Chapter 34

3rd person POV

Low upbeat music could be heard through the endless chattering yet people were minding their own business. Teenagers messing around in the food court. High school girls giggling about cute boys and goofing around while the school boys portrayed the "I'm too cool for this attitude" and looked at the girls passing in front of them hoping to get a date. Women and men who looked like runway models and looked intimidating to approach passed through the crowd of people. Kids running around followed by angry parents who scowled them for not holding their hands. Elderlies hanging around the coffee shops and having their daily heated argument about golf.

The everyday usual of what happens in a mall.

Almost.

Near the fountain stood a flustered looking police officer. He was probably in his late twenties and had a certain charm to him. People passing by him couldn't help but stare at him in awe.

"Reece calling Mariah, " The man looked at the walky-talky as if he was going piss his pants.

"Mariah." The voice called again from the walky-talky.

"Sh*t," Murmured Caleb as he looked down at the device in pure petrification.

"MARIAH"

He winced at the roaring voice as people passing by sent questioning looks to which he reassured by sending a forced smile.

"Caleb here Reece" He finally gulped out as he walked around not to gain attention.

"Where is she?" The annoyance in Reece's voice could clearly be heard.

"She is with me, " Caleb responded calmly.

A little too calmly.

A sigh frustration could be heard from the caller.

"Then why is she not answering?"

"She went to the washroom, " Caleb fished an excuse.

Truth is he had no idea where she was, but he knew if he told him the truth he would only get in more trouble.

"Make sure she doesn't do anything reckless" Reece ordered.

"Roger that"

'I really hope you don't get me fired this time Mariah,' he thought to himself.

Some things in life don't make sense.

No matter how hard you try... There's no answer.

At times you don't know what to do.

If something was meant to be it will be.

No encounter is ever coincidental.

It's just that sometimes there no sense to it.

In every word, action, decision there's an impact.

Just that some reasons are left unknown.

There she was, the same yet so different.

Bella Mariah Wilson.

The girl, now a woman, who disappeared six years ago is now back to her hometown because her job required her to transfer here.

She still didn't how to feel about that.

The thought of facing her past scared her.

There she was among the crowd with a pair of headphones blasting music. She was aimlessly walking lost in her thoughts and it was clear that something seem to be bothering her. Suddenly, she slapped herself in the face. People were sending her weird looks but she couldn't care less. She nodded her head decidedly as she walked looking forward.

Her eyes, average height, and clothing style still were the same old same old. She wore a black leather jacket as she used too but a more figure-fitting one paired with a white crop top inside and her all-time favorite black legging and white shoes.

Her usual straight, long, and brown hair was now shoulder length with loose curls toward the end. Her eyes held wisdom. Her body looked curvier yet healthy. She has always been attractive, but today she looked beautiful as she radiated off confidence.

Suddenly she slammed into a body yet she was able to gain balance.

Apparently her clumsiness is something she still had.

Her headphones fell out and she was able to catch them before they fell on the floor.

Her grey eyes met a pair of hazel eyes and for a second everything seemed to be forgotten. She quickly pulled herself together as she gave him one last glance before trying to slip away as though nothing happened.

The man held her wrist to prevent her from disappearing.

"Bella," Ace whispered in shock.

Bella froze on spot. She clutched tightly her headphones. She could feel the warm heat coming from where he was holding her. It almost looked like a scene from a movie and people couldn't help but give them a glance.

He pulled her arm leading her to a less crowded place as she expressed her clear distaste.

"Excuse me could you let go of my hand. Hello? Ahh heck nah I am not going anywhere with you! I am telling you I have a gun and I could make your brain explode. I may look vulnerable, but dude I can kick your arse and would make you unrecognizable even to your mother's eyes." She ranted as she was being pulled away against her will.

When they finally reached a quiet place. He stood there just examining her. That was her voice. He couldn't believe it. His dead best friend stood  right in front of him. He looked at her attentively and sure enough, it was her. She stared back at him emotionlessly before pulling back her arm from his grasp and scowled at him, showing her distaste with the situation.

"And who are you?" She raised her left brow in questioning manner.

He was still drinking her in her appearance.

She huffed but before she could turn around, Ace pinched her nose.

"Owww, what the heck dude," She yelped in disbelief.

"I was just making sure this wasn't a dream." He sheepishly explained.

"What? Then just pinch yourself" She said incredulously as she glared at him.

"I thought you were dead,'' He ignored her comment and spoke in all seriousness.

"Was that suppose to be some sort pick up line or something?"

He pulled her in a deadlock as he ruffled her hair, "Stop messing around Bella, I know it's you and I know you know what I am talking about. Do you realize how worried I was for you? Everybody was... What happened?" Ace inquired.

"First, who the hell is Bella, second thanks for worrying about me, but as you can see I'm still alive so please move on with your perfectly peaceful life." She said as pulled out of his grasp.

Ace stood there flabbergasted. He came to the mall to buy a birthday present for Beau. Never did he think that he would have met Bella at the mall.

Never did he think he would meet her again.

For goodness sake  she disappeared for six years and for those six years, everyone believed she was dead.

'Why? What happened to her and why did she react in such a way.' He thought to himself.

It was obvious that something was wrong and he was planning to figure it out.

***

She knew he will come after and so she hurried to hide in the washroom. She couldn't take a chance she practically flashed into the washroom and locked herself in the stall. Then she finally let a sigh out.

'Why am I hiding in the washroom from a random dude."

"Hi," a man's voice could be heard in the stall next to hers which totally took her unexpectedly as she practically had a mini heart attack.

She patted my heart and let out a breath.

'This was totally a scene from a horror movie next thing I know a face is probably going to appear scaring the living daylights out of me.' She thought to herself.

She gulped and turned slightly to the right and then slowly to the left.

She almost started to believe that she could hear voices from the dead.

Then she finally turned to the right and looked on the floor to notice huge sneakers to the stall next to hers.

"No way," She whispered-yelled.

She then looked through the holes of her stall door to see as she would call, 'the weird bowls were dudes usually pee.'

She let out a cry as she realized that she came to the men's washroom she repeatedly hit her head with the stall's door.

"Hello?" the man called out again.

She bit her lip before she let out a breathless, "Hey".

"What's up?" The neighbor dude asked.

"Nothing much just the ceiling. Hahaha. Well, I was doing fine until I saw someone and like my blood starting pumping faster, my heart was about to explode and I was going to burst into tears but I never saw him before so I ran and well that's pretty much it. How about you?" She asked as she played with her leather jacket.

"Wait man, there's a moron here answering me." Neighbor stall dude said.

She blushed as her whole body was burning.

She forced herself out of her stall and washed her hands as the door of the washroom opened and a hot dangerous-looking man entered. She smiled at him sheepishly from the mirror at his surprised/questioning gaze.

Another thing that still remained the same was that  Bel... no Mariah still attracted trouble wherever she went.

SSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO What do y'all think? I'm excited about the next chapter cuz it's going to be fun. I just love Bella she is for sure my favorite character.
