It was Monday morning and it was time to go back to school. I got ready and put on black leggings and a white cropped hoodie. I threw my hair into a messy bun and pulled out small pieces of hair. I sprayed perfume on me and put on deodorant. I just curled my eyelashes and put on eyebrow gel. Nothing much cause I had practice after school. I walked downstairs with my volleyball bag and my school backpack and then quickly ate cereal. Every Monday I picked up Alvaro and drove him to school. There used to be a reason but I forgot and it just became a tradition. I walked into my garage, opened the garage door pulled my car out, shut the garage door and drove to Alvaro's. He was already waiting my his front door for me. I pulled up to his house and he got in the passenger seat.
"Morning." I said.
"What's up?" He said putting his seatbelt on.
"Not much. You ready for school this week?" I asked.
"Yeah!" He said excitedly.
"For real?" I asked driving.
"Yeah I actually like school. I get to chill with my friends do some work then go to soccer practice. It's not that bad." He told me.
"You are so positive for a Monday morning. Wow. I could never." I said laughing.
"Life's to short to be negative." Alvaro said.
"That deep. But you've got a point." I said.
"Luna tell me what happened in that store with Mattia." He said laughing.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Don't play dumb Luna. I know sum went down." Alvaro said.
I told him that Mattia and I made out he was surprised but also had that look on his face that said, 'I knew it'.
"Damnnnn, I knew it. How do you feel about him?" He said
"Ugh. I don't know Alvaro. I'm so confused. Like I keep saying, I don't wanna ruin the friendship" I said pulling into the school parking lot.
"You won't. You have known Mattia for so long. It will be okay everything will work itself out if it's meant to be" Alvaro said as we both got out of my car.
He always knew exactly what to say. I gave him a hug and we walked into school together. We met up with the boys by my locker before the bell rang. Mattia came up to me and gave me a hug. I hugged him back giving him a tight squeeze. He leaned against my locker and said,
"You look cute today"
I blushed and said,
"Stop I literally just threw this on"
"You make anything work" He said smiling then turning around facing the boys again.
Mattia Polibio you are so god damn confusing! The bell rang and I walked to my first period class. The rest of the school day went by surprisingly quick. The next thing I knew it was practice time.
I walked into the girls locker room and put my school bag in my locker and changed into my practice shirt and my nike pro spandex. Jade put her stuff down next to me and smiled at me. Jade was my girl best friend. We have been playing volleyball together forever. We both play on varsity for our high school and during the spring we play club volleyball together. She was so pretty and so kind. She had long, silky, straight black hair, the most perfect eyebrows and icy blue eyes. Her and Alejandro have been talking for about a month now!
"Hey!" I said to Jade.
"Hey how was your weekend?" She asked.
"It was good! But also bad but mostly good." I said laughing.
"How come?" She said putting her volleyball shoes on.
I explained to her what happened the party and the mall then making out with Mattia. She looked shocked.
"I'm so sorry Luna. Noah is a douche bag. Please don't let that get to you. You deserve better" She said reassuring me.
"Thank you Jade. I put him in his place. Don't worry." I said smirking.
"But let's talk about Mattia... Oooooo" Jade said raising her eyebrows and smiling.
"I'm so confused! We've been clingy to eachother. Like cuddling and stuff. I don't even know what to think of it!" I told her putting my knee pads and shoes on.
"Do you have feelings for him?" She asked.
"I'm not sure. I feel a spark... But i'm just concerned about our friendship! I don't want anything to change if we get into a relationship. I don't want to make it awkward for the rest of the boys. I'm just so confused" I said sighing.
"I understand. Feelings are complicated but you two are mature and will figure it out. I know you will and I'm always here to talk." She said smiling at me.
"Thank you, I love you" I said.
"Love you too girl" Jade said and we both walked out to the court.
We started running laps and I ran by Jade's side.
"How are you and Alejandro?" I asked her.
"Closer than ever, we fell asleep on facetime last night" She blushed.
"Awww! I'm so happy for you, he's such a sweet guy" I told her.
"He's coming to our game Friday" She told me.
"Really? Yay!" I said.
"You should tell Mattia to come so he's not lonley up in the bleachers. Also you play so well and look great in those spandex" Jade said laughing.
"Oh my gosh! Well thank you so do you girly. I will invite him" I laughed.
We started practice. Practice went for 2 hours. I took off my practice shirt, knee pads and shoes off and put my hoodie on and some slides. I hugged Jade and said goodbye to her. I was walking to the parking lot and walked past the soccer field. I saw the boys walking across the field. They had just finished practice too. I ran over to them.
"Hey!!!" I said to the boys.
"Luna!!!" They all said.
"How was your practice?" I asked them.
"Good! How was yours?" They all said.
"Fun!" I told them.
"How are you not freezing you are bearly wearing pants Luna?" Kairi asked laughing.
We all laughed and I said,
"These are spandex. I'm fine I have sweats in my bag" I said laughing.
"You're a goof" Alejandro said laughing. I pushed him playfully,
"Where's Mattia?" I asked looking around.
"He's in the locker room taking off his cleats." Alejandro told me.
I nodded.
"Mattia got recruited to play soccer for UCLA with a full scholarship. They are a D1 school!" Alejandro told me.
"Are you serious?!" I asked in excitement.
"We are all going out to eat to celebrate, come with us!" Alejandro said.
"Okay!!!" I said.
"We're gonna head to the car." Alejandro said.
"Okay I'll meet you there. I'm gonna wait for Mattia." I told them.
They walked away and I sat on the bleachers of the soccer field and waited for Mattia. He walked out wearing his hoodie with his number and his last name on it and his gray sweats. He didn't look as happy as I expected. I walked over to him and have him a huge hug.
"Alejandro told me the good news!!!" I said still hugging him and looking up at him.
"Oh yeah, that" He said.
I let go but kept my hands around his waist and looked up at him,
"Oh yeah? Mattia this is amazing, what's wrong?" I asked.
He motioned over to the bleachers and he walked over to them and took a seat, I followed sitting next to him.
"Mattia what's going on?" I asked him.
"I don't want our friendship... or whatever we are to end if I go all the way out to California" He told me.
I sighed and said,
"That's why you aren't happy about this? Because of me?" I said.
"I just don't want this to end. I love you so much. You are the most important thing in my life. You've been there for me since we were both just born. I don't want to lose that connection, Luna" He admites to me.
"Hey. We've been friends for 16 years. I think we can stay friends for 4 more years when we are both away at college. We also still have the rest of junior year and senior year! There is no rush. Our bond is so strong Mattia. Being far away from eachother will be hard but we can do it! We have grown and gone through everything together. College doesn't have to change that. Sure there will be pretty girls at UCLA but I will try not to get jealous. I trust you too. I don't really know what we are... But I do know that I love you Mattia and I will never stop even if you are thousands of miles away. Also we don't know where I am going to end up either! What if I went to UCLA too! This is such a great opportunity Mattia and you deserve it. I'm so proud of you" I said leaning in and kissing him.
He drowned me in a big hug and kissed the top of my head,
"You are right. We can make it through anything. Don't even start worrying about the 'pretty' girls at UCLA you are the most beautiful girl in the entire world. That's a fact. Thanks for making me feel better, Lulu" Mattia said kissing me back.
"Thank you" I blushed, "I love you. Let's go celebrate, the boys are waiting!" I said grabbing his hand and walking him to Alejandro's car. Mattia and I got in the back with Kairi. I sat in the middle of Mattia and Kairi.
"Yooo, It's our UCLA soccer player!" Alejandro said driving.
I smiled at Mattia and put my hand on his leg. I was so proud of him.
Alejandro pulled up to our favorite diner.
"Yesss" I said excited.
"Damn we haven't been here in a fat minute" Kairi said.
"True" Alejandro said.
We all walked into the diner and sat down at a big table. The service here was quick so we already ordered our drinks. We all were just hanging out, having a good team and eating food. We all gasped.
"Roshaun!" We all said getting up.
Roshaun had moved to Florida at the end of 8th grade. We all still texted him and stuff but it obviously wasn't the same.
"What are you doing back in Jersey?" Kairi asked him.
"We just moved back!" Roshaun told us.
"What?!" We all said in excitement.
He hugged all of us.
"It's so nice to see you!" I said hugging him.
"You too, Luna! You look great" He said.
"Thank you, you too. So are you coming back to school with us?" I asked sitting back down.
"Yup!" He said pulling up a chair.
"Wow I'm so happy you're back." Mattia said.
"Me too. I really missed you all" Roshaun told us.
"So did we" We all said.
"So catch me up on everything" Roshaun said.
"Well these two are super close" Alvaro said pointing to Mattia and I.
"Damn how long have you been together?" Roshaun asked.
"Well we aren't together actually" I said.
"Oh" Roshaun said.
"Yeah..." Mattia and I said.
After that little awkward moment we ended up finishing our food. We payed for dinner then said goodbye to Roshaun and said we would see him tomorrow. Roshaun walked to his car and we all walked to Alejandro's.
"Do you guys wanna come chill at my house?" Alejandro asked.
"Yeah!" All the guys said.
"Um actually could you drop me off at my house Ale?" I asked.
"Aww party pooper. But yeah of course I can Luna." He said.
Alejandro pulled up to my house. I hugged all the guys. They were awkward hugs because they were all sitting down in the car. I hugged Mattia. He put his arms around my waist and gave me a tight squeeze.
"Thank you so much for the ride Ale. I love you all. Sorry for being a party pooper. I gotta do some homework" I said waving goodbye.
"Love you!" All the boys shouted.
I unlocked my front door and walked inside. I locked the door behind me and saw my mom watching tv in the living room. I greeted her with a hug then went up to my room. I shut the door behind me and put my bags down. I went into my bathroom and turned on the shower. I took off my clothes and hopped into the shower. I washed my hair and did all that stuff then got out. I brushed my teeth and hair, moisturized my face and body then put on shorts and a sports bra. I went and sat on my bed and started doing homework. I noticed Mattia's hoodie was on the edge of my bed. It was his grey thrasher one. I put it on. It smelt like him. Oh I was so confused at this point. What were Mattia and I? Friends who kiss? Is that a thing? I eventually finished my homework and threw my bag off of my bed and turned on my tv. I turned off the lights in my room and hopped back into my bed. I leaned back and sighed. How did I feel about Mattia? He couldn't stop crossing my mind. Interrupting my thoughts, I heard something hit my window... I jumped. I was startled. I was confused because the only person who used to do that was...
