So I'm fixing this story up a little. And some things might change just a little but nothing dramatic!

CHAPTER 1:

Do you ever get the feeling that nobody likes you? I was walking down the hall when I saw Brittany and her friends doing their make up at their lockers. I envied them, they had it all, the looks, the perfect body, and the guys. I continued to stare at them when Brittney’s best friend, Amber, looked up and caught me looking at them. She nudged Brittany and nodded at me, I saw Brittany turn around and look at me before I turned my head down and quickened my pace. But it was too late, Brittany was in my way giving me one of her fake smiles.

            “Hey Rain.” She said.

“Um hi.” I said shyly. I tried to step around her, but she blocked my way again.

“Where are you going?” She said demandingly while making me back up to a locker. Her friends gathered around me in a tight circle so nobody could see what was happening. I tried to look for a way out but it was no use, they were like a wall.

“I asked you a question.” Brittany said through her teeth, “I want an answer.”

“Umm, I was just going to my umm locker.” I replied in a quiet voice. Oh please God, I thought. Let them just leave me alone. I can’t take it when they corner me like this.

“What? Rain, sorry but I can’t hear you. Can you speak louder? Or are you just going to stand there like a fucking freak?” She said laughing and soon all her other friends were too. I felt tears sting the back of my eyes and I bit down on my bottom lip to stop me from crying. I tried to push through Brittany and her friends but somebody pushed me back.

“Where are you going?” Amber asked, “We’re not done talking to you.”

“Yea loser, don’t you know it’s rude to walk away when someone’s talking to you? God, for a nerd you sure are stupid.” As Brittany said the insults at me I felt a tear slip down my face, I looked down before they saw. But again it was too late, they already saw.

“Awww, Brit we made her cry.” Amber said.

“Oh boohoo, we’re sooo sorry.” Brittany fake apologized. And she started to laugh again with everyone else.

This time I shoved through them and they let me go still laughing as I ran down the hall. I turned the corner and dumped into someone causing me to loss balance, but a hand caught me before I could fall. I looked up to see that Josh, the star basketball player and the hottest guy in the school looking down at me. My heart skip a beat when I saw him, I looked down at his hand on my arm and blushed a little.

“Woow, be careful.” He said, and continued walking down the hall.

The place where his hand was on my arm was tingling. He’s basically the only guy in the whole school that isn’t completely mean to me, and I didn’t even apologize when I dumped into him! Great! Just great! He probably thought I was rude or something. I sighed and headed down to my locker. When I got there I spun the dial and got my books I needed for the morning. I had Chemistry, History and Math before lunch, most of the courses I’m taking are all in the academic level and I’m taking some grade twelve courses like Physics, chemistry, biology and Math. I have a thing for science, I kinda want to be a doctor when I grow up. So I’m planning on finishing school a year early, and get a head start in University.

“Rain!” A voice called making my jump in surprise.

I looked up to see my science teacher, Miss. Leah standing outside her door gesturing for me to go over to her.

“I need to talk to you for a minute.” She said with a bright smile on her face.

Miss. Leah is my favourite teacher, not only did she make things fun but she had this easy going way that just made it easy to talk to her. I stuffed my books into my bag and headed into her classroom. She shut the door behind her and got something from her desk. It was a white envelope and she held it up for me to see.

“Guess what this is.” She asked waving the envelope around.

“Errr...A letter?” I guessed.

“Well yes,” She said laughing, “But do you know what this letter could be?”

“Wait! It’s not...” I stopped when realization dawn over me, “It is! It is, isn’t it?” I was trying not to get my hopes up, but it was just too hard not to.

“It is! It’s from Brentwood academy!” Miss. Leah excitingly said as she handed the letter to me, “It feels like an approval letter!”

I took the letter and just stared at it for a minute. I couldn’t believe it, I finally have the letter from Brentwood academy that I’ve been waiting for. This academy was my dream school! It’s so hard to get in it, I had to write a 5,000 word essay on why I wanted to go there, write an entrance exam that’s harder than anything I’ve ever done and I had to get 95% or over in all my course and get Miss. Leah to write me a letter of recommendation just so they would consider letting me in their school. I got a letter a month ago from the dean asking for an interview with me and I was so nervous. I had to go through all the response to the question I thought he might ask me. After the interview I was mentally exhausted. But now I’m holding the letter that would determine my fate. I seriously wanted to go to Brentwood and get out of this place. Going there meant that I would be away from all the people here and my life would be so much better. I held the letter between my hands, afraid to open it now.

“Well, are you going to open it or what?” Miss. Leah asked, looking anxious.

“Umm, I’m scared.” I confessed.

“Don’t be ridiculous!” She waved her hand as if waving the thought away, “That school would be messed in the head if they don’t accept you.”

Laughing, I looked down at the envelope again. I had a death grip on the thing and my hands were slightly shaking.

“I don’t know if I can do this.” I mumbled.

“Rain, you don’t have to open it right now, you can wait until you get home.” She reassured me.

“No, I don’t think I can do this at all.”

“Do you want me to open it for you?”

“Yes, please. That would help me a lot.” I told her as I handed her the envelope.

“Cross your fingers, wait don’t. You don’t need to!” She laughed as she opened the envelope and pulled the letter out. Before she unfolded it she asked, “Are you sure you don’t want to read it?”

“I’m really sure I don’t.” I said terrified to hear what it had to say, “Just read it fast, so it’s over fast.”

I closed my eyes and heard her unfold the letter. I could just imagine her voice when she said I didn’t get in. Wait, what am I doing? I have to think positive, no negativity at all. That’s not good for my chi, or whatever they call it.

“Rain? Did you hear me?” I realized that Miss. Leah was talking to me.

“Sorry, I was just trying to stay positive.” I told her.

“ Well, keep staying positive because you got in!”

“What?! Oh my gosh! Really?” She handed the letter for me to see and I started screaming as soon as I saw the word accepted.

“Congratulations!” Miss. Leah gave me a hug and I started jumping up and down like a child.

“I can’t believe it!” I screamed, “This is too unreal!” I couldn’t stop smiling! This was it, this was officially the start of my new life!

Just then the bell rang. Luckily my homeroom was with Miss. Leah or I would have been late. A minute later everybody started to fill the room and the announcements started. I still couldn’t stop smiling! People who looked at me must have thought I was on something, but I don’t care what they think. I wouldn’t ever have to see them again! This day was starting to take a turn for the best.
