"What was so important that you had to leave your post by the door to come all the way up here to 'talk'. If I give someone a job I expect them to do it,"
"Ace, calm down. He's my childhood friend. The one I was talking about at the door," I butted in
"That's even worse. He knew you were getting abused and he left,"
"It's not like that, he had his reasons,"
"That's not an excuse,"
"If he knew that you were getting abused he shouldn't have left in the first place. What if you had died,"

"I have my reasons to care and you don't need to know because it's none of your business,"

"Shut the fuck up, I wasn't talking to you. What you need to do is get back to your god damn post,"
"There's no reason for you to be upset," Alex said
"It's okay. It was a mistake to come here in the first place," I brushed past Ace, walking out of the room and down the corridor
"Char wait," Alex stopped me
"Don't leave because of him. I've never forgotten you and I've been searching for you this entire time. The only reason why I took this job is because I heard that I'd be protecting someone named Charolette. Sure I took a gamble on the name, a lot of people are named Charolette but I still stuck around to see if it was you and honestly if it wasn't you, I would've ditched this job in a heartbeat. But at the door when you said you had a childhood friend named Alex, I knew that it was you and I can only bet that God caused us to reunite again. I can't lose you a second time, Char. Please. Let me do what I came here to do and protect you,"
This definitely isn't the Alex from my childhood. He was always so carefree and laughed at everything, always running jokes. He's never been serious a day in his life, not until now anyways
I sighed, giving him a small nod. As I did so a broad smile spread across his face
Damn, puberty did him good. Can't say the same for me though
"I have to get back to my post now, but if you ever need me, you know where to find me," he gave me one last smile before disappearing down the stairs
I looked down the opposite end of the corridor to see Curious George standing by the doorway, watching me as I made my way back to the room
"What were you two talking about?" he asked as I stepped into the room and sat on the bed
"Well, if you were actually listening to me instead of yelling you would know,"
"It's not my fault I got upset. How would you feel if the person you hired to protect someone was up here hugging the person instead of being at their post and doing their fucking job,"
"He was my childhood friend. What you saw is called a reunion. I don't see why you're getting to worked up about it. It's not like he left the premises," I rolled my eyes

"FUCKING TAKE ME HOME THEN!"
"What's going on?" I heard a small voice sound from the doorway. I looked behind Ace to see a little girl rubbing her eyes. She had dark brown hair that stopped at her lower back. She opened her eyes to reveal that she has sapphire blue eyes, just like Ace's
My heart is literally melting at the sight of her. She was the cutest little girl i've ever seen in my life
"Did we wake you?" Ace said softly, stooping down to her level
She replied by nodding her head lightly followed by a stretch and a yawn
"And I was having a good dream too," she pouted
"Yea? What was it about?" Ace smiled at her
"I was in a world with ice cream and chocolate and all my favorite foods," she smiled lightly
"Was it chocolate ice cream or was it cookie s and cream,"
"Both," she held up two fingers, a wide smile spreading across her face, her tiny dimples popping out
As if just noticing me, she looked in my direction, squinting her eyes
"Who's she,"
"She's my friend, she's going to be staying here for a bit," he turned to look at me then back at her
"Why?"
"There's a bad man after her so I brought her here to keep her safe,"
"Oh no," she said running up to me and climbing up on the bed
"Don't worry, you'll be safe here," she wrapped her tiny arms round my neck, hugging me. My arms automatically going to hug her back
I looked at Ace to see a slight smile on his face causing a small smile to appear on my lips
"Your hair is soft," she pulled away from the hug
"Thank you," I smiled at her
She nodded then sat on the bed beside me, swinging her legs. Not long after Ace decided to sit beside her
"So what do you want to do now?" he asked her
"I don't know, i'm bored and I kinda want ice cream but I also feel for KFC," she stared at her swinging feet
"We don't have KFC but there is ice cream in the freezer. I made sure to restock,"
"Then what are we waiting for," she hopped off the bed, smiling at us then running out the room
"Can I adopt her?" I laughed, turning to Ace, practically forgetting about our little argument earlier
"I'm afraid not. Mom and dad would KILL me. And added to that she's way too mature for her age. You'll see later on" he smiled walking out the door as I trailed behind him
When we reached the kitchen she was already standing on a chair to take the ice cream out of the freezer
"No, that's dangerous. We spoke about this already," Ace said taking her off of the chair and placing her on the floor
"I'm not a kid you know," she pouted, folding her arms
"Well you're not grown either," he took the ice cream from the freezer
She mumbled something under her breath before climbing up on a stool around the marble island counter
"What did you say?" Ace raised a brow at her
"Nothing," she quickly said
"That's what I thought," he placed a bowl of ice cream in front of her her, her face instantly lighting up
It took no time for her to begin devouring the ice cream. It was was weird how she held the spoon, yet cute at the same time
"Want some?" she held out the spoon to me with some ice cream on it which I happily ate
"Good, right?" she smiled at me and I nodded
I stood up and stretched my back as I've been bending over on the island counter-top this entire time
I froze when I saw Ace walking towards me
"What?" I asked as he stopped in front of me
"You have some some ice cream on your chin," he chuckled, placing his hands on both sides of my face
Well that's embarrassing
I felt his thumb graze past my chin, tingles instantly running up my spine
He then continued to lean in closer to me, my breath being caught in my throat
He's not going to do this right here, not with his sister right there. Is he?
I watched as he inched his face closer to mine, my heart starting to beat against my rib cage with each passing second. In no time my breathing became uneven. How am I suppose to be reacting, i'm not use to this. As he drew closer to me my gaze went down to his slightly parted lips as they came closer to my own
"You're welcome," he whispered, a smirk appearing on his lips as he leaned away from me
"Jeez, get a room," his sister said from the side causing me to snap back into reality, my face turning red hot
"You're so upsetting," I turned away
"You can say thanks you know," he chuckled behind me
"I'd rather not," I took a bottle of water from the fridge to cool me down, afterwards taking a seat beside his little sister
I uncorked the bottle gulping down the water
"Are you my brothers girlfriend," she said from beside me causing me to choke on the water, coughing uncontrollably
"What!" I exclaimed
"Are you," she pointed at me, "And my brother," she pointed at Ace, "In a relationship," she stared up at me waiting for me to respond
"No! Where did that question even surface from,"
"Just asking," she shrugged going back to eating her ice cream
I stared at Ace in shock but he just laughed
"I'm...going to go lay down," I left the water on the table making my way back up the stairs to look for my room
It took me some time to actually find the room again but I eventually did. He's going to need to lay out some arrows for me to follow
I walked into the room and flopped down on the bed, my mind instantly going back to what took place in the kitchen, my chest feeling tight as I replayed how close he was to me, just like in the halls at school
I got up to use the bathroom and quickly finished, ready to step back out when I heard voices in the room. I placed my ear on the door and listened to what they were saying
"You like her, don't you," I heard his sisters voice
Who's 'her'. Does Ace actually like someone
"What are you talking about," I heard him ask
"You know what i'm talking about. I know my big brother and you wouldn't go so close to her just to wipe ice cream off her chin,"
"Can't I be helpful anymore?"
"You wanted to kiss her didn't you,"

"Ace wanted to give her cooties," she laughed
Nevermind
"Where is she by the way," I heard him ask
"Maybe she got lost. The house isn't small you know,"
"I'm going to go check for her. Get some damn arrows to help direct her to her room,"
There was silence for a good while so I assumed that it was a good time to come out
I opened the door and peeped out, seeing his little sister sitting on the bed. I walked out with a slight smile on my face
"Hi, what are you doing?"
"I think my brother likes you," she looked at me
She's a very straightforward kid, isn't she
"I fully doubt that. So what's your name. I can't keep on calling you Aces little sister," I laughed
"Aren't introductions suppose to be done as you meet the person?"
This is the adult attitude Ace was talking about
"Well, yea but-,"
"Don't worry about it. I'm Arianna, and you're Charolette, right?"
"Yea, but how did you know?"
"You'll never know. But I do have a favor to ask,"
"What is it,"
"If you and my brother are dating please don't hurt him, don't leave his side. He's been through enough with Elaine,"

Our conversation was cut short due to Aces appearance in the room
