•Part 27•

I woke up early the next morning. I couldn't sleep, every time I shut my eyes, my mind was bombarded with thoughts that I didn't need right now.

I made my way to the kitchen in my pyjamas, and made myself an actual breakfast which I hadn't done ever since I started high school.

I didn't actually get to enjoy my breakfast though because as soon as I sat down, the doorbell rang. I looked at the clock, 7am. Who could be visiting us at this time? My parents weren't even awake.

I wrapped my dressing gown tighter around my body, preparing for the cold that would hit my if I opened the door. The doorbell rang again.

"I'm coming!" I groaned, swinging the door open and instantly regretting it.

I grinning Sean appeared on my porch. "Morning to you too."

My eyes popped. "Oh god!" I suddenly felt self conscious. I was wrapped in a pink fluffy dressing gown with my bed hair and a face mask, how much worse could this be? "What are you doing here Sean?"

He chuckled at my reaction. "I actually came to give you an offer."

"An offer?"

He nodded. "What do you say we bunk school today and go central. Frankly, I've got tons of coursework due today that I hadn't done and I don't wanna bunk alone. Please?"

It made me smile. The fact that out of all the people, Sean came to me. He obviously wanted to spend time with me and the feeling was mutual. "I'm up for that."

"Really?" He grinned. "Great!"

I nodded. "Come in. Lemme make you breakfast."

"I've already eaten." Sean told me, following me into the kitchen.

I shrugged. "Well watch me eat then."

He chuckled. "Are you going dressed like that?"

I glared at him. "Yes. Would that be an issue?"

"Of course not! You look amazing in everything." He winked. I looked away quickly because I could feel myself going red.

"You know what? I'm not hungry anymore, I'll just go upstairs and get changed quickly." I told him before running upstairs and desperately digging through my wardrobe. Finally, I decided on a button up shirt crop top with three quarter sleeves and a medieval print, a loose pair of ripped rolled boyfriend jeans and a pair of nude simple two piece strap heels.

Confidently I made my way downstairs and back into the kitchen. "I'm ready--" I stopped in my tracks at the sight of my mum, sitting across from Sean at the table.

She looked up at me and smiled. "Good morning hunny, what are you ready for?"

Sean turned around to face me mouthing 'school'.

"School. My car is playing up so I asked Sean to pick me up today." I lied.

My mum seemed to believe me. "Have you told your dad about it so he can get it checked up?"

I shook my head. "I haven't had a chance to yet. I was thinking I'll tell him later today when I see him."

"Alright sweetheart." She said standing up as Sean did. "Well I hope you have a lovely day at school kids." She turned to Sean. "It was lovely having a chat with you."

"Thank you Mrs Banks, it was my pleasure." He smiled back before following me to the front door.

"Sweetheart do you know what time you'll be home later?" My mum asked finally.

"Er, I'll text you 'cause I might have to stay for cheerleading practice today." I lied.

"Oh okay? But where's your stuff?" This woman was like a freaking cop.

"I got the days confused and I took it in yesterday so it's in my locker." This was coming along better than I thought.

She nodded with a smile. "Alright then! I'll see you later!"

I sighed from relief when my mum closed the door before getting into Sean's car.

It didn't take long for us to get to Central.

"Come on. We need to get you something to eat." Sean said grabbing my hand and leading me down the main road.

"I'm not hungry." I told him.

"You're eating! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day."

I rolled my eyes. "Sorry doc."

Sean laughed. "I've got the perfect café."

"So how's your car?" Sean winked as I filled my mouth with the pancakes.
I laughed. "Apparently broken."

"What happens when your dad checks the car and it's fine?"

"Er," I stuttered. "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it."

"Nice," Sean nodded. "Although I prefer to ignore the problem until it goes away."

I laughed. "I think I might start doing that."

Sean sat back in his seat. "So I've been meaning to ask you something."

"Hit me." I munched.

"So what's happening with you and Liam?"

I chocked slightly on the bite before managing to breathe again. "Hamilton?" I asked, getting a nod in return. "Nothing."

"What happened?"

I shrugged. "He played me around and didn't appreciate me. So I ditched him." Sean nodded in understanding. "How come you're asking?"

"I don't really know." He told me. "I guess I was just wondering because you guys had an obvious thing going on and then it ended abruptly."

"Oh okay." I nodded. "Well yeah he basically fvcked up."

"I'm sorry I'm asking you. It's just that although me and him are mates and hang out, boys don't talk about--"

"Wait wait wait." I stopped him. "You guys 'hang out'?"

Sean nodded, confused. "Yeah?"

"Since when?" I asked.

"Er," I could tell Sean was feeling uncomfortable; was it bad that I didn't care? "I don't really know. A while though."

I shook my head. "This is a joke right?"

"Okay, what's going on--"

"I had no idea that you were friends with Liam." I told him.

"Is that a problem?" He asked.

Was it? I couldn't really understand my own reaction. I guess I was slightly mad at Liam for never telling me about his and Sean's friendship but also mad at Sean because he knew how much tension there was between Liam and I and he never bothered to mention it either.

"Yes. No. I don't know." Come on Lucy, make up your mind. "It might be." I concluded.

"Why?" Sean asked startled.

"With the amount of anger I feel towards Liam and how upset he has made me, I don't think I could be capable of being friends with any of his close mates." I said honestly.

"What do you mean?"

Seriously? Did he expect a frickin story?!

"I just don't know if I could trust you, knowing that you were so close to a person that hurt me so much." I shrugged.

Sean looked at me like he still wasn't understanding completely. "But you've been friends with me for a while now and you've been able to trust me for all this time, surely my friendship with Liam shouldn't change that."

I sighed. He was right. I mean, his friendship with Liam didn't make him a different person. "I'm sorry Sean. I overreacted."

"No it's fine. Are you sure you're okay?" He asked.

I nodded. "Yeah I'm sorry I shouldn't have been affected this way."

"Lucy its--"

"I'm done. These pancakes were lovely." It was a lame way to change the subject but it had to be done.

"Er, alright. So you wanna go somewhere else?" Sean asked cautiously.

I nodded. "Yes please."

The rest of the day was pretty much horrible. It had never felt that awkward around anyone before, not even when I was discussing my freakin sex life with my mother. We tried speaking throughout our walks around Central but we could both feel that it was forced which only made the situation worse.

At the end of our day Sean dropped me back home and ended up walking me to my door. Before he could say goodbye I decided I needed to sort it out.

"Look Sean, I am genuinely sorry for today. I think you would have rather gone into school with none of that coursework instead of wasted your day on me and my issues." I apologised.

Sean shook his head. "It was awkward but I would never call it a wasted day."

"I hope we can just forget about it and all the awkwardness."

He nodded and I could see his usual smile returning. "It's fine Lucy. It's all good."

"I'm glad to hear that." I smiled. "Goodnight."

"'Night."
