As we were driving out of Forks Washington I noticed immeadiately as we turned off the road onto the hidden path that led to my grandparents house. I wondered what we were doing. My father told me just seconds after my curiosity hit me that we were informing them on our newest member.
Since grandma Esme and grandpa Carlisle were the momma and daddy of the entire coven they were told of everything. Normally though decisions to bring in new members were cleared through the entire family as a whole but this one wasn't.
When we stopped outside their house they were waiting for us.
My mother turned around to look at me. "You and your sister stay in the car." She said to us before she glanced once at Jacob and then opened the door to get out.
I watched as father did the same. My parents entwined their hands and then walked over to grandma and grandpa before they fell into a conversation.
Turning my head I looked at Jacob who was watching me and smiled. It had been a long time since I've really gotten to spend any time with him and I missed that. I nuzzled my head against his warm chest, tilting my head up just enough to make eye contact with him. I grinned and then bit him.
He jumped slightly before chuckling. "Really Ness, the biting thing?" He smiled before wrapping his arms around me in a gentle, toasty, hug.
I nodded my head and then placed my hand to his cheek.
Old habits die hard," I thought to him as I showed him the memories of the numerous times I bit him as I was growing up.
Jacob laughed before he tapped my nose. "Yes they do indeed, which is why I challenge you to a hunt when we get back home." He smirked. I narrowed my eyes immeadiately before I stuck out my tongue at him. "Whats wrong Ness, afraid I'm going to win?" He proceeded to ask me.
I quickly shook my head. Of course I wasn't afraid of losing I just liked to have fun and spend time with Jake. I did like to win though and hated turning down challenges thanks to a competitive sense of nature. It was just that I wanted human blood, atleast some o-negative.
It took me a while to catch on as I was growing up but apparently Jake and my parents arranged the hunting challenge as a way to get me to sway towards the 'vegetarian' diet that my family lived on. I would never hurt a human to get blood but I hated the taste of the animals.
I reached my hand back up to his cheek and rested it there.
"I want O-negative." I thought to him as I showed him the bags of blood that grandpa Carlisle used to bring to me here and there as I was just weeks old.
Jacob took my hand and placed it on my lap. "I'm not too sure thats a good idea Ness. You know your parents would prefer you to drink animal blood."
Turning my facial expression into a pout I crossed my arms and huffed before I looked down at my feet. Every few seconds I would peer at Jacob from my periphial vision to see if his expression had any change to show him favoring in my direction but it didn't. He was firm on his words which I didn't like.
"Oh come on Ness don't be angry." Jacob said to me before he wrapped his arm around me and pulled me into a hug.
I squirmed, batting his arms away and then resumed my pout.
The door opened and from my periphial vision I could see my father standing there. He reached his arm over Jacob and placed one single finger on my chin before he turned my head in his direction. I avoided his gaze purposely.
"Renesmee Carlie Cullen look at me." He said in a gentle voice.
I flicked my doey brown eyed gaze upwards to meet my fathers golden eyes. "Yes daddy." I said in a tiny voice.
I already knew that I had done something wrong the moment he used my full name.
"You do not behave like that. I know you want human blood but you don't go asking Jacob for it. If you want something you ask your mother or myself okay?" He said in his gentle voice.
I nodded my head. "Yes daddy." I said before I felt my lip begin to quiver from the tears that wanted to fall from my eyes.
I rarely ever did something to get in trouble so when I did I felt terrible.
"Ness its okay." Jacob said to me.
Then the flood gates opened and the squeaking sobs began. "I'm sorry daddy I didn't mean to upset you. I promise I won't do it again!" I wailed as I pulled him into my arms and held him in a close hug.
I felt my seat belt being removed. Then my father was lifting me from the truck. He wrapped his arms around me before he began swaying in a gentle bounce-like rock. When I opened my eyes to look at him his face was blurred from the tears.
Setting me to my feet my father nelt before me and ran his thumb along the underrims of my eyes to wipe them away. Once my vision was clear again he took my hands into his.
"You didn't upset me Renesmee, I just would prefer it if you came to me or your mother when you wanted something, especially blood. Do you understand why?" he asked.
I pursed my lips, bringing them to the side before I looked up at my father. "Because if I have too much blood I could hurt humans." I said in my high picture suprano vocals.
My father nodded his head. "Even if you don't mean to. Do you remember the story I told you about uncle Jasper and your mommy?"
I replayed the memory of the story over in my mind so my father could read it. When it ended he brought me into his arms and held me closely.
"Daddy doesn't want you living with that kind of regret on your mind, thats all." He said to me before pressing a kiss to my forehead.
I brought my arms up and hugged him. When I released my father handed me a hankerchief from his pocket which I blew my nose on.
Messy tears and runny noses, not exactly my favorite human experience. Once my nose was clean it seemed that the conversation between my mother and grandparents were over.
My mother came over to the truck, stopping short to run her hand through my hair before placing a kiss on my forehead before she looked in on Jennifer who was sitting quietly.
"Jennifer hun, you will be riding back with Carlisle and Esme, your new grandma and grandpa." My mother said to her.
I looked at my father curiously and he explained that Carlisle and Esme just wanted to go over the family rules, the vampire laws and talk with her to make sure she fully understands her vampire situation.
Without saying a word Jennifer got out of the truck and followed them to Carlisle's sedan. Once we were all back in the truck we set off back to our home in Denali.
On the way up to the Canadian border I began wondering what had happened there since I left. Were there any new vampires, were the rest of our friends from the last stand back?
As we made it past the border that seperated Canada from the lower 48 Jacob fell asleep. His snores, though loud and obnoxious, lulled me into a slumber as well.
I was running through the forest, laughter emmiting from my mouth in a beautiful song. Rays of sunlight peered gently through the branches causing my skin to give of a illuminating glow as the light hit me. Every time I would glance down in awe as it was one of the most beautiful sights to witness. As I broke through into a clearing I stopped and looked around.
Hanging before me, cascading down from one of the highest tree branches was a swing. The ropes that held it were braided in an elegant golden rope. Entwined through the braids on both sides was a long vine. The seat of the swing was shaped in a beautiful circle design. The same design that was marked on Jacobs arm. The way it was etched led me to know it was hand made.
Off to the left was a hammock hanging between two trees and just to the right of that, a few feet, up in the tree looked to be a tree house.
I smiled. It was beautiful.
Quickened footsteps behind me stole my attention but before I could turn around a pair of arms were around my waist.
I laughed as the warmth of Jacobs embrace enveloped me. It was my favorite temperature.
In the next second I turned around to face him. Looking into his eyes I smiled, bringing my hand up to meet his cheek.
I showed him what he saw.
A beautiful woman with waist length wavy bronze brown hair. The womans eyes were elegantly formed, their color being the most beautiful brown. The nose was dainty and cute, forming the innocence that radiated from her face. Then there was the smile, her full lips a natural pink that gaurded the heart stopping smile that hid behind them.
Jacob leaned away and shook his head. "That's what you see that I see but its more then that." He whispered before bringing me into a hug. "Its alot more then that."
When I spoke it was like a song as my words ran together in an angelic voice. "Jacob." I said to him.
Jacob leaned away just enough to look into my face. "Yes Renesmee?" he replied.
Leaning towards him I pressed my lips against his.
When I opened my eyes I took a few seconds to go over the dream I just had. I was apparently older and mature and I was with Jacob. But I had kissed him. Not like he or my family did to me now but like my mother kissed my father.
A few seconds later I shrugged off the thought for another time. Before I had fallen asleep I was in the truck with Jake and my parents and we were on our way back to Denali.
I sat up and looked around. It was dark but from the scent I knew I was home and in my cousin Penelope's bedroom.
Remember that last time I had waken up in her bedroom I closed my eyes to listen to my surroundings. All was quiet on this level but downstairs there was movement and chatter.
Opening the bedroom door I took one step before I froze.
"V for Vendetta" My father had said
I let my mind go into over drive to try and understand what he was talking about. V for Vendetta. The only thing I could understand from those words was that my father was talking about a movie we had once watched.
Feeling the temperature around me rise slightly I quickly pushed the thoughts from my mind. I smiled as I turned around. Standing behind me with his hair sticking up on its ends was Jacob.
"Hey sleepy head." He yawned. "Why are you awake so early?" he asked.
Without hesitating I jumped up into his arms before wrapping my limbs tightly around him. In the next moment I rose my hand to his cheek and began replaying the dream I had.
When I finished I looked at him to assess his expression which was unreadable. I narrowed my eyes and pressed my hand to his face again.
"What's wrong?" I thought to him. "It was a happy dream."
Jacob took a deep breath before he set me to my feet and took my hand leading me downstairs. When we entered the living room my parents looked up at us. Jacob knelt beside me and told me to go and sit with my parents.
Nodding my head I walked across the room and climbed up into my fathers lap. I leaned against his chest and began looking around the room at the people that sat before us. There were definitely a lot more faces then last time. Some faces I easily recognized, others were new.
Only when I had nothing else on my mind did curiosity strike me. I looked up at my father as I composed a serious look on my face. I wanted answers and I would soon get them.
"Daddy, what is V for Vendetta?" I asked him.
He looked at my mother and I saw them exchange a slight head shake before he looked back at me. I knew they were wanting to hold back some information from me and I didn't like it.
I held up my hand and touched it to my fathers cheek before I willed the information from his mind.
They were dressed in black cloaks, hoods drawn upon their heads. The eerie misty disguised them from the sun that would give them sparkle and all around them was trees. Then I saw it, the familar papery skin that created the hand that reached out for something. I knew who they were before they pushed back their hoods. The Volturi. Then I saw a date on a calender. That date was July. That was barely 5 months away.
I gasped before I quickly pulled away my hand.
The Volturi was coming for me and my family sooner then we had expected. Looking around the room I wondered, did we have enough time to prepare ourselves or were we already gonners? Did we have enough people to help defend us all?
"Daddy?" I squeeked. "Please don't let them take me." I whispered, my eyes large. I was too afraid to cry right now. I felt frozen and numb of all emotions.
Both my parents embraced me quickly and started talking about how they would never let anything happen to me. Only when my body had become unnumb did I begin to cry. I wasn't scared anymore but they tears had been waiting since I first caught the vision from my fathers mind.
"I don't want to die." I added before I closed my eyes.
In a matter of minutes I had fallen asleep again. For me, this was normal especially since everything about me was intensified, including emotions. Whenever I had an overwhelming day the emotions drained me to the point I was physically and mentally exhausted.
That night I dreamt of a peaceful life with my family. The Volturi was no where to be found. No worries. Everything was perfect in the Midnight Sun.
