Vanishing Point
Out of an unidentifiable number of people, only ten remain, and These ten so-called paragons, are supposed to be the multiverses last, best chance, however, The Paragon of Destiny doesn't believe in tomorrow anymore. The Paragon of Courage spends everyday working herself to the bone, training for a fight that may never come. The Paragon of Unity has distanced herself from everyone. The Paragon of Love is just...Missing. The Paragon of Reality no longer has control of her emotions. The Paragon of Honor meditates, for hours on end. The Paragon of Hope has lost hers, The Paragon of humanity keeps himself busy, trying to repurpose the broken technology and find a way out. The Paragon of justice, He's anything but. And The Paragon of Truth has a strong desire to help everyone, but she doesn't know-how.
Seven of the ten Paragons make their way towards Vision and Lex Luther. Sarah happened to be nearby, listening in.
"What you guys building modern art now?" Sara questions crossing her arms while she awaits an answer.
"It is not Art, Ms. Lance," Vision replies simply, "Mr. Luther and I have been repurposing the technology left behind by the Time Masters,"
"What's it do?"
"It's a teleportation device since our very own teleporter hasn't been much help," Lex Luther says, gesturing towards the figure in the corner.
For the first time in a week, Sarah decided to join in on a conversation. She never passes up on telling Lex Luther off, "And where would I teleport too?!"
"Sarah makes a good point, there is no, there, out there, anymore," J'onn replied.
"Doesn't hurt for somebody to test it," Sara says looking over to everyone.
J'onn looks over to Sarah, still sitting all by her lonesome, "I'll go," he offers.
Sarah scuffs into a standing position, "No. We lost too many good people already," she turns her attention to Lex, "Thanks for volunteering,"
Lex looks up from his pad, blinking a couple of times before his eyes land on Sarah, "Well that's very cold," he tilts his head, "is it because I killed the parallel reality version of your fiancé?" He asks.
Sarah, not letting Lex get to her, looks to vision, "Start it up vis,"
Wanda sucks in a deep breath, causing Sarah's head to turn and look at her, "I'm sorry," she mutters apologetically.
"It's okay, you didn't mean to," Wanda whispers in return. She closes her fists. Not in anger, but fear. Fear of losing control of her powers.
Lex passes the tablet over to Vision and gets on the platform.
"If this works-" Sara Lance begins.
Sarah rolls her eyes, "It's not," she mumbles underneath her breath.
"-We get out of here. We defeat the anti-monitor. We find a way to get all the people we lost back..." Kara says, and for that brief moment in time her Hope had returned
Each of the nine paragons stood, watching and waiting for something to happen. And something did, but it wasn't what any of them were hoping for.
Sparks flew as the machine powered down. Lex Luther expressed frustration as he stepped off the platform.
J'onn held his head low, along with most of the other paragons, "perhaps it was too much to hope for,"
"Is there some way you guys can make it work?"
Lex sighs, "it was a long shot, to begin with,"
Just off to the left of the paragons, a breach opens. Vision looks towards it, his eyes glisten with the red and yellow lightning protruding from within. He takes one look at Wanda realizing she's in its trajectory.
"Wanda," he warns before flying towards her, he phases, once his arms are around her protecting Wanda from whatever is coming through.
A figure emerges from the breach hurtling at full speed towards a wall.
"Barry!" Kara yells, being the first person to get a clear look at who it is.
Eight of the ten paragons rush towards him while Wanda and Vision stay behind seeing as they're having some sort of moment.
Wanda stares up at Vision, purely in shock. He saved her, Just like her Vision would have. Nothing stopped her hand from reaching for his cheek. All the sensations were the same, but deep down she knew it wasn't him. She pulls her hand away, Vision stops her, placing his own on top of hers, "You feel something towards me, " he states, narrowing his eyes, "Love,"
"I only loved, once, " she says truthfully, "and he died twice,"
"Is that your way of denying my assumption?"
"What you think I feel for you, isn't for you, " she pauses, "You look...like him,"
This time Vision lets her pull away, letting what she just said sink in.
Barry groans In pain, holding his head as he tries to sit up. His breathing labored.
As footsteps get closer, he looks around, "Where am I?"
Kara kneels before him, "The Vanishing point,"
"You've been gone for months," Sarah adds.
"What are you talking about?" Barry's question comes out as a whisper, his voice gradually getting louder with his confusion, "I just left two seconds ago,"
Sara looks down at him, disbelief in her eyes as she asks, "to go where?"
"T-t-the speed force...I-I-I...c-couldn't... it's like... it's like running into a mountain at mock ten," he shakes his head, " there's no way out of here,"
Barry tries to stand up mumbling something about going back into the speed force.
"Barry, I think it would be best if you rested," Diana reasons.
He struggles to his feet, "No, I'm fine," he argues. "I have to try again,"
Sara steps into his path, "Hey, Barry, " she says soothingly, "that's a bad idea, the effort alone could kill you,"
"It's better than staying here,"
Kate was the next person to stand in front of him, "we're not going let you kill yourself,"
"Get out of my way!" he yells, pushing her behind him, forcefully.
Lex looks at Barry but does nothing to stop him.
Barry, once again face to face with Sara, "we're not letting you go anywhere,"
"Just try and stop me!"
Sara pushes him back, "in the condition you're in, Barry, it's not going to be that hard,"
"That's enough!" Sarah cuts in, "we've been stranded here for months, turning on each other now, is not an option,"
Vision steps forwarding, nodding his head towards Sarah, before wording his thoughts, "I believe that the speed force is key to our survival,"
"It is," A new voice answers. It seemed, almost, familiar to everyone, But Vision, Diana, and Wanda. "The Speed-force is the key to saving you. It's the key to saving everyone,"
Each of the heroes, unknowingly, formed a straight line, spanning from one end of the room to the other. The ones who knew it was Oliver underneath the green hood found themselves starring at him in shock.
"Oliver?" Sarah Lance questions, being the first one to break the silence.
"Yes, and no," Oliver answers. There is a brief pause before he says, "It's complicated,"
"I think I speak for everyone here when I say, We can understand complicated, " Sara says.
"I 'am' Oliver Queen...but I'm also something more, " Oliver's voice echos.
"More what?" Barry questions.
Wanda closes her eyes, slightly tilting her head as mental images, that aren't her own, come flooding into her mind.
She winces, Holding her head, catching the attention of Vision, who is concerned for her.
"I'm alright," she says pushing Vision away gently. Her eyes land on the person she received the memories from, "You've seen everything,"
"That is true," Oliver responds to Wanda. "Some might call me a ghost, a Spectre that's in tune with the entire multiverse,"
"Are you saying there's still a multiverse?" Kara ask.
"No, it's gone, replaced with its antithesis,"
"An Antimatter universe?" Vision questions.
Oliver nods his head slightly giving the answers that Vision needed, "and we need to prevent it from happening. The Anti-monitor is at the Dawn of Time, fighting to make permanent his destruction of worlds,"
"Then we go there," Kate suggests, "and we end him,"
"He's extremely powerful. The eleven of us might not be enough," he eyes Barry as he says, "We need a backup plan,"
"You have our attention,"
"Several millennia ago on a planet named Maltus, Mar Novu attempted to travel to the birth of the universe, but instead opened a breach to the anti-matter universe," Oliver explained
"So the Monitor gave us the Anti-Monitor?" Lex states in the form of a question.
"Correct...So while some of us fight at the Dawn of Time, others must go to Maltus-"
Kara cuts Oliver off, "and prevent Novu from freeing his doppelgänger? I'm in," Kara says with conviction.
"I will join you," Vision says.
"Saaaaame," Lex says. Kara turns around. "Come oooon," he narrows his eyes, "You know you don't want to risk letting me out of your sight for even a millisecond,"
Sara rolls her eyes.
"We can get to both through the speed-force, but I can't get into the Speed Force right now. It's probably because there's no multiverse left, but you said you're in tune with the multiverse. Does that include the Speed-Force?" Barry asks Oliver.
"What you're asking me is very dangerous, Barry," he warns.
Barry steps forward, "But possible...you could give me the energy boost I need. Please," he begs, "We have to do this. Everyone's lives depend on it,"
Oliver looks to the floor then back up at Barry, debating the risks. In that short amount of time, he concludes it is worth it. He gradually lifts his dominant hand and points his index finger in the Center of Barry's forehead, "I've unlocked your potential, Barry,"
"By touching my head?"
Even the others thought it was weird.
"Use this power with caution...Do you trust me?"
"Are you Oliver Queen?" Barry asks in a whisper-like tone.
"Yes," he answers.
"Then I trust you, with every cell in my body,"
"Good...Now run, Barry...Run,"
Barry slowly turns his head towards the Nine Paragons. When he makes eye-contact with Sara she sends him a nod, acknowledging, that she is ready.
One by one, too fast for the eye can see, Barry grabs each of his friends and takes them into the speed-force. He begins the first part of the plan by Dropping Kara, Vision, and Lex off at Maltus.
With their ability to fly, Kara and Vision land on their feet, while Lex-on the other hand-finds a not so gracious landing on a pile of leaves.
Lex brushes off the leaves and dirt from his suit, "Thanks for the kind assist," he says sarcastically.
Kara takes a few steps forward, using all her senses to survey the area. "Let's focus. Mar Novu could be anywhere, and it's not like we can just do an Internet search for him."
"Maybe not, but-" Vision says pointing towards the skyscrapers, "Any city that large has to be a bureaucracy,"
"And,"
"Bureaucracies require some form of a central data bank to function. We find that we find Novu,"
"That's actually not a bad idea," Kara then turns around, "Lex," she says to the empty space, where Lex once was. Lex had already made his escape.
"Where's lex?!" Kara exclaims in frustration.
