"Mia Clarke" I said, "I heard of that name before" That name seemed very familiar. "She went to our elementary school for a couple of years" he said. "Oh yeah right, she was in in my year 2 class, I think. What happened to her?" I ask.
"She just moved, she never told me why" he said, "One day she just disappeared" "Oh" I said. "That was the last I saw her" he said, "I knew she was acting differently one day and then I never saw her again"
"We were best friends along with Hannah" he explained, "I got picked on for hanging out with girls because they were my only two friends; Mia and Hannah. That's when I met Calum. We became friends and then it all went away"
"Same here, I get picked on too for hanging out with guys a lot especially by Hannah, but when Meredith became my friend everything stopped" I said. "I never knew" he said. "Yeah, also because I never wore makeup" I said, "After, what happened?"
"Then" he laughed, "I had the biggest crush on her" I smiled hearing Luke's story. "I hated her for moving away so suddenly" he said, "She never even said goodbye" "That's not a very good reason to hate someone" I said. "It's not, but year 4 little me thought so" he chuckled. "Then what happened?" I ask.
"I saw another girl and instantly fell into love with her" he said, "I know that I couldn't have loved her because I never even spoke with her. I never even knew what love was back then" "Love is stupid" I say, "It makes you do crazy things to the people who mean the most to you"
"That's true" he said. "Then after Hannah made me hate her for some odd reason" he continued. "What?" I ask. "She told me something about her and then something changed" he said, "I messed up my first impression and then she hated me"
This made me remember something but I don't know what. "When was this?" I ask. "Year 6" he said. Year 6, Year 6...Year 6 was the year I met Luke. Could the girl he's talking about be me? Of course not. Right?
"Luke" I ask. "Yes" he says. "What was her name?" I ask. "I can't tell you" he said looking away. "Why not? It's not me right?" I laughed. He stayed silent and laughed. "Of course not" he said, "I have to go" He walked away and scratched his head. What is he hiding from me?
"Okay..." I said still sitting at the table at Starbucks.

Friday...
"Okay!" Meredith said, "Now it's time for the presents!" We were all at my house and we were about to do our presents giving for Secret Santa.
"Everyone pass around your presents" she said. "But I thought it was Secret Santa" Luke said, "Aren't we not supposed to know who gave us the gift?" "Luke it doesn't matter" Michael said, "Just bring out the gifts!" "Fine" Luke said.
We all exchanged gifts. "Here you go Mere" Calum said passing Meredith a pink bag. "Thanks Cal" she said kissing his cheek. We all cooed and saw them clearly blushing.
"Here you go" Luke handed me a small box badly wrapped in penguin wrapping paper with a small bow on top. "Thank you Luke" I said holding the box. "Do my ears deceive me? Or did Emily just say 'thank you' to Luke?" Ashton said. "You heard right, Ash" I said, "Luke and I decided to be friends"
Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared. "Friends?" Calum gulped. "Yeah" Luke said, "Is there a problem?" "Not at all, it's just you two hated each other like yesterday and today, you're friends" Michael said. "Okay then can we continue with the gifts?" I asked still holding the box. "Yeah" They said and they continued passing the gifts.
"Sorry it's badly wrapped" Luke said, "I can't wrap" "Sure you could, maybe I'll teach you sometime" I laughed. He grinned as I opened the box. "Luke" I gasped looking at the gift, "this is amazing"
Inside the badly wrapped packaging was a box for a Polaroid camera. I opened the box to see a light blue camera. "Luke" I gasped, "I can't thank you enough" I hugged him and he seemed startled. He then became comfortable and hugged me back.
"Someone!" Michael yelled, "take a picture of this!" "Gladly" Calum said. He walked up to us and grabbed the Polaroid camera from my hands and put the roll of film in. Luke and I both looked at him and he snapped the picture.
The picture came out and Calum grabbed it and everyone gathered around to look at him. "Look" he flipped it over so we can see, "your first picture" I let go of the embrace and grabbed the picture.
"I even got you sharpies to write on it" Luke said handing me a pack of sharpies. "Thanks Luke" I said opening the pack of sharpies and taking out a black one. "What should I put on it?" I thought tapping the sharpie against my chin.
"First hug" Meredith suggested. "Best Friends" Ashton said. "The date" Luke said. "That's boring!" I playfully punched him. "I'll go with 'first hug', that way we'll remember it" I said writing it down, "and I'll also put the date" I looked at Luke.
"There" I said. "Our first hug" I placed the picture on the table along with the camera. "Now your gift" I said to Luke passing him the bag. He opened the bag and pulled out a small box. "What is this?" He said. "Open it" I commanded. He opened the box and gasped.
"This must've costed a lot" he said holding up a chain necklace with a red pick attached to it, "I can't accept this" he handed the box back to me. "Take it" I said giving it back. "I don't deserve it" he said giving it back. "Luke" I said giving it to him. "Emily" he mocked my tone. "Take the fucking box" I said harshly.
His eyes widened and he took the box. "Thank you" I smiled. He took the necklace and looked at it. "A guitar pick" he said holding the red guitar pick in his hand. "L.R.H" he said rubbing his thumb against the pick. "I know how much you like guitar" I said smiling at how much he liked it, "and I also know your middle name"
"Thank you" he gasped out finally before pulling me into a hug. He murmured something but I couldn't hear it. I shrugged and hugged him back. I like being friends.

"Why is her hair up so high?" Michael asked while we were watching 'The Grinch'. "I don't know Mikey" I said. "Why is he green?" He asked. "I don't know he just is" Calum said.
"Why does he hate Christmas?" Michael asked. "I don't fucking know" Luke said, "why don't you ask him" Michael walked up to the screen. "Why do you hate Christmas?" He asked. "Mikey" Ashton said throwing a pillow at him. "Hey!" He said turning around.
"Mikey come back" he said and Michael went back to his spot fast. "Now for peace and quiet" I said lying back. "I'm hungry" Michael said. "What do you want to eat, Mikey?" Calum asked. "PIZZA!" He said. "Of course you do Mikey, of course you do" Calum said picking up the phone.
"Yes" he said, "Two large meat lovers pizza" "Three large meat lovers pizza" Michael whispered out loud (if you get that). "Make that three large meat lovers pizza" Calum said, "Okay bye" He put the phone down. "Who wants to get the pizza?" He asked. The room stayed silent and remained silent.
"I'll go" I said standing up. "I'll go too" Luke said. "Great so in 15 minutes it'll be done" Calum said.
15 minutes later Luke and I left the house to get the pizza. "Okay," Luke said, "Where is the pizza place?" "I think he ordered from Papa's Pizza Parlour" I said, "So it's down the road" I pointed down the road.
"Unless he ordered from Pete's Pizza Parlour or Maggie's Pizza or-" I said. "How many pizza places are there?" Luke exclaimed. "I think ten but one of them closed down" I said, "So nine" He stared at me with a blank expression. "What?" I asked. "We like pizza"
I walked further down the road and Luke caught up beside me. "I like this" he said. "What?" I ask looking at him. "Being friends" he said, "it's nice" I thought about what Luke said and remembered what he said about him liking a girl he hated.
"Luke?" I asked. He looked at me and said, "What?" "Is the girl you were talking about me?" I ask, "Of course it couldn't be me but is it?" He walked faster. "Luke?" I said catching up to him. "Luke tell me" I said pulling his arm back.
He turned around, "I should never have been fucking friends with you" I let go of his arm and the fire grew inside of me, "You know what, fuck you" I said sticking the middle finger at him.
I walked back not even caring about the pizza, I was too angry. I walked to the front of my house with my hands in fists. I slammed the door open and everyone was staring at me. "Where's the pizza?" Michael pouted. "He means what happened?" Meredith said.
I ignored all of them and went to my room. Why did I agree to become friends with that? I thought he changed but I guess he didn't. People don't change.
"Em?" I heard a voice call. "I made a mistake Mere" I said as she opened the door. "What was that mistake?" She said taking a seat beside me. "I thought Luke changed. Now he told me that he doesn't want to be friends anymore and that it was a mistake" I said.
"You two seemed actually really good as friends. The tension in the room stopped" "Now it's like how we used to be" I said, "We both hate each other again. But why do I care so much? I never did before" "Maybe you love him" she said. "Woah there I don't-" I said. "As a friend" she said, "you could love someone as a friend"
"I guess I do but it still doesn't change the fact that he didn't want to be friends anymore" I said. "Then show him" she said, "show him how much you don't want to be friends with him anymore"
"What does that do?" I ask not understanding what she wants me to do. "Show him how much he needs you" she said. I thought about it, "Maybe I will" I said, "I'll do it"
"Let's go" she said, "the pizza's probably here" I agreed and we both made our way back downstairs.
"Hey guys" I said without making any eye contact with Luke. He stood up. "I'm sorry Em" Luke said. "Nothing to be sorry about" I said, "because I hate you too" "Em" his lip quivered. "Don't Luke" I said, "don't"
"Fine" he said, "if that's what you want" He furiously walked away but then turned around, "Asswipe" But the truth is I didn't want it to be this way.
"What just happened?" Ashton asked, "I thought you two were friends" "I thought so too" I said. "Then what happened?" He asked again. "The universe just doesn't accept it" I said, "Nothing can make us like each other because something's always in the way"
"Now I hate him and he hates me, the universe is in balance" I shrugged. "Wait I have to take this" Meredith said walking into the other room. "Well," Calum said, "Have fun in New York" "I'll try" I said.
"Bye guys" Meredith said waving goodbye, "I have to go, Mary wants me home. Have fun in New York Em!" Calum kissed her goodbye and she closed the door in a swift motion"
"Have fun in New York!" Michael said, "I have to go too" "I do too" Ashton said, "Lauren texted me saying that Harry's got the cold" "I should go too" Calum said. "Bye Em!" They all said in sync. I waved goodbye and started to walk upstairs.
I laid on my bed and thought for a while. I hope that this New York trip will be trouble free hopefully. I shut my eyes and fell asleep instantly.

➳Meredith
"Wait I have to take this" I said and walked into the kitchen. "Hannah?" I said into the phone. "Meet me at my house now!" She yelled into the phone. "Okay, okay calm down" I followed her command and then she hung up.
I walked back into the living room. I heard Calum say, "Have fun in New York" "I'll try" Emily said. "Bye guys" I said waving good bye, "I have to go, Mary wants me home. Have fun in New York Em!" Calum kissed me on the cheek and then I walked out the door.
I walked to my car and turned on the engine. I started driving down the road to see a house that I was very familiar with. I walked out of my car and closed the door. I went to the front door and pressed the doorbell.
The door opened a second later. "Get in" Hannah said pulling me in. "Did you do it?" She said, "Did you make them hate each other again?" "Yes" I said. "That's great" she said, "Does everyone know the plan?" "Yeah" Miranda said sitting on the couch. "Yeah" I said sitting beside Miranda.
"Now I need to do one thing" Hannah said picking up her phone dialling a number, "Mia?"
