"make a wish"
~[|]~

Gerard had been initially worried that Frank's friends wouldn't like him, but after a good twenty minutes of talking to some of them, he realised that they were just like his Frankie. They were kind and inviting and had the sense of humour only a thirteen year old boy could have.

But that was twenty minutes ago, and now Gerard and Frank were just a tad bit knocked up, holding each other close as they danced to the Halloween themed dance music. The speakers were shaking in time with the mechanical bass, and it made Gerard's heart thump slowly in relaxation.

Gerard giggled slightly when Frank twirled him like the gentlemen he was dressed as, then moving to hold him tightly by the waist.

Gerard squeaked at the action but relaxed soon enough, burying his head in Frank's shoulder.

He could feel Frank smiling against his hair, and Frank's hands rubbed softly on Gerard's lower back, making him smile even more.

Frank was always such a gentlemen, and Gerard really didn't deserve it.

"You're so pretty." Frank whispered against his messy hair, the vibrations tickling Gerard's head.

Gerard turned his head to look at Frank, and was surprised to see him staring hard at something behind him. Gerard didn't move to look at it though, he just placed a soft kiss to Frank's jaw, watching Frank's eyes quickly blink down to meet his.

Frank smiled softly at Gerard kissing him back just as careful as Gerard had pecked his skin.

Gerard's eyes fluttered shut instinctively and he enjoyed the warmth coming from Frank. He didn't know whether it was the alcohol or not, but everything seemed slower, the music, the dancing, the way Frank moved with him. It was so nice, and Gerard wanted it to last forever.

But of course, something came between that, and Gerard wanted to punch his head through a wall the moment he realised why.

Frank's arms seemed to secure themselves tighter around Gerard's lower back, and that caused Gerard to press himself closer to Frank. He wouldn't have minded that at all if it weren't for the fact that he could hear Frank making this sort of growling noise over the music. It was low and angry and protective, and it made Gerard even a little bit frightened.

Gerard craned his neck to face the direction Frank was glaring so harshly at, and he nearly squeaked when he saw someone squinting their eyes challengingly, definitely having a silent conversation with Frank.

Gerard didn't know what it was about, but something about the way Frank was holding him tighter and holding his head closer made Gerard think it was almost definitely about him.

Obviously that made him want to vomit, because he was Frank's goddamnit, and if strangers didn't start realising that he would just have to write it on his forehead.

So, Gerard did the next best thing.

He checked one last time to make sure the stranger dressed up as a rugby player (a costume with a similar structure to his own) was watching, as he brought his head up to be in line with Frank's and kissed his hard, so hard it actually shocked Frank. Frank stumbled backwards for a second before kissing back just as passionately, Gerard even licked Frank's bottom lip, biting it soon after just for extra measure.

When Gerard was done with his little soft porn act, he turned to see the "rugby player" gone, and he grinned putting his head back on Frank's shoulder. Mission accomplished, Gerard thought.

Frank's face was blushing, and Gerard could feel the heat radiating off of it.

"Why'd you do that?" He asked quietly, a flustered tone taking on his voice.

"Oh I need an excuse to make out with my boyfriend now?" Gerard asked with a raised eyebrow as he pulled back just enough to look
him in the eye.

Frank laughed, "Never."

Gerard smiled going to tuck his head back but stopping when Frank pulled at his hair carefully.

He had to keep himself from whimpering as Frank brought his lips to his ear, "I really like it when you call me boyfriend."

"Well, I like doing it." Gerard said with a grin, kissing Frank again chastely.

Frank grinned at that.

"Oh my God." Frank said out loud as Gerard led him into the empty diner- which was actually decorated in halloween decorations and artificial candles that shone dimly, illuminating the space romantically.

"Gee.." Frank said and he seemed to be at a loss for words as he looked around, and Gerard smiled at his reaction.

"I hope you don't mind but I have a surprise before I give you your presents." Gerard mumbled shyly, looking down at their intertwined hands as he led Frank to his usual stool.

"Oh, Gee, you didn't have to do all of this." Frank said softly, "We could have literally just gone out for ice cream."

"Shut it, Frankie. You deserve a nice night." Gerard said sternly as he kissed Frank's cheek gently, his lips lingering a few seconds before he pulled away.

In the dim light Gerard was almost unable to see the way Frank's eyes watered up at his words, but he did notice, and he placed his hands on Frank's cheeks as he lent down to a seated Frank and kissed him softly.

Frank kissed back weakly and pulled back to wipe at his eyes quickly, looking back up to allow Gerard to do his thing.

Gerard grinned and rushed over to the boombox in the corner, placing the quarter he had kept in his pocket all night during the party. He placed the coin in carefully and selected the song he wanted to sing for his Frankie, which was of course Fly Me To The Moon.

It was a slower version actually, and Gerard took a deep breath as the soft drums began to play.

Since this version was actually slower and more sensual, most of the guitar was replaced by piano and bass.

Gerard smiled to himself as he turned around slowly, watching as the realisation fell upon Frank, and he stared intently at Gerard with a look he couldn't quite place.

"Fly me to the moon.." Gerard started, his voice echoing quietly around the diner as the music enveloped him. "let me play among the stars."

He slowly walked towards Frank as he sang, and he kept his smile on as he sang softly.

"fill my heart with song.. and let me sing forevermore." Gerard sang and turned pink at the words leaving his mouth.

"You are all I long for.. all I worship and adore."

Gerard gently sat down on Frank's lap, making sure to keep their eye-contact as he spoke, because he knew all the words flowing out of his mouth were only for Frank. His Frank.

As the music continued to flow around him, he couldn't help but feel that warm feeling in his stomach again, the one that only comes when Frank's there with him.

It wasn't long before Gerard was ending the song with a soft, "In other words, I love you."

The music faded out, and Gerard watched Frank intently. There were a few stray tears across Frank's cheeks, and his hands were shaking as Gerard looked at him.

He felt insecure, because he hadn't really sung for anyone in years, and he really didn't want Frank to hate it. He frowned when Frank didn't say anything, and he was going to ask him why he was crying, but he didn't have the chance to because his entire body shut off at Frank's response.

"I love you." Frank said quietly, his eyes glued to Gerard's.

Gerard's breath lodged itself in his throat, and he looked at every little crevice and freckle on Frank's face, every feature and blemish. And he swallowed the ball of nerves in his throat before speaking.

"I love you too." Gerard whispered, and was quite unprepared for the tender embrace Frank enveloped him in, pressing his face in the crook of his neck.

"God, you're so perfect." Frank said and Gerard could feel the way his body trembled with sincerity as he spoke.

Gerard could feel his eyes water in emotion as he hugged Frank back tightly, not really knowing what worlds to say or how to really react, he just wanted to be close to Frank. As close as humanly possible.

They didn't move for a long time, and Gerard almost dozed off in Frank's arms as he simply smelled and felt him.

Though he soon realised how weird this would look to anyone passing by, and the thought made him laugh quietly.

Seeing a football player with bright red hair sat on a tattoo'd snowman's lap, really did have the right characteristics for a sappy rom-com with absolutely no decent plot, the kind he and Frank always poked fun at.

"What's so funny?" Frank asked, letting out a small chuckle himself.

Gerard laughed again and pulled back enough to look at Frank, "Nothing, just think the birthday boy should let me go so I can get his presents." Gerard said with a smile.

"I don't think he wants to." Frank said defiantly, and Gerard raised an eyebrow.

"Oh is that so?" He asked with another immature giggle.

"Yeah, it is." Frank said with a childish grin.

Gerard scoffed around his own smile, wiggling out of Frank's strong arms. Sticking out his tongue when he finally managed to escape.

"There." He sighed out, turning around to get the bag he left by the diner's doors.

He gasped when he felt Frank's arms wrap around him from behind, his breath warm against the back of his neck.

"I didn't say you could move." Frank pouted like a small child, and Gerard rolled his eyes as he turned back around.

"Just take a fucking seat, birthday boy." Gerard ordered, pushing Frank back so he was sitting back on his stool.

"Pushy." Frank muttered, and giggled when Gerard glared at him playfully.

Gerard fished out the first gift, which he decided would be the bracelet. He handed it over in the small lace bag he had bought to put it in.

Frank looked at him and the item curiously, "What is it?"

"You're gonna have to open it." Gerard said, reclaiming his seat back in Frank's lap.

Frank didn't seem to mind as he carefully opened the jewellery bag, smiling to himself as he picked out the childish block-bead bracelet.

It had the words, "frankie" in baby blue letters, the rest being filled by baby pink beads.

"I know it's childish, but I want to be with you in some way when I can't actually be there in person." Gerard mumbled as he studied Frank's reaction.

It was similar to the one he had to Gerard singing, he didn't say much, he just sort of stared at Gerard with a soft gaze.

"That's..." Frank looked down at the bracelet before looking back up again with a glint in his eyes, "No one's ever done anything like this for me."

"What'd you mean?" Gerard asked as he frowned softly.

"I've never been with someone who's cared about me this much before." Frank muttered, "It was always just a quick fuck and then we'd never speak again."

Gerard frowned harder and kissed Frank's lips chastely, "Frankie, you're the most amazing person I know. You deserve the whole world."

Frank chuckled softly as he looked back down at his lap.

"I love you so much." Frank said with a sniffle.

"I love you so much too." Gerard smiled, lifting Frank's head up to kiss him again.

"Now open the rest of your gifts." Gerard tutted with fake annoyance, his smile still obvious.

Frank laughed and shook his head, accepting the rectangular paper which he discovered to be the Knicks tickets.

He gasped when he saw them, and looked up at Gerard with giddy eyes.

"Oh my God, I've been saving up to see the Knicks for weeks!" Frank exclaimed, his excitement filling the dimly lit atmosphere greedily.

Gerard nodded, and squealed in surprise when Frank lifted him up and twirled him around. He laughed at Frank's mood, keeping his arms tight around his neck as he looked down at him.

Frank smiled so hard it looked borderline painful, and he littered Gerard's face in sloppy kisses.

"You- You have one last present, Frankie. Put me down." Gerard whined, but Frank didn't budge.

"Gerard," Frank said with a sigh, "this is way too much."

"Bullshit, now don't make me overpower you with my massive muscles." Gerard giggled, his cheeks turning a rosy colour as Frank kissed his cheek before setting him down.

"I'm going to spoil you rotten after this, I hope you know that." Frank muttered as he accepted the last gift from Gerard.

His eyes skimmed over it and he looked up at Gerard again, kissing him without a second thought.

"You-... I don't deserve you." Frank said again.

"It's actually the other way around." Gerard giggled, and he saw the look Frank sent him at that.

"I really hope you're joking." Frank said seriously.

Gerard shrugged and shook his head before playing with Frank's derby hat that he had left on the table.

He was about to get comfortable in Frank's arms again when he gasped, remembering the cake he and put in the diner's fridge.

"What's wrong?" Frank asked softly, confused.

"Wait here." Gerard rushed out as he ran off to kitchen practically ripping open the fridge door and pulling out the red velvet cake he had decorated in white frosting, the words "Happy Birthday, Dumbass" sprawled across in fancy writing.

He quickly stuffed a pretty candle in the centre, careful to not ruin the words, and flicked the match he had found in the back room, eliciting a spark. Once the candle was set alight he grabbed the white plate with the cake, walking through the kitchen doors.

He started singing the Happy Birthday melody, smiling at Frank who watched him in awe.

".. to you." Gerard finished, setting the plate in front of Frank.

"Make a wish, Frankie." He said quietly, his cheeks warm.

Frank hesitated before speaking.

"I wish that you'll be mine forever." Frank mumbled his face turning rosier than Gerard's.

"Well, that's a bad wish." Gerard said quietly, making Frank's face scrunch up in hurt.

"Why?" His voice cracked.

"Because I'm already yours forever."

And then Frank kissed him.
