning to surround them.

Coughs filled the space as they tried to get rid of the vapor in their lungs.

On the other side of the bomb, the whole cartel was screaming with agony.

10 minutes later when the smoke cleared and the ringing in their ears had gone away, they looked in the direction of the sniper but it was gone.

Vanished without a trace.

They got up and made sure everyone was okay before they built up the courage to look behind the crate in which they were hiding.

Ida was the first to look.

"Oh shit," she muttered. Her face visibly paled as her eyes grew wide as saucers. Oscar smirked maliciously as he scanned the scene before him and as Blade did the same.

Meanwhile, Starr's eyes held no expression whatsoever. There was a hint of...admiration.

Antonio and Matteo held confusion within their awe-struck smiles. A mix of puzzled emotions that swirled like a storm in their brains.

Luca, however, was utterly emotionless and stoic yet...entranced at what he was seeing.

There she was... amid the inferno with gore and blood surrounding her like a shrine dedicated to the muse that stood before them.

The dead bodies looked as if they were bowing down to her majestic being, praying for their undeserving mercy which she would never grant.

Her whole essence was regal...like she was a royal who was too good for this poor earth. Like she was meant to be a goddess in this life and the next.

So divine yet...lethal.

The fire surrounded her -danced around her- but not daring to touch her almost as if she commanded it. The ruby blood that her delicate yet formidable hands were drenched in proved she was anything but pure or unsullied

Her dark raven hair that looked to be darker than the pits of hell, stood still in the flames.

She was unmoving against the chaos and anarchy that encompassed her heavenly figure.

But she was anything but heavenly.

No...she was absolute hell.

Luca recognized her hair and skin. His brows scrunched together as he looked harder, noticing that it was the woman who entered the room the day before. She was the one who filled the whiskey glasses and left like she was nothing but a waitress or something.

His eyes blazed and skin stung.

She had seen him. Poured his drink.

She could've poisoned him. Killed him, Matteo, and Antonio without blinking. But she didn't.

Why?

She walked forward, away from them with her back still turned to them. She walked through the flames, and the fire bowed down to her yet again. It parted like the red sea, making way for her.

Then the flares closed around her, concealing her frame to hide her, shield her from them.

And just like that...she was gone.

And Luca knew that only the devil could kill that mercilessly yet look utterly beguiling and godly while doing it. Her curvy yet slim figure and bloody hands told him all he needed to know.

She looked like the devil reincarnated. The Devil that would be his undoing.

Diavola.

(Feminine version of the devil in Italian)

The Italians struggled to take his eyes off of the countless dead bodies and the spot where the enigmatic goddess-like figure stood.

Oscar was speechless yet awe-filled. She never ceased to amaze him.

She was indeed full of surprises.

Ida stepped forward, into the array of dead bodies and blood, and eventually walked into the very spot where she once stood. They followed behind her, her red hair guiding them like the enticing flames.

She bent down and picked up something that looked like a piece of burned paper that was browned on the edges.

She chuckled as she shook her head and held up the paper for them to see.

Luca examined the paper and was left more confused than before.

A black crescent moon.

"You are the first mafia she has ever shown interest in," Oscar chuckled humorlessly as he looked back at the burned paper. He knew that wasn't a good thing.

For her to show interest in a mafia early on, was to ask someone to kill you. And Oscar knew, it was all because of Thea. The woman on the sniper and Thea were friends and that only made trusting the Italian mafia harder.

"And who is she?" Antonio asked, curious as to what Oscar said.

"That was the shadow," Ida smirked, looking at the moon. Luca's mind raced 100 miles per hour, knowing that he had heard that term before.

"The right hand of the King. Her name's Midnight," Blade smirked as he looked in the direction of where the enchanting woman disappeared.

In an instant, their jaws unhinged and their mouths fell open.
