When we got to Evie’s place, I couldn’t help but stare at it.
“Nice place,” I commented.
“Thanks, I got a really good deal,” Evie said as we walked towards her place.
When we got inside, Sophia immediately made her way towards her little brothers and a whimpering Dizzy.
“Shh,” Sophia said, calming Dizzy down. “It’s okay. Don’t worry, Dizzy.” Sophia gently placed a blanket over her little brothers and Dizzy. “We can fix this. And once we do, they’re going to let all the kids come from the Isle. So, happy dreams.”
I smiled a small smile before following Evie, Uma, and Mal into a room.
“Uh, who’s the dude?” I asked, pointing at the sleeping guy on the floor.
“Doug?” Evie asked. “Doug! Wake up. Wake up.”
“He’s spelled,” I said, pointing out the obvious.
“Is she not a fast learner?” Uma asked.
“She’s emotionally involved, okay?” Mal said.
“Well, in that case, she should be able to wake him up,” Uma said.
Mal looked at her confused.
“True love’s kiss,” I said. “Works every time.”
“Well, we haven’t used the “L” word yet,” Evie said sheepishly. “Can we be alone?”
“Yeah,” Uma said, dragging me and Mal away from the door.
“We’re going back, right?” I asked.
“Oh yeah,” Mal said as Evie started singing.
“Don't freak out, it's okay, 'cause true love can save the day,” Evie sang as she threw a pin cushion and sat on a chair. “And I think we feel the same, but I don't know.”
We all watched as Evie spun in her chair before standing up.
“When we met, it was sweet, he was oh so into me, seems like things are meant to be, but I don't know,” Evie sang, laying on a table.
“Come on, Evie,” I whispered. “Just kiss him.”
“Right?” Uma whispered back as Mal shushed us.
“Does he love me? Or does he love me not?” Evie sang, rolling onto her side to look at a sleeping Doug. “Do I love him? And is it strong enough? One kiss.”
“One kiss,” Mal, Uma, and I repeated in unison, leaning closer in suspense.
“It all comes down to this,” Evie sang, getting off the table. “One kiss.”
“One kiss,” we all repeated again.
“Ohh. One kiss, one kiss. This moment could be it,” Evie sang, throwing her arms into the air. “I, I, I wanna know. So here I go.”
I watch as she leans towards Doug before standing back up and walking over to a mannequin, making me and Uma sigh.
“Keep it cool, keep it calm. Think he's loved me all along. But maybe I got it wrong. So I don't know,” Evie sang, sitting in another chiar and flipping her hair behind her. “He's so good, got my back. But maybe I'm just too bad. Could we be a perfect match?. Now, I don't know.”
“C’mon, Evie,” I sighed as Mal and Uma smiled at each other.
“Does he love me? Or does he love me not?” Evie sang, approaching a mirror. “Do I love him? And is it strong enough? One kiss.”
“One kiss,” Uma, Mal, and I repeat.
“It all comes down to this. One kiss,” Evie sang.
“One kiss,” we all repeated again.
“One kiss,” Evie sang.
“One kiss,” we repeated, the three of us growing impatient.
“This moment could be it. I, I, I wanna know,” Evie sang, putting a hat on her head. “So here I go. Yeah, here I go.”
I watch intensely before Evie walks outside.
“Is she even going to kiss him?” I whisper-ask Mal.
“I don’t know,” Mal whispers back. “Maybe.”
“Ugh,” I sigh. “I’m getting bored.”
“Then go see what Sophia’s doing,” Uma said, shooing me away.
“Fine,” I said, walking away from Uma and Mal.
I walk into the living room to see Sophia eating a piece of cake.
“Where’d you get that?” I asked.
“Not telling,” Sophia said.
“Whatever,” I said, rolling my eyes. “Where’s Celia?”
Just as I asked that question, Celia walked out of the kitchen, holding her own piece of cake.
“Have you tried this?” Celia asked, pointing at her cake with her fork. “It’s delicious.”
“I’ll go get some now,” I said, walking past Celia and grabbing a piece of cake.
When I walked back into the dining room, Sophia was gone.
“Where’d she go?” I asked, setting my cake on the table and sitting next to Celia.
“Apparently Evie finally kissed her boyfriend and woke him up,” Celia said. “Sophia wanted to see it.”
“I did too,” I said, getting some cake on my fork. “But I grew impatient and walked away.”
“Why?” Celia asked as I took a bite of the cake.
“Because Evie was singing about it rather than just leaning in and kissing him,” I explained.
“Would you do the same with Harry?” Celia asked, making my face turn red.
“I’d wake him up right away then smack him,” I said.
Celia laughed at my comment as Mal, Uma, Sophia, Evie, and Doug walked into the room.
