LISA

"Oh my gosh, I miss you so much, my baby Lali! I'm glad you canceled your flight to Thailand." I look behind me, and you can see complete shock on my face. I look at Jisoo unnie, and she's also agape. 'Damn, I'm screwed.'

"G-Good evening, Mrs. Manoban." Jisoo unnie suddenly said and bowed to my mother.

"Good evening, Jisoo." My mother says as she let go of me and hugs unnie. "As always, you look stunning. Is that Dior you're wearing?" She inquired, scanning unnie.

"Mom, why are you here? I thought you were in Paris?" I asked. I'm still surprised to see her at home. I assumed she was still on her shopping spree in Europe.

"I'm tired of traveling and shopping. Besides, I'd like to see you my baby. I haven't seen you in a long time. I'm glad you canceled your flight because I was planning on following you and your dad to Thailand." She clung to me again. My mom never changes, she always thinks I'm still her baby. I'm starting to get shy now, and I don't want unnie to see this because she will tease me for sure when we're alone.

"Mom, let go of me. I need to talk to dad, and it's very important." I told her as I took her hands off me.

"Oh, be careful my baby, your father is upset because you canceled your flight today." My mother warned. Jisoo and I exchanged glances and gulped.

"Lisa, I think I'll just wait for you in the car until you finish talking with your dad." Unnie said as she began to walk away from us, but my long arms allowed me to grab her hand.

"No unnie, come with me, I can't do it alone." I begged, refusing her to leave.

"What's the matter with you two?" My mother chuckled.

"Mom, I need you to join us, please." I said.

"If it is about business, no. I'm only interested in your personal life, my baby girl." She stated solemnly. I'm not talking to my mother and just stared at her sincerely, like pleading for help because I'm in trouble.

"Oh, it's a first time. I'm so excited. I'm going to ask the maids to serve us tea before I go there." She said as she clapped her hands and walked away.

I'm not prepared to face the two of them, but I don't have a choice. My mother will be aware of it as well. I just need to brace myself because I know how she'll react. I had intended to tell everything over the phone, but she unexpectedly returned home. What a stroke of luck! I want to cry.

"Unnie, please don't leave me now. Dad won't be mad with me if there's a visitor." I said to unnie as we walked to the study room.

"Lisa, I'm going to smack you after this. it never occurred to me that we'd be talking to both of your parents today." Jisoo unnie said quietly as we entered the room. We noticed Dad sitting on his table. His brow furrowed, staring at his laptop. He has the same expression on his face but abruptly changed when he sees that I have come with someone.

"Good evening, Dad." I said as I kissed his cheeks.

"Good evening, Mr. Manoban." Jisoo unnie said and bowed to him.

"Good evening, Miss Kim." Dad said as he motioned us to sit on the chairs in front of him, and then my mother came in with a maid behind her to serve us tea.

"Marco, stop working. Your daughter needs to tell you something, and I'm really excited because it's not about business. I'm so glad she has a life now besides that." My mother chastises my father and closes his laptop. He furrows his brows again and looks at me.

"What is it, Lisa? Did you do something? Why are you so tense?" He knows when I'm nervous. He casts a curious glance at unnie and me.

"Marco, don't scare them. How can she talk if you're like that?" Mom reprimanded dad while standing on his side.

"D-dad....uhmmmm." Oh my god, I'm sweating now because I'm nervous. I notice that unnie's hands are trembling as she drinks the tea that the maid has brought us. She's also extremely nervous.

"DadMomImGettingMarried," I said quickly.

"What? We can't understand you, Lisa. Speak slowly." Dad said. I took a deep breath and resumed speaking.

"Dad, Mom, I'm getting married." I said, closing my eyes. Then there was a scream. When I opened my eyes, I saw my mother screaming with joy and running over to hug Jisoo unnie. Why is she hugging her? While my father is frozen on his seat, staring at me.

"Oh my Gosh, I can't believe the two of you are going to end up together. I thought my baby was more interested in your cousin." My mother exclaimed. Jisoo unnie is stunned and unable to move. Dad looks at them, then back at me. I shake my head, indicating that they are incorrect. I went to my mom and tried to get her away from unnie. If Chipmunk finds out about this, she will kill me.

"Mom, it's not her! I'm not going to marry Jisoo unnie. Do you want Rosie to kill me. My gosh! How can you think I'm going to marry her?" I scowl at her.

"Lisa, your attitude." Dad sternly said.

"I'm so sorry, please let me explain first." I said to them before returning to my seat, while my mother returned to my father's side as well. While Jisoo unnie remained frozen on her seat.

"I'm so sorry." I mouth to unnie.

"So, why are you both here together if she's not the one? Who are you going to marry my baby Lali?" My mother asks, her face dejected. "I hope my future daughter-in-law is as sophisticated and beautiful as Miss Jisoo Kim." She said. This is why I don't want to tell her this in person. I'm sure she'll exaggerate.

My father is simply watching us and waiting for my response. He's not saying anything, but I know he's just absorbing everything.

"Unnie is only here to support me." I explained to them.

"She's right, Mr. and Mrs. Manoban. I'm just here to support her." Wow, Jisoo unnie is speaking now.

My father nods and looks at me again. "So, Lisa, who is it? If you don't tell us soon, your mother will pass out." Dad joked, but with a serious expression. Why is he acting this way?

"I hope it's not just a random girl Lisa." My father said. I gulped again at his words, hoping that when I said who it was, they would accept her.

"She's not just any random girl, dad. You already know her. Jennie. I'm going to marry Jennie Kim." I told them seriously. My mother screams again after they have both processed what I have said, then rushes over to me and tightly embraces me.

"Finally, my wish has come true. Not to offend you, Jisoo, but Jennie is my first choice on my list for my baby Lali's future wife." She said, turning to face Jisoo unnie. Unnie smiles at her, and my mother hugs her once more because she is overjoyed.

My parents were unaware of Jennie's relationship with Mino because they were constantly traveling abroad. I'm glad Jennie and Mino didn't go out in public all the time because they just started dating. They are unaware that she is in another relationship.

"I had no idea you and Jennie were dating. I thought you'd always be best friends. I'm so happy. I always pray for this day to come. I'm so happy for you my baby." My mother kissed my cheeks again. I smiled at her, but it was a fake smile because everything that would happen was a lie.
'I'm so sorry, mom.' Tears are now forming in my eyes but I immediatley wiped it when I hear my father's voice.

"Where is Miss Jennie Kim, Lisa? And why isn't she the one who comes with you? The two of you should come together and tell us about this." He asked sternly.

"Dad, her mother is not feeling well today. Maybe she got excited too when we told her we were getting married. So I asked Jennie to look after her instead. I told her that we could go together to ask for your blessing when mom gets home so we could talk to both of you." I lied to him.

"I thought I'd tell you first, dad, so you don't get surprised when we come together to ask for your blessing. I didn't realize mom would come home today, so I have no choice but to tell you both now." I explained.

His intimidating stare is on me now, and I want to sink into my seat to avoid his gaze.

"But why didn't you tell me this morning and why do you still have to accept my offer to help Bambam in Thailand?" He asked sternly.
'Damn, I forgot about it.'

"About the wedding, I want to tell you about it personally dad because it's so important to me. And about your offer, I accepted it earlier because I thought it would only take days to help Bambam but when I called him, he said that it might take weeks or months for the company to improve. I can't wait that long for me to get married to Jennie, so I have to cancel it and talk to you first about it. I don't want to disappoint you, dad." I said while fidgeting my fingers. I need to call Bambam later because my father may call him and ask about this.

"Don't be so hard on her, Marco. She's just in love, can't you see?" My mother said, but my father just gave her a blank face. "How long have you been together, my baby Lali, and when did you propose to her? I want to know the details." My mother asked. I'm just going to lie to her again.

"We've been dating lowkey for almost six months. Yesterday, when we went to our vacation house in Jeju, asking for the help of our friends to set everything up. I proposed to her and I'm the happiest when she said yes." I lied. If only my mother knew what really happened that night. I confessed to her, but she turned me down. Damn, the pain in my chest returned. Jisoo unnie coughed after I said it, and we all looked at her.

"Are you okay, unnie?" I asked.

"Yes, yes, don't worry about me." Jisoo unnie said as she drank her tea once more. She's not a tea drinker, but I believe she's in her third cup right now.

"You're so sweet, my baby Lali." My mother squealed again. She's acting like a teenager right now, and I'm concerned about how she'll react when she sees Jennie. Jennie will undoubtedly feel uncomfortable. I'm still thinking, when Dad speaks again.

"Aren't the two of you moving fast in your relationship? You've only been dating for months." My father commented.

"I've known her all my life, dad, and I'm more than ready to share my entire life with her." I said, and my father smirked. I haven't seen that smile in a long time.

"You're a true Manoban." He said to me.

"So, when is the wedding? I want an extravagant wedding for the both of you. I want to invite all of our families and friends from all over the world, and I can't wait to introduce them to my gorgeous daughter-in-law." My mother said, and my eyes widened.

"We've decided to marry in three days, and we only want a small wedding with a few family members and friends." I told them. I know it may seem impossible, but with my family's wealth, I am confident that we can do a simple wedding ceremony.

"What?!" My parents exclaimed at the same time. Jisoo unnie is also taken aback by what I've said, but there's nothing I can do because we don't have enough time.

"Lisa, three days? Did you get her pregnant?" My mother almost yelled at me.

"MOM! Of course not. You know that's impossible, you know our situation. She's not pregnant." I exclaimed to her.

"It's possible now, you fool. You think we don't know about the IVF procedure. What if the two of you are already doing that? We don't know what's running through your head, Lalisa Manoban." My father said, using my full name. I can feel him getting angry now.

"I swear dad, she's not pregnant. We just want to get married already. I love her so much. Please, we only want an intimate wedding dad." I almost cried while telling him.

My mother is now teary eyed and has returned to hug me. While my father gives me a serious look.

"Lisa, I only want one thing from you. I don't care if you get married right now. I just don't want you to forget your responsibilities. Promise me that. I will not oppose your wedding. I've known that girl since she was a child, and I know she's a good person. Honey, call our close family members in Thailand tonight and tell them to fly here in Seoul tomorrow morning on our private plane, and Lisa, since Miss Jisoo Kim is already here. I want you to invite their family for dinner tomorrow so we can talk about the wedding." My father said solemnly.

"I promise to be more responsible, dad. Thank you so much to both of you, for letting me spend my life with Jennie." I said to both of them, and my father nodded.
