(Jack's POV)
I had been about to curse King Beast, just like he was once upon a time, when a firm hand gripped my shoulder.
And a familiar voice said, "Stop, Jack." It was a voice I hadn't expected.
I turn and see, I'm not imagining things...
Daddy...he was here!
"D-daddy..." I choke out. I stared at my father who had sacrificed his freedom for mine.
We hadn't seen each other for nine months...
"How..?" I gasp, staring at him.
"How did he get out!?" Jay yelled.
I glare at him, feeling my icy darkness swirl.
"Jackson Overland Pitchiner Frost!" My dad snaps. He gives me a serious look. "Control your fear, don't let it control you."
Dad grips my hand. I squeeze back.
"How did you escape the Isle, Pitch?" King Beast demanded.
I feel a growl emerging from my throat.
Daddy smiles condescendingly. "Every prisoner has a door, My Dear Beast, even if it's a barrier... You're welcome, by the way, I'm sure you're glad I stopped my poor child from cursing you back to what you really are."
King Beast growled. Belle and Fairy Godmother held his arms, warningly.
"In fact," Daddy added, "I'm feeling so generous, I'm going to send you all back home. Ta-ta!"
With a snap of his finger, nightmare sand teleported everyone in the cages back to where I got them from.
Now it was just me and Daddy. I looked away, suddenly feeling ashamed.
"Jack," Daddy approached me. "I'm so sorry."
I couldn't help it, I rushed into his arms, sobbing my soul out. So much had happened...I always had to be the strong one. Always had to pick up the pieces. Finally, my Daddy was back. And while I'd lost so many others, I'll never see again...I just want to cry in the one fate sent back to me.
"Daddy, I-Elsa-I got...married-she's dead....saved...m-me..." I gasp, trying to tell Daddy all that had happened since we last saw each other.
"Shhhh." Daddy stroked my hair, as he always did. "I know, my son, I know."
"You know!?" I sat up in shock. "How? And how DID you get out of the Isle? And what...?"
I stare at him in confusion.
"Your allies, discreetly used Fairy Godmother's wand to liberate me and Hades. Currently, he's trying to make up with his wife..."
"What!? Maleficent!?!" My mouth falls open in shock.
"She's not truly evil, Jackson. She was driven mad by the magic barrier...we need to take that thing down."
"Wait! You know about the Isle and the-"
"Bridge. Yes. You see, before your...wife....died....she was able to send a frozen memory to Anna, her sister, it explained the basics."
"How did they know Elsa died?" It hurts to say her name...
"Olaf." Daddy said softly.
"No..." I knew what that meant. Olaf died the same day Elsa died.
I feel more tears fall.
"Jack, I know you are heartbroken, angry, and lost; but you cannot give into your fear..."
I look up at Daddy, my eyes still streaming.
"You embraced my powers. I...wish you hadn't, but what's done is done. You need to set aside your grief, because the final fight is coming. But you must remember, your decision to link your powers of cold and dark have consequences...you will always walk the path of light and shadow."
Daddy looks so sorrowful. I now wish I hadn't been so rash.
"I'm sorry, Daddy..." I whisper.
He hugs me again, even tighter.
"Daddy?" I ask after a long silence.
"Yes, my child?"
"I want to choose a new name."
"Whatever for?"
"I'm not who I was before, and I need to remember to control myself with my new powers."
"I see. Understandable. What name were you considering?"
"You said I will always walk the path of light and shadow, so why not remind myself of that through a name like: Nightlight."
"Sounds perfect for its task."
I grin. I am Nightlight.
