Jasmine
The next morning
I checked out of my hotel early this morning and dropped Jasper back off at home.
I got to work and everyone in my department were scrambling.
"What's going on?"I asked walking into Jacob's office
"Drake and Pusha T are exchanging disses right now."He said
"Oh.What's being said?"I asked sitting down
"Push said some line about Quentin Miller.Drake just dropped a diss back last night.I just have everyone preparing for Pusha's reply."He said
I nodded."Okay.I'll try to get a hold of Aubrey."
He nodded."...Your ring?"
I looked down at my bare hand.
"Uh- Im gonna make some calls."I got up
I went to my office and Oliver was already there.
"Hello Oli."I said
"Hey.How you doing?"He asked
"Good.How are you?"I asked
He shrugged."Could be better."
"How can I make that happen?"I asked
"We need info on Pusha T.By 5 today."He said
I'd never seen him this stern.
"Okay.I'll see what I can do."I said
"No we need info.Do whatever's necessary."He said and left my office
I huffed."Okay."
I emailed almost everyone I knew that could possibly know something about him.Former G.O.O.D Music employees, bloggers, childhood friends..but nothing.
I know Aubrey's locked in the studio trying to write another response.
"How is this man squeaky clean?"I sighed
I didn't want to piss off Oliver so I asked Jacob to help me.
"We could try to bribe some of his homeboys..somebody's gotta break."He said
"Eh..that could just he used against Aubrey.That we had to pay for info."I sighed
"Right.."He said
We spent a few more hours working on information.
"Everything Drake already said is all we have."Jacob told me
I nodded."Okay well I'll go talk to Oli."
I went upstairs to Oliver's office.
There I saw Chubbs and Aubrey with him.
"Uh Im sorry to interrupt guys."I knocked
"Come in."He said
I opened the door and Chubbs smiled.
"Jas.Hey sis."He said
"Hey Chubbs."I slightly smiled
Aubrey ignored my presence.
"Uh- so we've found literally nothing.He's clean."I said
I watched Aubrey's face fill with anger.
"I-Im sorry.I'll stay late to try to work on so-
"Jasmine."Oli stopped me
"Work harder.Find something."He said
I nodded."Okay."
"Go."Aubrey finally said
I huffed and turned to leave.
"Wait.No ring?"Chubbs looked at my hand
Aubrey's head popped up.
"I have to go."I said
I left the office and sighed.
I worked through my lunch so I was starting to get hungry.I didn't eat breakfast either.
I went to the lobby quickly and went to the cafeteria to grab a salad and sandwich.When I got back to my office Aubrey was there.
"Hey."I said lowly closing the door
"Hey."He said
I sat down.
"You okay?"I asked
He shrugged.
"Where's your ring?"He asked
I sighed.
"Really?"I said
"I just wanna make sure you're okay."He said
"Im fine."I said
"What happened?I heard that he came up here acting an ass."He said
"People heard that?"I groaned
He nodded.
I shook my head."Im sorry."
"Don't apologize.Talk to me."He said
I dropped my eyes from his.
I explained what happened.
"Im sorry Jas."He said
I shrugged.
"Can I treat you to lunch?"He asked me
I chuckled."I already have lunch and Im really busy."
"C'mon.I wont tell."He said
"...Fine."I said
He smiled.
I got up and grabbed my purse and followed behind him.
We headed to a little mexican restaurant a few blocks away.
We were seated in the back.
"How are things going being a dad?"I asked lowly
"It's hard..hard as fuck.Especially with Sophie being so delusional."He shook his head
"What do you mean?"I asked
"She thinks we're gonna be together."He said looking at his menu
"Mm."I nodded
"I wouldn't trade my boy for the world but she's fucking crazy."He said
I slightly chuckled.
"How are things going with the uh- fertility treatment?"He asked
I shrugged.
"Im going in next week to get my eggs extracted.Hopefully we get some good ones."I said
"So are you staying with him?"He asked me
"Hey, sorry for the wait.Can I take your orders?"A waitress interrupted us
We ordered and continued our conversation.
"Yea I am."I said
"You serious?"He asked
"Uh..yeah."I said
"Why wouldn't I?"I asked
"He had a naked bitch in his house..dancing on him."He said
"Aubrey.."I sighed
"What?You deserve better than that."He said
"You mean you."I said
"Yes!"He exclaimed
"You make it really hard to hang out with you.Every time we're near each other you're trying to strong arm me into a relationship with you."I said
"Jasmine I love you.You know that."He said
"I can't be with you."I said
"Why not?"He asked
I sighed.
"I don't think I'll be able t-to accept him."I said shakily
His eyes softened.
"How will I help raise him without feeling resentment?I don't think I can do it."I quickly dabbed my eyes
"Jas.."He grabbed my hand
"Why don't you come meet him?I mean even if we aren't together..I'd love for you to meet him."He said
I tried to stop myself from smiling.
"I don't thin-
"He's at my place with my mom."He said
"Your mom?No."I shook my head
"She's been asking about you."He said
"Aubrey I have to go back to work."I said
"Okay so when you get off come over."He said
I looked at him.
"I'll think about it."I said
Just then my phone started ringing.It was Travis.
I declined his call and turned my phone off.
We started to eat and talk some more.He shared stories about Adonis peeing,puking and pooping on him.Fatherhood looks good on him.
When I got back to work there were photos of us online.I didn't really care but I knew Travis would.
I finally called him back.
"Why weren't you answering the phone?"He asked
"Im at work."I said simply
He sighed."Look Jas.I fucked up and Im sorry."
"You sure did."I said
I started sending more emails.
"Where were you last night?I went to your place."He asked
"I-
"Were you with him?"He asked
"Travis..you're really starting to work my nerves.I was at a hotel because I knew you'd come looking for me.Stop being so fucking insecure."I huffed
He was silent.
"Why are you accusing me of cheating so much?I know it didn't look good but I haven't ever given you a reason to think I'd do that to you."I said
He still didn't say anything.
"Okay well Im gonna hang u-
"Wait!No.Im just..I don't know babe.I've never felt this this about anyone before.You know that..Im scared.Im putting my all into this and Im afraid of getting my heartbroken."He opened up
"I know that this is scary.Things are really serious but you proposed..you didn't just ask me to be your girlfriend.You asked for me to be your wife.That was your choice.If we need to slow down that's okay."I said
"No."He said
"We should talk later.In person."I said
"Okay..I'll be home when you get here."He said
"Okay.I love you."I said
"I love you too."He said
Once 5 o'clock hit I knew I'd have to explain to Oli that neither me nor my team could find anything.
I went to his office and he wasn't there.
"Hey, where's Oliver?"I asked his assistant
"He's speaking with Partynextdoor and his team in the conference room.They should be out any minute."He said
"Okay."I nodded and sat in his office
About 10 minutes later he joined me.
"So what do you have for me?"He asked
I huffed."..Nothing."
"Nothing?"He questioned
"Yup.."I said
"So why were you galavanting with Aubrey today if you couldn't find anything?!?You need to focus.This is a multimillion dollar business that runs off of him!If there's even a crack in his image we go down!We can't afford for anything to happen.This is on you."He fussed
I tried to remain professional.I didn't appreciate the yelling but I know he has a lot of weight on his shoulders.
"I did everything I could Oliver.You can yell at me all you want to.That's not going to get us anywhere."I said
He shook his head."Get out of my office Jas."
I got up and left the room.I quickly went to the parking garage and headed to my car.I called Aubrey.
"Hello?"
"Does your offer still stand?"I asked
"It sure does.Im home."He said
"Okay I'll be there soon."I said
I drove over to his house in Calabasas and rung the door bell.
A tiny woman answered the door.
"Oh you must be Jasmine.Come on in honey."She smiled
I returned the favor and stepped inside.
"It's so nice to finally meet you Ms.Graham."I said
"It's nice to meet you too."She hugged me
I heard baby talk in the distance.
We went into the living room and I was met with Aubrey and Adonis on the floor playing.
I started to tear at the sight.
"I know.It's hard to believe."She rubbed my shoulder
"Hey Jas.Come here."He said
I went over to them and sat down.
"Hi Adonis."I smiled
He reached for me at the sound of his name.
"Ooh sweet boy."I cooed as I held him
"Aubrey oh my gosh."I said staring at his blue eyes
"See.I knew you'd feel differently once you met him."He said
"So Jasmine are you staying for dinner?"She asked
"Oh no.I have to head home soon."I shook my head
She nodded."Maybe next time."
"Yes ma'am.Of course."I smiled
I rocked Adonis gently as he started to babble.
The he started to pull at my shirt.
"Oh no I don't have any milk."I chuckled
Aubrey watched me as I talked to Adonis.I know this is what he wants.
After about an hour, I decided to head home.Aubrey walked me to my car.
"Thank you for coming over."He said
"Thank you for having me."I said
"Can I kiss you?"He said coming close
"Aub..."I said lowly
He smiled."I know.."
"Kiss me."I finally said
He grabbed my chin and kissed me slowly.
I wrapped my arm around his neck.
"Oh I love you."I moaned in between kisses
"I love you too."He pulled away
Once I realized what we just did I took a few steps back.
"Oh no."I huffed
"Calm down.It's okay.Your secrets safe with me Jas."He kissed my forehead
"I-I have to go."I stuttered
I got into my car and quickly headed home.
Why would I do that?
