Laiya's pov
I was just putting the finishing touches on my outfit when Ruel texted me he was on his way, I hadn't been nervous at all until I received that text. I talked to my mum about what happened and she said that she really wanted to meet Ruel considering he saved my life. I can already tell she is going to love him. Though she also told me that he deserves to know who Tyler is and why he tried to kidnap me earlier that day.
Flashback to 8 months earlier
"Laiya I need you to give these to the man down the road" tyler said holding a bag of cocaine
"NO tyler I don't want to" I said trying to walk away, he grabbed my arm and I began to scream
"I SAID GIVE THEM TO HIM" he yelled pulling me closer to him
"HELP! ANYBODY" I screamed trying to pull away from tyler
I could hear the sound of people running towards us which is when Tyler pushed me to the floor and started trying to suffocate me. He use to always be sweet and loving, that was the Tyler I thought I fell in love with. Turns out I was just being manipulated. He started selling drugs at the end of year 9 and was trying to get me to help him even though I refused. I ended up breaking up with him which he didn't like and he became very abusive, he would follow me around places and touch me everywhere and without consent, however I never had sex with him even though he had tried.... multiple times.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU SLUT" he yelled into my ear still trying to suffocate me
"Please Tyler this doesn't have to happen... please!" I mumbled
"OI GET OFF HER" I heard someone yell from behind me, I could see Tylers face freeze and two police officers grabbed him and put him in cuffs
"LAIYA THIS ISN'T OVER YOU LITTLE WHORE" he screamed whilst getting pulled away from the cops.
I ended up going to the police station and filling an abuse report, a week later we went to trial and he was sent to juvie for 6 months due to him being "too young" for real prison.
End of flashback
He has been out for a few months now and has tried to contact me, only family and Anu know about it. I guess I never told Ruel cause I didn't want to see him get involved but it's to late for that now.
I grabbed my bag and walked downstairs and finished putting my shoes on
Laiya's outfit
"Oh wow darling you look absolutely beautiful, make sure you get loads of pictures tonight" she said grabbing my hands
"I promise, Ruel is nearly here" she started to smile widely "Please be nice and he doesn't know remember I'm going to tell him tonight" I continued standing up
"Of course hunny, just text me when your coming home or if your coming home" she smirked
My mum has never really been very strict about having a curfew though she can be pretty strict about staying at the opposite genders house especially after Tyler but I can tell she trusts Ruel, and so can I.
The door bell rings and my mum stands up and walks over to the door to let Ruel in
"Hello you must be Ruel!" she said
"Hello Ms, my name is Ruel and it's lovely to meet you" he said, it was obvious he was unsure of what to call her since she is divorced and doesn't know her maiden name and I think my mum gets that.
"Oh please Ruel call me Amanda, and is lovely to meet you too" she said pulling him into a hug
I walked over to see them and his face looked shocked making me blush
"Hi Ruel, I see you have met my mother" I say and he pulls me into a hug
"Yes I have, you look amazing" he said letting go
"Not too bad yourself" I smile
"Oh and thank you for looking after Lay today Ruel, you are a very brave kid. I am happy my daughter has you in her life" My mum says grabbing Ruels hand
"It was no problem, I will always protect her" he said hugging her one more time
"Laiya he's a keeper" she says making us both chuckle, "Now go have fun you two!, and remember what I said take pictures!" she said pushing us out the door
we both said our goodbyes and walked over to the uber.
"You really look beautiful tonight, like always of course" he said giving me a quick kiss
"and you really look handsome tonight" I said returning one
We began to drive and I realized that I should probably tell Ruel why Tyler came after me today.
"Hey Ruel, I need to explain what happened today" I said
"Ok only if you feel comfortable I don't want to pressure you" He said grabbing my hand
"No I need to tell you, so basically..."
I explained the whole story to him and I could feel him grab my hand tighter
"and I guess he has been out for a few months now and is still coming for me" I finished with tears in my eyes, luckily we were both in the back of an uber so he was able to hug me tight
"I am so sorry Laiya I had no idea, I am extremely happy I went to your studio today" he said planting kisses on my head
"Yea I am too" I smiled
"But If you don't mind me asking why don't you get a restraining order against him?" he asked
"I'm not sure but believe me I will be getting one now" I said giggling
"Just remember you will always be safe with me, I will never ever let anyone hurt you... ever" he said pulling me into another huge hug
"thank you Ruel" I said back
"But where exactly are we going?" I asked
"Well I decided to take us to a restaurant near where we first met" Ruel said looking at me
"Oh my gosh, thats so sweet thank you"
"It's my pleasure you deserve it"
We both exited the uber and walked over to the front doors of the restaurant, it looked very fancy and we were for sure the youngest in there which made me laugh. We were getting very odd looks from some of the people in the restaurant but I didn't care. He made me happy.
"So your booking name is?" the lady asked she was around our age maybe a little older and I could see she did not want us here
"Van Dijk" Ruel said holding my hand
"Ok are you gonna wait for the rest of the people to arrive?" she questioned
"No it's just a table to two" he said looking at her
"Are you sure about that, like money wise" she said looking at us both
"Yes I am sure now can we please go to the table that I booked for myself and my date" I could tell he was getting pissed of but him calling me his date made my heart flutter
"Yes follow me"
We both took a seat, we had a beautiful view of the opera house and could see all the tourists looking around It was beautiful. Once the waiter had left Ruel looked at me
"She was a bit rude wasn't she?" Ruel said making me chuckle
"I mean we are very young and are for sure the youngest in this restaurant but she was very rude about it" I said giggling
"Yes you are right" he said looking around
"But lets not let it ruin our night" I said
"Never, now let me take a picture of you!" he said
"Go ahead" He took a photo and posted it on his story
