LISA
My head is pounding like a drum. Damn, I'll never drink again. I slowly open my eyes and wonder if I'm hallucinating because all of my walls are white.
I suddenly open my eyes wide and look around. Please don't tell me I made the same mistake again. I peek beneath the duvet and see that I'm dressed in boxer shorts and an oversized shirt. I sighed in relief, then suddenly Jennie emerged from the bathroom wearing her bathrobe and a towel over her wet hair. I almost drool over what I'm seeing when she suddenly greets me, and I snap out of my daydreaming.
"Good morning." She said as she turned her gaze away from me and began packing her belongings into her luggage bag. I'm still wondering why Jennie is with me and where are we.
"Good morning. Uhm, Jennie, where are we?" I asked, and she abruptly stopped what she was doing. Her brows are furrowed as she looks at me.
"What do you mean where are we?" Jennie asked, her voice irritated. "Have you forgotten what happened yesterday?" She asked as she approached me. She is now standing at the edge of the bed with her arms folded across her chest. She's now staring at me, waiting for my response.
"Yesterday?" I held my temples and tried to recall some details from yesterday's event. After a few seconds. "We got married yesterday." I told her. "How can I forget about that?" I smacked my head and got out of the bed.
"Is that all you remember? Just the wedding?" She asked, turning away from me.
"We also had a big party last night and I drank a lot." I said as I walked over to the glass window to look outside. "Oh! I know this view. We're in our hotel. Why am I not familiar with this room?" I said to her, but I noticed she wasn't moving and was staring at the bed, so I walked over to her. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked, touching her shoulder, but she flinched and moved away from me to get her things, but I noticed one of her brows was raised and her cheeks were pink.
"By the way, Bambam called. I answered your phone because you're still sleeping. He invited us to eat brunch with them and said he wanted to give you something before we left." She said without looking at me.
My relatives are still staying at our hotel. I'm curious about their flight back to Thailand.
"How about you? Do you like to eat with them?" I asked.
"I'm fine with it." Jennie said quickly.
"Okay. I'll call Bam to confirm." I said, grabbing my phone from the table beside the bed and dialing Bam. Jennie speaks to me again after the short call.
"You can take a bath now while I fix myself here." She said, still not looking at me.
"All right." I said as I dashed to the bathroom. Damn, why has the atmosphere suddenly become awkward? Did I do something wrong to her yesterday? I pressed my forehead against the door to concentrate once more. Damn, I'll never drink more than I can handle again. Maybe a cold shower will help me remember everything that happened yesterday.
An hour later.
Jennie and I are on our way to our hotel's dining hall. We decided to meet my relatives there for brunch. There's still an awkward atmosphere between the two of us, and she hasn't spoken to me since I came out of the bathroom. She's just walking silently beside me. I was about to start a conversation with her when I heard my name called out of nowhere. I didn't realize we were already in the dining hall, and my loud cousin is now calling out to us.
"Hey, Lovebirds!" Bambam exclaimed. I smacked his head as we approached them. "Ouch! Why do you do that?" He asked, holding his head, but I ignored him and smiled at my other cousin Minnie. I kissed her on the cheeks and hugged her. Jennie welcomed her and hugged her as well. She greeted Bambam and was about to hug him when I suddenly pulled her away from him, and her eyes widened.
"You don't have to do that." I told her and pulled a chair for her. I take a seat beside her, and my cousins join us.
"You're too possessive, Pokpak." Bambam said, but I just rolled my eyes and started looking at the menu.
"Where are your aunts?" Jennie asked. My brow furrowed as I realized my cousins were only present with us.
"Where are they?" I asked my two cousins.
"They're doing a tour with your mom. They called it 'Sister's Bonding." Bambam said, looking at us.
"But we all know they're just wasting money on things they don't need." Minnie huffed. Jennie and I just nod and keep looking at the menu. My gaze was drawn to Bambam, who was looking intently at Jennie. I kicked his leg under the table, and he flinched from the pain.
"Ouch! Pokpak, why are you being so brutal today?" He complained to me. I gave him a deathly stare, and the two others began to look at us as well.
"You're staring at her in a creepy way." I told him. His eyes widen and he looks at me as if he didn't mean to do it, and he waves his hands in front of me.
"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to look at her that way." Bambam apologized, and I softened. I thought he was finished talking, and I was about to ask Jennie what she wanted to eat when he started talking again. "I'm just curious, Jennie, what happened to your neck?" He asks, then looks at me and smiles wickedly. What's the matter with him?
I was about to examine Jennie's neck when she suddenly placed her left hand on it.
"Is the concealer not hiding it?" Jennie mumbled. "What happened?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing, just insect bites." She said, still hiding her neck from me.
"There are insects in our room. I need to talk to Mr. Chan. (The General Manager of the hotel) How can they be so careless. What if we have an important guest here and these things happen as well?" I frantically said, but Jennie was quick enough to grab my hand and pull me back into my chair. My two cousins are speechless about what happened.
"You don't have to Lisa." She said, her face is upset. She didn't realize she had taken her hand away from her neck, and I could clearly see her neck now. Her neck has a light purple-red bruise.
"You don't have to do that Lalisa, you'll only embarrass yourself." Minnie said. What is she talking about? I returned my attention to Jennie.
"Are you sure that's an insect bite?" I asked, trying to touch it, but she pushed my hands away. She placed her left hand again on her neck to hide it. Is she really okay? Her face is so red now.
"I know what kind of insect bit Jennie." Bambam said, and the three of us looked at him. "A big POKPAK Mosquito." He exclaimed, laughing loudly. My brow furrowed in response to what he said.
Pokpak? My name is Pokpak.....
Last night, after the wedding, I had a flashback of memories. My eyes widen and I look at Jennie, but she is looking away, her face flushed. Why am I so stupid? How could I have forgotten? Is that why she's been acting strangely around me since I woke up this morning? I'm about to speak with her when her phone rings.
She excused herself to answer the phone, forcing me to confront my two evil cousins, who are currently smirking at me.
"No honeymoon, huh. Pokpak. Look at your face, you look like a ripe tomato." Bambam said, and I tossed the table napkin on his face, but he just chuckled.
"Stop teasing you two." Minnie says before continuing to look at the menu. I gave Bambam a deathly glare before shifting my gaze to Jennie, who was still on the phone. Her gaze met mine, and I noticed she smiled before looking away.
Why am I like this? I'm doomed. My head is aching once more, but not as badly as before. How could I have forgotten what happened last night? The memories are gradually returning to me. I kissed her again, but this time it was wilder and bolder than the last. I can still feel her soft skin against mine. Her warmth, heavenly scent, and electrifying touches. Did I really give that hickey? I suddenly felt hot and requested the waiter to bring us cold water.
The waiter returned and brought us cold water. I took the glass and drank the water right away. Jennie came back and took a seat next to me. I'm getting nervous now. How am I going to approach her now? I promised not to do anything to her when we were alone together. I'm crying on the inside. I'm in big trouble.
My worried self vanished when I felt Jennie's hand caress my shoulder. "Are you okay, Lisa?" She asked, concerned. She probably noticed my nervousness, but I immediately nod at her.
"You're probably hungry by now. I'm sorry I talked longer on the phone." She said. Her mood shifts in an instant, and she appears happier. Perhaps Mino called her. I felt a pang in my chest but tried to ignore it. I don't have the right to be jealous in the first place. I averted my gaze from her and summoned the waiter to take our orders.
My two cousins are now conversing about something I have no idea about. While Jennie and I are in that awkward atmosphere again. Jennie is now in her own little world, happily browsing her phone. I'm annoyed right now, possibly because she talked to Mino. I can't take it any longer. I'd like to know who she spoke with a while ago.
"Who called you?" I asked, not looking at her.
"W-what?" She asked, and I can tell she's looking at me this time.
"I said, who called you a while ago?" I asked again coldly.
"Unnie." She said quickly.
"Unnie?" I was surprised by her response, and I turned to face her, seeing her with her gummy smile. This view made my heart soften. Can I look at this face for the rest of my life? Only in your dreams, Lalisa.
"Jisoo unnie called and asked how the two of us were." She explained. I simply nod at her.
"What's wrong?" She asked, concerned.
"Nothing, I'm just curious why the two of you talked for so long?" I asked, but she just laughed. I breathed a sigh of relief as she spoke to Jisoo unnie rather than that guy.
"Trust me, you don't want to know the details. You know how much of a tease that chicken is." She chuckled.
But my conscience suddenly ate me up again, and I began to worry. What if I did something to her last night that she didn't want? What if something happened to us? What if she's only showing this side of herself because we're in front of my cousins? I now look into her eyes with a serious expression, and she does the same.
"What's wrong, Lisa?" She asked, not taking her gaze away from me.
"Jennie, can we talk about last night?" I gulped as I asked. She was about to respond when my crazy cousin interrupted us once more.
"Hey lovebirds! Stop flirting, the food is already here." Bambam said abruptly, so I tossed the other table napkin on his face, and he chuckled. Minnie just sighed as Jennie moved closer to me and began whispering in my ear.
"Let's just talk about it later."
