"So let me get this straight-" James said, rubbing his forehead. They had contacted James by owl and his head was now sitting in the fireplace. She had shrieked when she saw it, but now that she was in the wizarding world, she wasn't very surprised anymore. "You want to use my invisibility cloak," He said slowly, "To steal a book?" Rose nodded sheepishly. "We're not stealing, we'll be borrowing. There's a difference."

James groaned and muttered something inaudible. "In my days at hogwarts, I used it to sneak up on my friends to get a laugh, " He said. "But I never stole or borrowed anything. Though I did hear dad used to use it to go around at night undetected..." He sighed. "Do you have any idea how much trouble you'll be in if Filch finds you? Even Mrs. Norris?"

Rose nodded. "But I've done some research-" James rolled his eyes. "Of course you did." Rose glared, even though James was a whole head taller than her- though right now, he was a head. "This invisibility cloak is a true invisibility cloak, it's reliable, and your dad never got caught, remember?" James closed his eyes. "Just promise me one thing, will you?" Sophie answered this time. "Anything." "Don't tell dad I gave it to you." His head popped away. Rose grinned at her. "Mission accomplished."

James kept his word- and so did they. Neither her friends nor Harry knew about their deal with the oldest Potter brother. So when an owl bearing the cloak came to their dormitory, a suspicious Fitz was told it was a package of fizzing whizbees. What a week, Sophie thought as Rose and Sophie prowled to the library. It was a perfect fit, ending just at their toes- another inch and they would have been goners. She saw Mrs. Norris slip past, breathing a sigh of relief when Filch went after her.

They stopped in front of the restricted section. "Alohomora," Rose whispered. The padlock dropped down, and Sophie caught it and rested it onto the shelf beside her. They inched towards the farthest section of the library. "Here," Rose whispered. Sophie reached up to the book she was indicating. It was a large leather one, which read, Darkest Beasts of Wizarding History. Clutching the book to her chest like priceless treasure, they crept back to the entrance of the restricted section.

Rose locked the door, so not to be suspicious, and they headed back to the dormitory. Suddenly, her hands slick with sweat, the book slid to the floor with a thud. She grabbed it, as quick as a flash, but not before Filch came lumbering towards them, holding a lantern. "Who's there?" Her options raced through her head, settling on the one that did not include jinxing the caretaker. She grabbed Rose's hand, hoping to convey the message, trust me.

She lifted the two of them into the air. Rose's grip tightened as Sophie levitated them to safety. Pass the caretaker and his cat, back to the fat lady's portrait. She pulled off the cloak. "Hey!" The fat lady woke up. "What are you two doing?" Rose interrupted. "Well, you look lovely today, I think." Sophie caught on. "Yes, you're right, Rose, why does it seem that she looks so particularly beautiful today?"

The fat lady smiled. "You really think so?" They nodded in unison, plastering smiles on their faces. "Well, come in then," She giggled, completely forgetting to ask for the password. The two girls exchanged a quick smile as the portrait swung open. It closed just before a distinct, "Where are they?" reached their ears. "That was close," Rose said."From now on, night prowlings out." Sophie nodded her head vigorously. She had enough adventures for a thousand year lifetime.
