My head pounded like a jack hammer as my eyes struggled to open, it felt as if my brain was disconnected from my body as I ordered my body to sit up, it didn't. I must have hit my head hard because my whole body tingled; it was as if electricity was surging through my entire body, folding into every crease possible. But even with all that energy it was hard for me to keep my eyes opened and harder to take in the fact that someone was dabbing at my face and at the exact same time as it touched my face a sensation ran through me, it was so powerful and also beautiful that it was impossible to describe. I couldn't help but let a small moan leave my lips, my hands sluggishly reached up and rubbed under my eyes, it was as I was doing so that I realized someone was there, for my face to be dabbed someone had to be there!
My eyes flung opened wide and following my brains order I sat up quickly. So quickly that the ground beneath me and everything else spun and spun and spun. Dizzy and confused I put my head in my knees and closed my eyes shut tight as the wind weaved around me giving me fresh air. It was as a hand sat tentatively on my back that the sensation shot through me again, I suppose druggies would say it was like the top of the high before you came crashing, whilst extreme sport people would probably compare it to jumping off a cliff. To me it was something else...
It was silent until someone spoke in my ear my body tingling as their breath hit me "Hey you okay?" the voice was soft and naturally full of worry, yet their voice was the sexiest thing I had ever heard and it made me tremble in pleasure.
Tentatively I opened my eyes and lifted my head from my knees blinking a couple of times in attempt to make my eyes adjust, though it didn't seem to make what I saw before me disappear. Cause what I was seeing before me couldn't be possible, it wasn't perfection to maybe others, but to me it was, it was breath taking, my breath literally got caught in my throat, my body feeling puncture and bruised, blinking multiple times I realized it was my heart hammering, no smashing against my body, if it wasn't for my body going stiff in shock I'd probably fallen flat to the ground from the force.
My eyes seared at the corners as I attempted to sort my mind but my mind wanted to add more details to the pile that needed to be sorted. It desperately took note of the pile of black scruffy hair that sat straightened but mussed around their eyes; it was long but not 'needs a trim' long, but right. My eyes noted the chiseled face, it was angular but the more my eyes searched the edges and curves of the face the more I realized they had soft and relaxed edges that balanced it out. His cheek and jaw line taught but leading down to his chin it was balanced curved and perfect. His eyes were a simple brown but as well as the rest of him, the closer you looked the more there was to see, the odd shades of green and glimpses of black speckled in his soft brown eyes, a brown that reminded me of the warm and soft ground I sat on. His eyelashes were long lashes, eyelashes any girl would kill for, they made his eyes that more glorious. His face was carved nicely, reaching his lips my breath let out a ragged and also embarrassing breath, his lips were indescribable, just lips but they were moist lips that were soft and plumped, his lips not thin but not full. Between those soft cushiony lips were a pearly white set of teeth standing out against his olive complexion, and instantly it reminded me of mum's photos from Greece, there were so many with perfect, soft, clear and tanned skin of olive complexions there.
Without thinking I asked colorfully "Are you from Greece?" The weary eyes that had been watching me instantly softened, his lips didn't fully curl up into a smile but one played along those glorious lips. He moved from kneeling beside me to sitting beside me, he didn't speak. My patience over threw my manners and I asked again "Was that a yes or a no?" he looked at me and rested his chin on his knees as I curled my arms around my legs hugging them to my chest.
He smiled and instantly I reacted; a warm sensation of amusement and curiosity ran down my body stopping every now and then to kick it up a gear. I couldn't help but smile back without thinking I spoke again "Sorry that was seriously random." My feet wiggled within my shoes.
He chuckled softly, too softly, that chuckle low and sexy making my body quiver and wanting nothing more than to test those lips out. Whoa! Where the hell did that come from?!
"What made you ask?" he asked pulling be away from my startling thoughts his eyes searching.
I shrugged "Complexion really." I said than instantly I blushed as I realized I had just admitted to him I was checking him out, a total stranger. I looked away hoping that my hair would somewhat shield me. Looking around I was bought back to reality; I was in the forest, on the ground, with some random stranger. My head instantly spun back to him my confusion taking over the curiosity "Why exactly..." I didn't know how to word it, I was lost and I couldn't remember exactly what had happened, all that trigged my mind was loudness and than that flash of black "What happened?" was all I could manage.
His face instantly changed a change I somehow instantly knew was distance. I couldn't blame him though, he was talking to some random stranger on the forest floor who was asking about their complexion of course you're bound to be a bit uncomfortable.
He looked down "It's all my fault." He said "Sorry." He said looking up looking awfully pained by whatever had happened.
"I don't think I'm following you." I admitted slowly.
He sighed rubbing at his shoes, a pair of black pumas "I don't think you ever will." He muttered.
"Try me." I said not missing a beat.
He smiled again though this time not reaching his ears "Well you got knocked over by" he paused fidgeting, my body filled with anxiety but also a feeling of awkwardness "a dog." He concluded.
I nodded slowly trying to grasp that "Your dog black?" I asked thinking back to the flash.
Automatically he glanced up a mixture of emotions dancing along his face too fast to keep up with until it came back to distance "Yes." He said slowly saying nothing more.
"So where did he go?" I asked looking around for a black dog "Or her?" I added.
"He, and away."
I couldn't help but laugh "Obviously." I said.
He sighed "My brother Grant he left with, Grant didn't see and well, dogs aren't obviously that smart."
I smiled even though the story was making me feel weird, I didn't know why "Dogs are smart." I argued unsure of why I was arguing about dogs' intelligence with a random stranger on the forests floor.
He looked up from his feet smiling wide making me catch my breath as he stopped tugging on the material on the bottom of his shoes. He abruptly stood up and extended his hand "Here." Was all he said.
Without hesitating I took it instantly surging with excitement, curiosity and relief, my hand wasn't the only body part that zapped, sparked and tingled, it was like vibrations but good vibrations, ones that made your heart leap and defy gravity as it raced louder and stronger. My knees shook by his warm touch my breath shaky.
It was only for the slightest second but he paused and instantly I felt worried and frustrated; like I had done something extremely wrong, very wrong. He then quickly pulled me up and let go as he brushed his knees off. Making me noticed his jeans; dark gray that weren't tight but were snug, his shirt was a simple white shirt with a 'v' neck that clung to his muscled form. He was tall, extremely tall, and toned, his shoulders broad, you could see the muscles, but it was over done, it was just perfect. Like the rest of him. So badly I wanted to throw myself at him and allow my hands to wander and explore every inch of him, terribly.
Looking at him any ordinary person would simply think 'just another hot guy' but if you looked closer you could see his beauty. What was strange was that I didn't claim myself as an ordinary person; I'd instantly saw and strangely enough felt it. I didn't want to be ordinary to him, frighteningly I wanted to be so much more than just someone ordinary, I wanted to be his everything.
Realizing I was staring I cleared my throat and I looked down brushing the hair from my eyes as he looked up "How's your head...?"
I smiled faintly "Fine I guess, can't say I have noticed." My hand reached for my face and pausing I took my hand away. I didn't want to know how bad it was and how ugly I probably looked, it be embarrassing and I'd definitely shy away.
That was another thing; I would usually blocked them out and run as soon as I came around but I... well I was laughing and talking and was thinking the opposite of running. Maybe I really did hit my head hard.
My thoughts were running crazy, I needed to walk. So I did, I turned and made my way back. I could hear the cracking of the branches as feet behind me ran to keep up.
"Hey." He finally said catching up and walking along side of me "Know where you are going?" he asked.
I shrugged looking around "Home hopefully, but hey I'll see where it takes me." I said laughing.
He frowned "Yeah cause that's safe." He muttered in disapproval.
I didn't say anything but kept walking, deciding I wanted the conversation to keep flowing I decided to break the silence "So what's your dog's name?" I asked.
He took a swift look at me "Uh," my body for some reason tensed "Colby." He said and I relaxed just as he sighed. Next thing I knew he inhaled sharply wincing his hands flying to his shoulder.
"You okay?" I asked instantly anxious, my own shoulder was throbbing weirdly enough, what was weirder was the hint of anger and skepticism running through me.
"Yeah," he said through his teeth as he began moving on rubbing his hand on his shoulder his face contorted "Damn, must of caught it on a branch or something." I nodded as we fell back into pace, my mind was filling with numerous amounts of thoughts, all confusing.
"So where you live?" he asked minutes later breaking the silence this time.
I smiled "Just on the edge of this, in Mossman Street."
He nodded "I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're new here?"
"Yeah, sorta. I grew up here than moved with my mum and now I'm back with my dad." I said before I knew it, startled at how easily I just talked about that, which I didn't instantly go into details about. What the hell?
"Huh." He said sounding interested, I could tell we were reaching the road, the track was back and the sound of cars and children laughing was audible. Reaching the edge of it he spoke again "So....?" He trailed off as he realized he didn't know my name.
"Tanze." I offered.
He paused smiling as waves washed over me "Tanze." He whispered to himself.
I smiled "Yeah" I said taking a couple more steps in front and up to the side of the road as he said it again my body warm and fuzzy as I ached to reach out and to be in his arms.
"So you want to-" I stopped turning around to find him gone "Uh." Was all I could say, he'd vanished and quick. I sighed "As expected." I muttered and regrettably I headed across the street.
Slamming the front door behind me I went to the kitchen bench, dad wasn't home yet so screwing up the note I left for him I pegged it in the bin.
Trudging down the hall I walked into the bathroom. "That it explains it." I muttered attempting to make myself smile, my lips fell further.
It did explain it though. I was hideous, so why stay? He'd probably been waiting to bolt as soon as he heard the cars from the road and knew I couldn't get lost from there on in.
Looking at my reflection I groaned; mess. My bright red hair that was usually between curls and waves was chaotic and frizzy with debris stuck within it. Good luck brushing that out. I had dirt marks up my face and neck and my pale skin looked sicker. My usual teal eyes looked wide, almost bug like, a scary bug like. My averaged length body at the odd cuts and dirt marks from my walk and laying in the dirt unconscious whilst my clothes clung to my figure some more showing off my curves more, that's one plus.
Screwing my face up I turned from the mirror in disgust and stripped down to get into the shower. I stood under there for so long waiting for peace to wash over me, waiting for the water to wash away all thoughts of the boy that was obviously disgusted and lacked all interest in me.
It didn't come that night.
