FEATURED POEM
Winter Morning Poem
By Ogden Nash
Winter is the king of showmen,
Turning tree stumps into snow men
And houses into birthday cakes
And spreading sugar over lakes.
Smooth and clean and frosty white,
The world looks good enough to bite.
That's the season to be young,
Catching snowflakes on your tongue!
Snow is snowy when it's snowing.
I'm sorry it's slushy when it's going.

Lyttlejoe's Busted Gulch Volume 12:
Bella was finally well enough to leave the Doc's place; grateful he had been able to save her life. However, he told her not to go back to work just yet, she still needed to rest and recover. We learned about a legend concerning a snarky shoe, that always returns to its owner and collects curse words. Some more strangers showed up in town, three to be exact and they were looking for the Mayor. It seems they have a business deal that can't wait. Rue, feeling Jujube's pain from his broken let and being exhausted from healing Jacob, ended up fainting. Luckily, Billy was there to intervene; he gathered her up on horse back and along with Jacob took her away from the situation. 3Gun made it back from county. He checked in with everyone and brought CG the gifts he had bought her. Everything in town seemed to be in order, however he could not shake an uneasy feeling that something bad was coming. Brandy let Brody know that Shamus was dead, he took it pretty hard. The Doc stopped by to see Myna and the babies; all is well. However, Myna seems to be restless and is feeling guilty for wanting to get back into the action.
If you want to find out what's next, head on over to The Storytellers Saloon and check out Lyttlejoe's Busted Gulch Volume 12!! Don't forget to add it to your reading list, new chapters are posted daily!
This month we've put together even more index cards as our prompts. They tell a very generic fantasy style story for you to elaborate on. We named the characters so get creative. The four cards tell an almost complete story but feel free to use them as you wish (i.e. A whole story (of four parts), four individual stories or even a single week's entry) it's up to you.
The word count throughout the month is 500 words, double the last index card challenge.

WORLD POETS
Denmark
from Letter in April: IV
By Inger Christensen
Already on the street
with our money clutched
in our hands,
and the world is a white laundry,
where we are boiled and wrung
and dried and ironed,
and smoothed down
and forsaken
we sweep
back
in children's dreams
of chains and jail
and the heartfelt sigh
of liberation
and in the spark trails
of feelings
the fire eater
the cigarette swallower
come
to light
and we pay
and distance ourselves
with laughter.
