...

A week passes by, the two trolls couldn't seem to expect anything out of the ordinary or exciting that was to become of their day. But the only thing that had grown significantly stronger, besides the fact that it was quite minuscule, was the tension that had begun to grow between the two of them. No, it wasn't so solid and tedious, but rather wholesome and warmer. It was a positive tension. Why was this positive you ask? Because both of them understood that the fear of regret or forcefulness will become the disarraying reason for their friendship to breaking.

In other words. they continued to act around each other as they normally, Ariel began to really show her true colours as excitement and enthusiasm gradually danced at the tip of her tongue when talking about a topic in mid-conversation. Trollex is more and more grateful for her presence and very much enjoyed her excitement, she was able to show her humorous side of her more and more, which encouraged Trollex to think about her constantly.

But because of this, though confidence was an easy aid to fix any situation, both of them couldn't help but turn awkward or highly strung at situations which meant that they were cautious of giving anything away about their confusing feelings for each other. Despite this, they were very happy in each others company.

It was currently early in the morning, and Ariel had volunteered to try and make something for breakfast the other night. Trollex was very willing to the idea and agreed, he had never tried something made by her and curiosity got the best of him.

----

Like a familiar setting scene, the sun had caressed Trollex's face as he laid in his Super King Bed. His eyes had slowly opened and fixated on the setting around him. He let out a vigorous stretch and yawn before settling back into his bed lazily. He sighed wistfully, letting the sensation of his muscle fatigue relaxing. He then swam out of bed and made his bed neatly before gradually stretching the rest of his upper body as he swam down the warm hallways. The sun began to gradually make it was past the windows and reflect its message onto the cream walls.

He had noticed it, it felt himself being pulled even further into the direction of the overwhelmingly wholesome sunshine that basked its glory more and more.

He found himself stopping, freezing slightly at the sound that he never grew tired of, no matter how much he heard it without her knowledge.

"Without love!"

Most people, when living with someone who had constantly sung around the house would normally find it annoying. But fortunately for Trollex, Ariel never actually sung around him unless he asked. She made sure that she sang more carefully on her own, not wanting to cause any disturbance.

Thankfully, for Trollex that's exactly what made him want to hear more of her voice. Both with a continuous and sensual melody, along with an empowering need of courage. She never constantly sung around so forcefully or obnoxiously as Marina did-

"Stop."

His thoughts interrupted him.

He closed his eyes and rid of any future thoughts that would continue to destroy him further, his focus then directed itself onto his saving grace.

Ariels voice.

"In my Ivory tower, life was just a hostess snack."

It seems as though she was singing a musical song. He immediately recognised the tune as he was secretly a fan of musicals himself. His absolute favourite would have to be Hamilton. But Hairspray was a lovable classic that he would never turn down. He noticed that she was practically whispering the lyrics to herself and only wished that the volume of her voice had been turned up slightly.

No matter.

"But now I've tasted chocolate, and I'm NEVER GOING BACK!" Ariel began to slightly belt out the lyrics half-heartedly as if she was acting in the scene herself.

"Without love!" she pretended to sing well but ended up just sounding very pitchy as to the lack of care in the moment of her imaginary performance.

Trollex figured since the song was a duet, he would sneakily join in.

"Life is like a beat that you can't follow!" He sang while jumping out from the door frame.

Ariel couldn't help but jump, that is until she smiled at him. She then jokingly started to humorously perform it with him.

"Without love!" The chorus sang in the background.

"Life is Doris Day at the Apollo!" Ariel sang as she began to swim closer to him.

They both joined hands mockingly, staring to each other's eyes with very over-exaggerated love-filled expression, clearly taking the humour into practice.

"Darling, I'LL BE YOURS FOREVER CAUSE I NEVER WANNA BE," They both sung at the top of their lungs in perfect harmony.

"Without lo-oo-ove!" Ariel closed her eyes as she hit the much higher notes, Trollex then grabbed her hands tighter and held them so passionately with a jokingly-love filled expression on his face.

"So darling never set me free~" He harmonised his own little runs, sending shivers down Ariel's spine. But she still never broke her character.

Trollex had twirled her around and let her go so that she was further away from him and they were now on separate sides of the room, mockingly reaching out for each other.

"I'm yours forever! Never set me free! No no no-o-o!" They had belted in perfect harmony, before ending their little performance with a laughing fit.

"What just happened?" Ariel asked which caused both of them to laugh once again.

"I don't-... I don't even know." They both calmed down, letting the enthusiasm and energy now catch up to them and their laughing fit had ended.

Ariel couldn't help but mention. "I had no idea you were a musical fan." she smiled in amusement. Trollex lit up instantly as the light began to pass through the windows even brighter as he answered. "Oh, I love it! Hamilton is definitely ranked higher than the rest of em' though."

"Oh yes, definitely." Ariel immediately agreed.

They both had fawned over the characters and their slight obsession with their opinions on the relationships in the play. And most importantly the music that they both freaked out over.

"Aight, Guns and Ships." Trollex began before Ariel lit up and repeated in agreement "Guns and Ships! Yes! I do love... how..."

Trollex couldn't help but get lost in the drowning reflection in her eyes that could so greedily pull in its victims. Her iris had shown a magenta glow that became the essence of Ariel's enticement. The ocean of her eyes had brought him to search deeper into the translucency of the water through the beckoning ocean that seemed to emit an illuminating glow of gold from the bottom of the pits that take patience to truly see. It was almost rewarding for him. A moment of victory for the man as this singular stage on its own was the overarching challenge that he had chosen to invite himself in.

But he couldn't help but still see a sign of silent trouble through the dark shadows of the deep ends that barely showed itself in the light. He felt connected to her. He couldn't see anything visually enough to understand, but he just felt himself being pulled in to the riptide of her secretive troubled waters.

He felt slightly convinced that she was playing a dangerous game. Should he continue to see more of this girl? He couldn't help be gain a similar feeling of how he felt in his music through how he felt about Ariel. She was truly a drug to him. It wanted him knowing more. Saying more. Sharing more. But it was a risk.

But at the same time through the captivation of the envigorating pressure of her ocean-like eyes, he felt himself slipping from what he always stood for, or at least what he believed was what would be safe to stand by. Maybe it was a risk. It could all happen again. Or even worse, it would happen to her for the first time; he didn't want to become the one thing that had influenced him to see relationships differently. Toxic. Not intoxicating. Toxic.

It was a leap of faith that could be extremely detrimental. Proof of wasted wisdom from a past experience. It could hurt them both. It could hurt him again. It could kill her.

But her smile, her eyes, her journey.

He didn't want to stop there.

He couldn't give up on her now.

He wasn't finished.

Trollex's thoughts were politely interrupted from Ariel gentle touch. He felt a slight pressure at his shoulder, only for him to fully awaken when her voice had broken through his mental sound barrier.

"Lex?... Are you okay?" Her soft voice had rippled through his blurry and drowning mind. Her voice had pulled him out of his trouble confusion. He felt himself becoming to induced with something that he didn't know enough about to confront. But at the same time, he knew that Ariel is certainly making his head turn back to his past views on the joys of life that had become uncommunicative to him. Even he, himself, had experienced difficulty with communicating his own final thoughts with himself.

But Ariel couldn't blame him.

She didn't know enough to do so.

And perhaps it wasn't better that way.

Should he say something?

Absolutely.

Some day.

Yeah, someday he definitely will.

He just had to figure out how.

"Wow, that was the first time I ever came to terms with myself. Goddamn." Who knew that gazing into the eyes that drown you could tell you something about yourself.

He certainly never did, properly.

"Trollex? Please say something I'm getting worried now!" Ariel panicked as he unresponsiveness had become alarming to her.

"Snap out of it!" His thoughts commanded.

He felt his eyes snap, practically gasping for air after being held down underwater for so long. He couldn't help but grow scared of it, he practically lived underwater. How would he know the feeling of drowning? Why did he?

Sometimes, trauma and childhood experiences can become an instinctive concept of intuition that soon defies the psychological law of physical pain and mental discomfort.

The only difference is, one is bound to become significantly dependent on the other. And it is not the physical pain of us that falls first, but rather is the final result of the important loss of what keeps us alive- our state of mind.

Insanity becomes the beckoning of a minds state to withstand external consequences.

He knew too well, selfish or not, insanity chose him as his complementary victim.

Thought it was clear that he was becoming the most feared emotion's victim, he just hoped that it hadn't captured Ariel too.

Well, too late for that.

The grasp on the unfamiliarity of pain that he thought was non-existent soon became the only painfully captivating thing on his mind.

Why so captivating? Oh no. He knew this feeling of temptation too much to bear in mind.

He promised he wouldn't.

He felt himself looking around the room extremely cautiously.

"I- uh." He tried to speak but was still so baffled by what had happened.

"Is something wrong?" Ariel asked softly but it was clear that an anxiety attack was starting to build its chances of making a ghastly appearance.

He couldn't say anything, not yet.

But he needed her.

He meant what he said by not giving up.

"No-No. I uh-..." He finds himself in the centre of silence nowhere further or closer to his own sound barrier. Ariel was patient and looked at him with her expectant caring eyes. Trollex avoided them, which had pained her slightly causing her to flinch.

She still waited.

He figured it wasn't his breaking point, he couldn't reveal anything now. It was too soon, too unfair of him. But he still wanted to remind Ariel of their closeness despite his obvious avoidance into her gaze. A sense of comfort was well required in this situation.

He sighed tiredly.

"... Can I get a hug please?"

She didn't question him.

She didn't say anything.

She didn't refuse his request for comfort.

She was just there for him.

Ariel couldn't help but melt both concerningly and flatteringly at his gesture and slowly nodded while fitting perfectly into the calming and protective embrace of Trollex and had sighed into her touch.

He could feel her warmth.

He loved it, and didn't let go.

He didn't want to.

She didn't want to either.

...

If they could stay like this for a moment.

If life couldn't be so god damn ironic.

They would be able to breathe under their troubled waters.
