TRIGGER WARNINGS : suicide, talks about abuse/slapping
Logan POV
"Patton wait," I begged, trying my best to catch up to him. I'm too out of shape for this.
But Patton ignores me and continued to walk quickly towards the main doors. All day Patton's been avoiding me. Not talking to me during lunch or classes.
"Why aren't you talking to me?" I asked angrily, finally catching up to him. We were in one of the side courtyards now.
"You're lying to me and yourself," He mumbled before trying to move away again.
I grabbed Patton by the shoulders and made him face me. Emotions unknown to me flickered in his eyes, severely confusing me.
"What did I do?" I asked.
"Logan you were clearly upset when you showed up at my house on Monday. You lads and said that you were fine when you obviously weren't," Patton said. "It's Friday and you still haven't gone back to your house. Why won't you tell me what happened? If we love each other, we shouldn't be keeping such obviously important secrets from each other."
"It's not important," I tried to tell him. I tired not to think about my parents hitting me."
"I don't like relationships were we keep secrets from each other," He mumbled, obviously upset.
"Patton, I'm more worried about you than myself," I told him. "My issues aren't important when your dealing with your own problems with your parents."
"Don't hide your feelings just because you don't want to upset me," He begged. "Hiding things upset me more."
"It's not important," I whispered.
"Your feelings are valid Logan," Patton told me. "Please don't do this to yourself."
"I'm not doing anything," I said.
"Then why are you lying?!" Patton yelled. He was working himself up. "To me and yourself?! Why are you refusing to go back to your house?!"
"Why am I not allowed to keep secrets?" I asked lowly.
"Because this is something that is clearly upsetting you," Patton said. "It's important and it's effecting our relationship."
"You're letting this effect out relationship," I told him.
Patton's face twisted into one of anger. But worry and sadness still flickered in his eyes. So many contradicting emotions.
"Why won't you let me help you?" Patton asked lowly. "You can't hide your feelings like this. I care a lot about you and I can tell that your upset and hurt. I want to help you."
"I don't need help," I argued.
"Why can't I help you?" He questioned. "You're not okay."
"I don't care about myself," I mumbled. "I don't want you to hurt just because I'm hurting."
"You're admitting that you're hurting," Patton accused. "And you're hurting me by keeping secrets."
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"You have to learn to trust me," He told me.
"I'm not bothering you with my nonsense problems," I argued.
"Logan," Patton whispered angrily. "Please just tell me what happened."
I didn't say anything. I wanted to tell Patton. So that he'd forgive me and help me. But I don't want to bother him.
"Please," He begged.
"It's not important," I mumbled, now trying to hold back tears. "I'm so sorry."
Patton softened and pulled me into a hug. I held him tightly and buried my face in his hair. We pulled apart and Patton pulled me towards the parking lot.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"School isn't the place to talk about whatever is upsetting you so much," He mumbled.
We got into my car and I started driving. I didn't know where to go but we ended up at Patton's. His parents car thankfully wasn't there.
Silently, we got out of the car and headed up to the door. Patton unlocked the door and the house was blessedly silent. His parents weren't home.
Buttercup greeted us instantly. She hopped up and tried to get into Patton's arms. I smiled a bit at them and I felt so much love for Patton fill me.
Patton then led the way towards the living room. He sat down on the couch, letting Buttercup scramble into his lap.
I sat awkwardly on an arm chair next to the couch. We were silent. I could tell Patton was still angry with me.
"Tell me what happened," He told me sternly.
"It's not important nor is it something you would want to hear," I replied.
"I don't want you doing this to yourself," Patton said. "You're just hurting yourself by trying to push these feelings away."
"Are you sure you want to know?" I asked.
"You haven't been to your house in days," He accused. "I know you've been staying with Virgil And Quinn."
"On Monday, my parents were upset with me for missing curfew," I started with a sigh. "We argued and then it got to the point where they started slapping me. I was slapped three times on the cheek."
Patton looked shocked. Then his eyes filled with tears and he looked utterly distraught. He bolted up and ran over to me.
Before I knew it, I was pulled into a tight hug by Patton. He sat himself in my lap and wrapped his arms tightly around my shoulders.
"I'm so sorry," He sobbed. "I shouldn't have gotten made at you. You had every right to not want to talk about something like that."
"It's okay Patton," I tried to tell him.
"I shouldn't have gotten so mad," He whispered, crying into my shoulder. It took a lot of self control to not point out that 'gotten' isn't a word.
"It's okay," I repeated. "As my boyfriend, you had the right to know something that important."
"I'm so sorry they did that to you," Patton told me. I could tell that he was thinking about when his dad hit him. "It's wrong. It wasn't okay for them to do that."
"Don't worry yourself about me," I told him.
"Are you ever going to go back to your house?" He asked.
"I'm not sure. I have to but I might wait it out a bit before going back," I explained. "To let them cool down, as some say."
"I don't want them hitting you," Patton mumbled, kissing both cheeks.
"I'll be okay," I promised.
Patton was about to say something but that's when his phone started ringing. It was Roman. He answered the phone and put it on speaker.
"Hey Ro," Patton said cheerily. He was scary good at acting happy and fine when he was upset.
"Are you with Logan?" Roman asked. His voice was incredibly worried and it sounded like he was crying.
"Yes, I am here," I said.
"Do any of you have any clue where Remus is?" He asked, his voice hitching.
Patton and I shared a confused and worried look. Neither of us have seen Remus or knew where he was.
"Neither of know where he is," Patton told him. It sounded like Roman started crying. "Is something wrong?"
"Remus left a suicide note," Roman chocked out. "He's trying to kill himself because he thinks he ruined Damien, Evan, and Quinn's relationship and he's the reason Quinn hurt himself."
