Luna's pov
-
"What do you mean something happened?" I questioned
"I received a message that your father has requested to see you. There wasn't anything else to it and I don't question Lucifer" she said
"So where are we going?"
"Home"
"This isn't the direction of-"
"We're going to hell Luna" she assured. I furrowed my brows
"How long for?"
"I don't know" she muttered, I groaned and sunk into my seat
I saw my father just yesterday, he then went right back home. What could he possibly need that was so urgent to come back to hell?
"I don't like this" Taylor said, I glanced in her direction and saw that she had her brows burrowed, her hands gripped the phone tightly
"What's wrong?"
"No one's picking up"
"At the castle?"
"At the gate" she groaned
"The hell is going on?" well more of, what is going on in hell but you catch my drift.
As uneasy as I was, I tried to avoid those weird thoughts from finding my head.
"I'll call the castle" Taylor said. I nodded and she placed the phone onto her lap on speaker.
The loud sound of the phone ringing played through the car, the tension in the room grew as each ring went by. I tapped my feet rapidly as I awaited an answer.
"Nothing" Taylor muttered when the call went blank
"I'll call" I mumbled and pulled my phone out. A whole minute went by and no answer, I tried again and still nothing.
"The heck is going on" I said
Taylor shrugged her shoulders and pulled out her laptop, James gripped the steering wheel and pressed his feet harder against the gas.
I leaned against the door frame, my head pressed against the glass. I noticed that the sky seemed unusual. The clouds were even darker than usual, the clouds were even darker than usual, almost pitch black, lightening struck the ocean far away but the sound echoed through the city. If I didn't know better, I'd say they were having a battle in heaven. I laughed to myself.
And there it was, the jet lag. My eyes slowly closed. I tried to fight it but the tiredness was more powerful. My head leaned back and my muscles became loose. I slowly drifted off into a state of unconsciousness.
--------------------
"Luna, Luna wake up" soft whispers came into my ear
I slowly stirred awake, the red glow of the city immediately brought me back to my senses.
"What happened?" I said in a raspy voice
"Ricardo picked up, we're actually pass the portal" Taylor whispered, I propped myself up
I glanced out the window and a smile appeared on my lips
Hell has definitely changed since I've last been here. Where there was bare land, was not an upcoming city. It was a city of wide avenues and small places to sit and eat, to relax as folk went about their day. There were the sky towers in the centre, what was once acres of land was a shopping mall. The rest was parks and wild spaces, a chance to walk among nature or enjoy the trails on bicycles or horseback.
Once, the smells of the previous state of hell were alien to me. The chaotic fragrance set me on edge. There was no tinge of earthy loam to the air, no fragrance of spring growth or heady warning when rain was due. Now these are the smells of home every bit as much as the old ones were, perhaps less healthy but reassuring nonetheless. The city air is fresh this day, almost sweet and floral as the pace of living relaxes to a steadier rhythm.
The car came to a halt. I smiled and slipped out the vehicle, it was slammed shut and my eyes trailed over the castle. The familiar roses in the bushes brought back a memory from when I was younger.
"God I missed home" I smiled. My feet went towards the steps, I guess the guards are out.
"We have a problem" Taylor said as she stepped foot out the car
"What?"
"Someone just destroyed the only portal to earth" she muttered.
My face fell faster than a corpse in cement boots. In that instant my skin became greyed, my mouth hung with lips slightly parted and my eyes were as wide as they could stretch.
"What!"
"Something's going on, I have to go check it out. James, stay with Luna" Taylor yelled, she grabbed the keys and jumped into the drivers seat. The smoke from the burning tires was left as the car faded away.
"Miss Amon, stay behind me" James said, his feet quickly found the steps and he pushed aside the door.
Who the hell destroyed the fucking portal? It's the only way to get back to earth. No. No I can't be stuck here. I just can't. I have a whole new life up there. A portal isn't something easy to build, when it's destroyed, there's no way of getting that back for years. My friends... My girlfriend... There's no way this is happening. I refuse to believe it. It's probably just some prank. I swear I'll lose myself if this isn't a joke.
"What the fuck is happening James" I muttered
"I'm not sure, but I have a feeling we're gonna find out" he said, his knees bent as his neck whipped around through each door
"No one's here" I whispered
"Exactly. No one is here, this place is always filled with demons"
"What do think happened?"
"I don't know" he whispered
"Should we check his offic-"
I was cut off by a loud bang, James and I both flinched at the sound. A deafening growl echoed through the walls, it vibrated through the floors.
Suddenly, footsteps were being heard. My neck snapped in its direction, a piercing sound came through my ear as James pulled a silver sword from the wall. He held a tight grip on the iron as we narrowed our eyes in the direction of the sound
"Oh God, Luna I'm so sorry. I'm sorry!" Maria yelled, I furrowed my brows at the woman
"What? Maria what's going on?"
"I'm so sorry, I'm so fucking sorry" she screamed, her arms wrapped around my stomach as the hot tears rolled down her cheek. She looked like a mess, her body trembled as her breathing became heavy.
"Maria, you have to talk to me. What happened?" I asked again
"I- it's, Lucifer. I'm so sorry" she cried, her muffled tears vibrated against my chest. I rolled my eyes, frankly this bitch was starting to piss me off
"What happened to my father?"
"He..she made me capture him. She made me control him!.... Medusa has him" she said
The blood drained from my face the second the name left her lips. My jaw clenched and the emotions drained through me.
My anger would came like an impossible build up of steam, burning me on the way out.
My eyes flickered jet black as the adrenaline coursed through my veins. My hands gripped the woman's body and raised her as if she was light as paper. She coughed when my hands gripped her throat, it was the only part of her body I held. Her fingers gripped mine as she tried to pry my hands open.
"Where. Is he." I said through gritted teeth
"I- Chamber" She squeaked out.
My grip on her faded. I let go and she fell to the floor. My eyes met the hallway. James nodded and ran towards the destination.
My feet hurried down the halls, I turned a corner and noticed two men running towards me. They pulled their swords and charged at me. How pathetic.
My hands lifted in the air and their bodies hovered. The men dropped their swords as I took control of their bodies, my hand aimed to the right and they were thrown into the wall.
My feet continued my oath towards the chambers, yes we had a jail in our home. It's hell afterall.
My feet echoed through the halls, my suspicions raised. It was far too quite, I glanced around but James was no where to be found.
My hands ran along the cold brick walls as I snuck into the basement, my hands quickly found the metal door and gave the knob a quick spin. It unlocked and I ran down the stairs. There still wasn't any sign of anyone else there. Soft droplets of water could be heard throughout the room, it was pitch black, my eyes glanced around as they strained to see anything. Everything was just so silent. I grew even more nervous, there's no way I'd find my father magically here on his own.
"Oh come on darling, if I wanted you dead, you would have been by now" a familiar voice rang through my ear. I shut my eyes tightly and inhaled a deep breath. My jet black eyes pierced through her silver ones
"Hello mother"
