𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐞 silently went through his phone. gently holding the straps of your backpack as you kicked a rock down the street, "hey can we go over there?" pointing in the somewhat general direction of a bookstore. he didnt even bother looking up, "uh sure. what for?" you shrugged as you grabbed his wrist and pulled him towards the building. "just want to check something out."
the door opened and the bell rang. the cashier looked up with a bored expression. as you made your way to the back of the store, kenma peeked his head up every once in a while to look around but ultimately always ended up looking at the floor or his phone. placing your hands slightly on your hips, your eyes scanned the different books and titles, "what are you even looking for?" you didnt answer as you bent down to the bottom shelf and picked up a book, "here we go-" flipping through the different pages you smiled at kenma as he gave you a confused look, "shoujo manga?" you hummed in response as he gave you a weird look, "what?"
"didnt expect that from you."
you glared slightly as you made your way to the front of the store again, kenma following close behind. you placed the book on the counter before kenma pushed through you, "uhm this too-" he placed another book beside yours while you took out your wallet. the cashiers almost dead expression stayed as he rang everything up, "this all?" you nodded as you handed him your card. "thank you!" he shoved the bag towards you and you quickly exited the small store,
the walk was generally quiet again, kenma wasnt on his phone though, instead he offered to hold the bag as you went along, you obliged. "ill pay you back." you shook your head and faced him, "nope. its a gift." he bit the inside of his cheek as he slightly avoided eye contact, "ko, im serious, dont worry about it." he nodded slightly as you peered into the bag, "whatcha get?" the nervous look on his face only worsened as you pulled out the books,
"no way! you got the first volume! you made it sound like you hated romance-"
he quickly snatched the book from your grasp, "well- you like it. so it cant be that bad." you laughed a little as you leaned towards him, "youre too sweet sometimes, ya know that?" he grimaced slightly as you grinned, "im kidding. kinda." rolling his eyes, he picked up the pace as you tried to keep up.

kenma sat at your desk, slightly hunched over your keyboard as you quietly read the volume you had purchased. "do you like- ever clean your desktop?" you shifted to face him as he turned in your chair, "its just pictures. it doesnt bother me." he sighed as turned back and began clicking away, you presumed he was 'cleaning' up your computer so you just shrugged and returned to what you were doing.
"its kinda weird." you shifted again but this time you were sitting completely upright as you faced him, "what do you mean?" he didnt face you and instead was looking at the pictures you had, they were really just pictures of friends or yourself so you didnt mind, he wouldnt do anything anyway,
"its just- at first we were strangers. then we exchanged information for the first time. and now im sitting where you sat all those nights."
you laughed as you got up and stood behind him, resting your chin on the top of the chair, "i dont think its weird, i never thought you were different from any of my other friends-" you moved as he turned towards you, "oh." you raised an eyebrow as you looked at him-
"oh?"
"nothing." bit your lip before looking around to find someway to break the awkward tension that had settled in the room, "oh! hey, help me out with something!" it was his turn to be confused as you handed him your switch,
"help me make bells. please."
he sighed as his usual expression returned to his face, "why would i do that?" you huffed before responding, "ill help you with whatever you want." he thought for a minute,
"are you any good at english?"
you smiled,
"ill help you study."
he narrowed his eyes before grabbing the device, "fine. just once." you grinned as he turned it on, "alright!"
