Fastfoward ➡️ Trip to Jeju Island
JENNIE
We boarded Lisa's private plane for our flight to Jeju today. I'm thankful for the nice weather because it allows us to travel more easily.
I am so happy because our squad has been completed. It includes myself, Lisa Jisoo unnie, Rosé, Wendy, Joy, Taehyung, Jungkook, Seulgi, and Irene.
I had to persuade Irene to come with us. She told me about what happened the last time she and Seulgi met. Seulgi hasn't changed. Irene is still angry at her, but I persuaded her that she can ignore her and have fun with the others. I'm glad that despite the fact that Lisa is surrounded by a lot of girls all the time, she isn't a womanizer like Seulgi.
Lisa and I have now been assigned seats next to each other, and she is concerned about my motion sickness.
"Nini, just let me know if you're not feeling well." She asked.
I nod and give her my gummy smile before noticing Jisoo unnie looking at us with a wicked smile. She will most likely remember what I asked her the other day.
'You shouldn't have asked that question in the first place, Jennie Ruby Jane Kim.'
Flashback:
I went to Jisoo unnie's office without her permission. I saw her assistant approaching me, but I ignored her and entered unnie's office without knocking. I noticed her drinking her coffee while looking at her laptop. She didn't notice me, so I called her.
"Hey UNNIE!"
She is taken aback and nearly throws up.
"OH MY CHICKEN! JENDEUKIE! You will be the death of me. What are you doing here? I thought you were on leave." She exclaimed.
"Calm down, unnie, I just got some documents in my office." I said and sat on the chair in front of her table.
"What brings you to my office? Oh wait! By the way, Jendeukie, how is Lisayah? My Gosh, why did you suddenly hang up last night? What did you do to her? Is she okay? She's still not responding to our messages." She suddenly rants at me.
This worried Chicken, sometimes I think she's more concerned with Lisa than with me. It's not that I'm jealous, I'm just glad she loves my precious friend as well.
"Relax, unnie, Lisa is fine as ever. Maybe she's still busy at her office, which is why she's not responding to your messages." I chuckled at her.
"I'm relieved. So, what's the tea? What happened to you two last night?" She asked and waggles her brows at me.
I took a deep breath and told her what Lisa and I had discussed the night before.
A few minutes later.
"So the two of you are okay now," Jisoo unnie said, looking at me intently.
"Yup, unnie. I know it's my fault, but I'm glad she understands me." I told her.
"Good for the two of you. You know we don't like to see the two of you like that," she expressed concern.
"Me too," I said and about to tell her about the trip, but she continues to talk.
"Jendeukie, was that all you talked about with Lisa last night, nothing else?" She asked, her eyes serious, as if telling me to tell her more.
"Yes, that's all, unnie," I said, "Why?"
"Oh nothing,...nothing Jendeuk," She says as she sips her coffee once more.
I then heard her mumble something about "that coward monkey," but I ignored it and told her about the trip. She's overjoyed about it. She assured me that she would inform Rosé right away. Then we talked for a while before I decided to leave.
I kissed her on the cheeks and walked to her door when I remembered what my mother had told me this morning. I'm curious what Unnie thinks about it. Maybe she can help me forget about the unnecessary things that were going on in my head between me and Lisa.
"Jisoo unnie, what do you think of me and Lisa?" I asked as I approached her again.
She looked surprised when I asked her a question, as if she thought I had already left.
"What are you saying, Jendeukie?" She inquires.
"Well, unnie, it's about Mom. I can't believe she thinks there's something going on between me and Lisa. You know it's impossible." I sarcastically laughed.
But she is looking at me with such seriousness. "What's wrong if something is going on between you and Lisa? Why is it impossible?" She asked with a blank expression on her face. What's the matter with her? I rarely see her like this. She only uses this expression when she is at work or when she is extremely irritated.
"Unnie, she's my best friend." I told her.
"And so? What's wrong with that?"
"It's just that it can't be unnie. I already have Mino. Me and Lisa will never happen, and I don't like people making meaning out of our friendship" I explained to her.
"But Auntie isn't just a 'people' Jendeukie. She's your mother. And we all know that mother knows best." She said then smirked at me.
Wrong move, Jennie, and Jisoo unnie doesn't answer my question.
"I don't want to talk about it anymore, unnie," I told her.
"Perhaps you're confused, and that's why you're affected by what Auntie thinks of the two of you," She said and smirked at me.
"I am not unnie. Let's end this conversation. Forget about it like it never happened. Goodbye." Even though I was annoyed with her for making things more difficult for me, I kissed her on the cheeks and left her office without waiting for her response.
'I promised myself I would never bring up that subject again.' I hope Unnie forgets about it as well.'
Present time.
I was finishing the memory when I felt a hand hold my right hand. Lisa holds my chin and makes me look at her. She gives me a concerned look.
"Are you really okay, Nini, your frowning?" she asked.
"Don't worry about me Lili, I'm fine," I say, returning my gaze to the window.
What a lovely view. 'I wish my mind was as peaceful as these clouds.'
Jeju Island
After we landed.
We're now waiting for the van that will take us to Lisa's vacation home. Lisa told me that she hadn't been to Jeju in a while and that the last time she saw the place was after the renovation. We are very happy and excited because this will be our first time here with our friends.
After a few minutes, her luxury van arrived. Lisa greeted our driver and we went inside with our belongings. I immediately took a seat next to the car window. Lisa is about to sit beside me when Irene unnie rushes inside and sits beside me. Lisa and I are both speechless about what happened. I mouthed to Lisa that everything was fine, so she is about to go to the back when Irene grabs her arm.
"Please Lisa, sit next to me." Irene begs.
"All right." Lisa said, returning to sit beside Irene.
When Seulgi entered the car, I noticed her glaring at Lisa before proceeding to sit in the back with the others. I'm glad Lisa simply ignored her.
When we are all inside, the car moves forward to our destination.
I'm curious about what's going on, so I ask Irene. "What's the matter?"
She hugs my side and looks at me with tears in her eyes. "I hate her, Jennie." She whispered that I almost didn't hear her.
"Who?" I asked and furrowed my brows.
"Who else. Of course, Seulgi. I can't take it anymore Jennie. She cornered me in the comfort room earlier and told me that she will do her best to win my heart this time. I don't want to believe her anymore. I'm so tired of it Jennie. Why can't she just leave me alone." Irene said in hushed tones so the others wouldn't hear what she was saying.
Lisa was looking in the front. She's not interfering with us, but I know she's listening in our conversation. After Irene unnie's revelation, Lisa's face frowns.
"Don't worry too much, unnie, let's just enjoy our weekend here and ignore her." I said calmly to her and patted her shoulder.
"But what if she does something wrong with me? I've turned her down numerous times, it's not that I'm afraid of her. I'm just worried," she expressed concern.
Then Lisa abruptly interrupts us. Her voice is soft, but we can hear her. "Don't worry, Irene, she's harmless. I know her, she'll never do that to you, but if she crosses the line without thinking, I will not hesitate to kick her ass." She said seriously, then pointed her finger at me. "And you know that kitten beside you, she can turn into a tiger when she's furious." She chuckled.
Irene and I both laughed at what she said. Then the three of us look at each other and start laughing again. We have no idea why we are laughing so loudly right now.
"HEY! Could you please turn down the volume of your happiness?" Tae asked.
"Can't you see we're sleeping here?" Wendy exclaimed.
"Yah, okay, okay, sorry not so sorry sleepyheads!" Lisa exclaimed, and we all stopped laughing.
"Thank you, Lisa," Irene unnie said then held Lisa's arm. I was surprised by her sudden gesture, but I didn't show it. I didn't expect to be more surprised when Lisa holds her hand and smiles at her.
Damn. After seeing that, I suddenly felt a pang on my chest. This feeling irritates me. It's all new to me, and I'm getting frustrated.
I don't like what I'm seeing, so I just look outside the car and wait until we arrive at our destination.
