"Call Lestrade, now!" You commanded John as you haled for a taxi. The both of you quickly jumped in, and you didn't hesitate to yell at the cabbie to drive. John held his phone to his ear, a very frantic look etched onto his face. If Lestrade had just listened to you!

"No, Detective Inspector Lestrade. I need to speak to him, it's important, it's an emergency!" John yelled into the phone. You looked down at the tablet, then yelled to the driver.

"Left here, turn left!" After many more directions and turns, the taxi pulled into the car park of some university buildings. You hurried out of the taxi rushing to take a look at the buildings. There were two possible buildings Sherlock and the killer could've entered. You shoved the tablet into your coat pocket, as you looked at them briefly. You needed to hurry and figure out which one it was.

"Hurry, Y/N!" John grabbed your sleeve, choosing the building on the right.

"Wait, John! I need to analyse the-"

"There's no time!" John yelled, pulling you into the building. The two of you raced down hallways looking frantically for Sherlock. You hoped John had picked the right building. Even if you didn't have emotions, you at least had the decency to know this was a dire situation. Plus, you knew Sherlock would probably be fine... but on the other hand he was too curious. If he was offered the pill, he would take it. He was like you, he would do anything to know if he was right.

"Sherlock!" You both yelled, kicking in doors and looking in every possible location he could be. John ran into a room and was suddenly yelling your name, you raced in.

You saw Sherlock standing with his back to you, in a completely different building, a pill in between his fingers, another man standing close in front of him. The murderer. The taxi driver.

"Sherlock!" John yelled on the top of his lungs, as if Sherlock would hear him and put the pill down. So this was how the killer did it, he tempted the others with the pill, a game possibly? A 50-50 chance.

John reached for his gun, but he felt it was missing. Then he looked back up at you to see it held tightly in your hands, pointing it at the man beyond the glass. You swiped it from him midway through the search for Sherlock, without him noticing.

You watched as Sherlock held the pill in between his fingers, holding it up to the light. He was going to take it. You knew he was. Part of you wanted to pull the trigger and end it there, but another part of you was overly curious. You wanted to see if Sherlock had chosen right, if he had picked the right pill. You had to know. Sherlock started raising the pill to his mouth. John stared at you in horror as he watched Sherlock.

"Y/n! Shoot! NOW." You were frozen with curiosity, you trusted Sherlock's skills. Suddenly, John was prying the gun from your hands and pushing you aside and he pried open the window. A loud shot rang through the air, then John was quickly pulling you away and you were running again, away from the window. Away from the now, crime scene.  John had killed the cabbie.

***

The police were just arriving at the scene when you made it out of the building, and they hurried into the building Sherlock was in. They must've heard the gun go off. Luckily, none of them had seen you or John. You blended in with the commotion, becoming unnoticed.

Soon, you saw Sherlock being led out by paramedics to an ambulance. You started towards him, wanting to go talk to him, but John held you back, telling you to wait. So, instead you stood back explaining to John everything you knew. The two pills, the taxi driver, all of it.

You glanced over to see a parametic had rapped an orange blanket around Sherlock's shoulders and he looked at it, confused. Lestrade soon walked up to him talking to him about something. As he did, Sherlock made eye contact with you and John and he suddenly stopped talking, standing up. Lestrade seemed to try and stop him but Sherlock shook his head at him, gesturing towards his blanket and you could clearly hear him say, "What now? I'm in shock. Look, I've got a blanket." After a few more words with Lestrade, he walked over to the two of you.

"Y/N here has been explaining everything to me. The two pills, dreadful business. Just dreadful." John stated, as Sherlock smiled slightly glancing at you to John.

"Good shot." He whispered to John.

"Yes, yes. It must have been. Through that window..." John said.

"Well you'd know." Sherlock said looking at him, John gave him a small smile of acknowledgement.

"We'll need to get the powder burns out your finger. I don't suppose you'd serve time for this, but let's avoid the court case. Are you both all right?" Sherlock asked, eyeing both of you and he stuck his hands into his jacket pockets.

"Course I'm alright." John said, you shrugged as a response. You felt tired. Tired and hungry. Not to mention very curious...

"You have just killed a man." Sherlock stated, looking at John.

"Yeah. True. But he wasn't a very nice man." John pointed out as they made their way from the scene. You stood back, looking out as the police walked in and out of the building. Maybe you could swipe the pills from one of the forensics...

"No. No, he wasn't really, was he?" Sherlock asked, raising his eyebrows.

"And frankly, a bloody awful cabbie." John said, causing Sherlock to give a small laugh.

"Yeah, that's true. A very bad cabbie. You should've seen the route we took here." Sherlock stated, starting to giggle. John giggled along with him.

"Stop it, we can't giggle. It's a crime scene, stop." John told him, trying to stop laughing.

"Don't blame me. You shot him!" Sherlock said maybe a bit too loud, they still hadn't noticed you weren't following behind them.

"You could maybe keep your voice down a bit." John said, starting to giggle again. He suddenly stopped when he noticed Sally Donovan staring at them, John didn't think she overheard. "Sorry. Sorry, just... nerves." John said watching her. She turned away, moving on.

"Sorry." Sherlock apologised, watching as Sally walked away. Sherlock suddenly seemed to notice you weren't behind them and he turned around, scanning for you. He saw you walking towards a forensic team of people who were carrying out evidence bags.

"Oh, dear." Sherlock ran off towards you telling John to wait where he was.

When he reached you, you had been trying to talk one of the forensic members into letting you take the evidence bags home that contained the two pills, both in separate containers.

"Y/N." You heard Sherlock call to you and you turned to look at him, he motioned you over and you raised a finger to him as you continued to talk to the man. "For god's sake." Sherlock muttered, grabbing your coat by the collar and pulling you away.

"Sher-Sherlock!" You wriggled from his grasp, as he had pulled you away a couple of feet. The man you had been talking to walked away, along with the pills. There went your chance.

"You think I don't know what you're doing?" He asked, pulling you closer to him so no one would overhear your conversation as you walked.

"What?" You asked innocently. "I just wanted to know, is all."

"Know what?" Sherlock asked.

"If you chose right." You stated, blankly staring at him. "I know you wanted to know too, and I could've got the evidence too if you wouldn't have stopped me!" You crossed your arms as the two of you made your way towards John, who stood watching the two of you.

"You wouldn't have known the one I picked, there's no way. They got mixed up in the chaos." You sighed, knowing he was in fact correct.

"I guess so... but I could've still analysed them." You "pouted", looking up to see John looking from the forensic team to you. "You think he knows?" You suddenly asked, looking over at Sherlock. You'd been referring to if John knew what you were up to. Sherlock nodded slightly.

"He's a bit smarter than we give him credit for." You stated, shoving your hands into your pockets as you walked alongside Sherlock, kicking pebbles as you went.

"Oh, sure. But you know very well we're far more intelligent." Sherlock grinned at you.

"Well, yeah." You stated seriously. "That is a fact." Sherlock gazed at you, almost like he expected more. Everyone always did. Even after you told them about your condition, they expected a smile or kind words... you thought Sherlock was more than that. He looked away, nodding, and you looked at him, surprised. Maybe he was like you thought. You'd finally made it over to John who was looking seriously at you.

"You were going to take the damn pill, weren't you?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at you. You blinked at him.

"Yes, but so was Sherlock. But he was actually going to consume the pill, I just wanted to analyse them." You motioned to Sherlock, and John looked at him questionably.

"What? Course I wasn't. Biding my time. Knew you two would show up." Sherlock stated, you shook your head at him.

"No, you didn't. That's how you two get your kicks, isn't it? Risking your lives to prove you're clever." John sounded almost angry as he said this. "Y/n even almost let you take it, stole my gun and just watched instead of taking the shot."

"Now, why would we do that?" Sherlock asked, glancing at you, hiding his grin. He obviously didn't care you hadn't taken the shot, he knew John would anyway.

"Because you're both idiots." John stated. Sherlock looked at him for a moment, affronted. You knew he was joking, and mocking you and Sherlock for earlier calling him an idiot. Sherlock cracked a grin while you managed to put on a small smile.

"Dinner?" Sherlock asked, looking from you to John.

"Starving." You and John both replied. Sherlock started to lead the way.

"There's a good Chinese place, end of Baker Street, stays open 'til two. You can always tell a good Chinese by examining the bottom third of the door handle-" Sherlock stopped when he noticed John wasn't listening any longer, but staring ahead of the three of you.

Parked outside the college gates was a black car. Standing outside it stood Mycroft and his mysterious assistant, who you never quite knew the name of.

"Guys, that's him. That's the guy I was talking to you about..." John said, staring at him eerily. You couldn't help but sigh at John's scared look at Mycroft. If only he knew...

"I know exactly who that is." Sherlock said, marching towards the sleek black car.
