[- Story; So, when I got the request to do a Merman Abbacchio it was minutes after I found Daily Abba (Check them on Tumblr). The cover for this is their design for Mer-May Abbacchio and I fucking love it. Anyway, enjoy! -]
[ No-one's P.O.V. ]
Looking up from the seabed, a sense of irritation washed over a certain 'someone' decided to to swim by.
Unlike anyone else, Mista, Narancia, any other mermaid or merman, Abbacchio's scales were much more, noticeably, darker, making others avoid him. That, and the fact that he was also an viperfish.
"You should be acting more careful, Mista's been freaking out over the ships coming through. Presumably, they're arriving in the town nearby, but still-" "Shut up Giorno. It's not like they're ever gonna catch me."
With a sigh, he makes his way, trying to get far from him.
Soon, night came. Instead of resting, Abbacchio was slightly allured by the bright lights from above the water. With intrigue, he swam up to the surface, looking up to hear lively music, singing and joyful chatter. They must've been stupidly drunk to have a party on a ship.
He then noticed someone on top. A lady looking over the railing, alone at the front. It was somewhat tricky to make-out how she looked. H/c hair, s/c skin. She ran her fingers through her hair and hung her head, looking down to the water.
For a moment, it seemed as if Abbacchio and the lady had connected gazes, looking at each other for a brief minute before he quickly dove back into the water. Slight shocked as he did so.
Was she going to get a net and throw it out? No, it's a trade ship. Though, something made him interested in whoever she was.
And so, he follows the ship through until the morning. While yes, it was dangerous to be near the town so he watched them walk from the beach.
Minutes later, making a note on which way to go, he brought his gaze up to the sky. It was nearly time for the sun to rise. Nobody ever comes to the old beaches docks anyways.
With that, he was about to leave when he heard wooden steps, getting slightly louder. He wasn't too close, so he swiftly dove back into the water, swimming through to the side to observe whoever had come.
It was her! That lady from before, she sat down, letting her feet dangle off the dock, leaning her head onto the wood of it. She looked utterly drained.
He peeked up from the water, growing closer until he slipped under the dock. His breath sped up slightly due to the fact that he was this close to a human. He peeked up again, making sure to go unnoticed.
She looked gorgeous. Her details dainty, like as if she was in a spotlight compared to him, shielded by the dark.
He ducked back under, brushing out any hair in front of his face and quietly clearing his throat. He then slipped back out, carefully holding himself up on the wood. He tapped on the dock's wood, catching her attention with a small "Hey."
Like any other person would, she scrambled onto her feet, looking at him with terror. Abbacchio frowned as she stared. "C-... Captain! Captain I-!" "Hey!"
Before she could run off, he grabbed onto her ankle, making her trip over. The lady glanced at him once more before demanding; "Let me go! Let me go, you fish-fuck!" "Hey, hey! I don't want to hurt you! I just... saw you on that boat. I wanted to see you again."
Calming down, he lets go of her, bringing it back to prop himself up. She sat up, her breath easing up as her eyes watched his every movement. "... So, I did see you last night. When I told my coworkers, they were way too drunk to care." She said.
"... So, what's your name?" Abbacchio asked, redirecting his gaze away from hers as she walked back over to sit at the end of the dock. Once comfortable, she answered; "Y/n. I'm from New York. What about you?"
At the same time, he felt as if he shouldn't and should tell his name to her. Maybe just his last one, she doesn't need to know everything. "Abbacchio, I'm an viperfish, kinda."
"Are you a merman?" She inquired, eyes lighting up with curiosity. He huffed and replied; "Technically, yes."
The atmosphere surrounding the two felt odd. While Abbacchio was just as interested in her as she was to him, they merely stared before she spoke up again; "Just a question, are all mer-people like you?"
He huffed, rolling his eyes. "Nope. Yeah, sure they're fish-humans like me, but I'm a deep sea creature. They all begin on the reef." He explained, looking back to her amazed expression. "Whoa... well, first off, two things. One, for a deep sea creature you're pretty. Two, do you have any friends?"
"Yep, well, kinda. Associates, really. Oh, keep away from a certain yellow one named Giorno. He's an absolute brat. What about you?"
Y/n's shoulders slightly dropped as she lifted her head to the sea. "My family were fishermen. When we moved to New York, everyone called me Fish-Guts. No-one really liked me, so I just work with trading."
It felt unnatural, this experience of the two of them. Of course, it was when it came to them being entirely different species. "...I feel like this conversation is getting very awkward." He said truthfully.
Y/n nodded, chuckling in the process. "Well, I hope to see you tomorrow? Same time?"
Abbacchio felt his heart skip a beat. Already, he was looking forward to it.
And from there, the two began visiting each other. Every early sunset, everyday, for the next month or so, telling stories and silly experiences. There was a sense of calm between the two, mutual affection to the point where Abbacchio began to believe it.
He'd fallen in love with a human. A fascinating human at that.
She'd fallen in love with a merman. A calming merman at that.
Once again on the dock, Y/n sat on the ledge as Abbacchio sat close, telling her more stories about his 'gang'. That was until Y/n spoke up; "I love your scales."
The girl brushed her thumb over his cold, damp palm, holding his hand and providing warmth with both of hers as she observed the glistening scales. Then, gingerly, Y/n lowered his hand, her lips forming a frown as she sighed. "Y/n. What's wrong?"
Looking back up to his black, sclera eyes, with such disappointment she replied; "I'm... going back to New York tonight. I don't want to leave you, but I guess I'm gonna have to."
Abbacchio gasped lightly as she leaned onto his chest, now holding him close like a teddy bear. He didn't know how to react, a beautiful woman had just fallen onto his chest, not wanting to leave him.
...Finally, he decided to do it. He gulped down any fear and spoke up; "Y/n, there's something I want to tell you."
Y/n sat up, exchanging a concerned look with him. "Ah, yes?"
"Well, I obviously know that it's ridiculous. I know that maybe you don't feel the same but I just wanted to tell you this now since your leaving and maybe before any other guy could- of course you can always date another guy or girl. I just want to say... I think you're a wonderful woman, and I love you." He explained, slowly leaning closer to her.
While he expected rejection, he felt himself being pulled closer by her, in her arms comfortably. They were practically touching noses by how close they were. "Abbacchio... I feel the same."
With that, she closed the gap, pressing her warm lips to his cold pair. It took him a second to get used to this warmth, he lifted one hand to her cheek, trailing up to stroke her hair. He had never felt such heat, it was oddly lovely.
Soon enough, Y/n pulled away whilst Abbacchio fell back into the water with a cheery smile. The lady giggled at him as he rose back up onto the dock, she slanted beside him, reaching out to brush his hair lying in front of his face.
The two stared, intently in love.
"I promise, once I find some free time I'll visit. Maybe I could move when I get enough money. I love you." She said, pecking his lips once more. "I'll look out for it, and I love you too, Y/n."
