FEATURED POEM

Hallowe'en Charm
Arthur Guiterman

Fern seed, hemp seed, water of the well,
Bark of wizard hazel-wand, berry of the bay,
Let the fairy gifts of you mingle with the spell,
Guard the precious life and soul of him that's far away!

Oak slip, thorn slip, crystal of the dew,
Morsel of his native earth, shoot of mountain pine,
Lend his arm the strength of you, let his eye be true,
Send him like the thunderbolt to break the foeman's line!

Rose leaf, elm leaf, kernel of the wheat,
Airy waft of thistledown, feather of the wren,
Bring him peace and happiness, let his dream be sweet,
Take my secret thought to him and call him home again!

Lyttlejoe's Busted Gulch Volume 12:

It seems there is a group of kids on Devil's Mountain that need some help, Raven is looking into it.  Leo's girlfriend Patty finally made it to BG to take Leo home.  Coal Boon threatened Raven, wanting to know the whereabouts of Tiger.  Myna is having some crazy cravings and decided to make a batch of potato, tomato soup with pickles.  Rue and Jacob spent an afternoon together at the circus, Rue was able to heal one of the big cats.  Then they had a picnic out at the spring, Jacob's intentions seemed very clear, but Rue isn't going to be hurt again.  Strop's razor stopped just short of really hurting Harriet, as she pulled a gun on him.  He explained everything to her and apologized.  However, Harriet's reaction to the situation was unexpected.  Rue and Jacob shared their stories with one another and realized they could only be friends.

If you want to find out what's next, head on over to The Storytellers Saloon and check out Lyttlejoe's Busted Gulch Volume 12!!  Don't forget to add it to your reading list, new chapters are posted daily!

flash-fiction-forum

We all fear something, some of us have much more deep-rooted fears, but in general we all have fear. Even if you don't, you have, at some point in your life had the sensation of fear.

This month's challenge will be a crossover with the Poets Pub and in keeping with the tradition of the Pub, we will be offering a unique challenge.

You have just 300 words to give us your story of fear. Any kind of fear.

You can write in the traditional flash fiction form, but for this challenge we will be offering you the opportunity to write in Poetry form. Extra consideration will be given to stories written Poetically. You can use any form you want to and the more creative the better.

It will not be the basis for the winner, but you will get extra brownie points for writing in a Poetry form and we will post all Poetic stories in the Halloween collection at the Poets Pub.

The winner of this challenge will also be eligible for the Poet of the Year contest at the Poets Pub.

So pop over to the FFF and become a part of this challenge and help us save this fledgling site. We really need your support.

OLD/NEW/CONTINUING WORKS

A Message from @MysteriousDryad

In the beginning of Week 5 (September 30th) of this poetry challenge, I moved to volume 2. Couple days later I wrote 15 poems one day and met my goal of 50 poems by the end of the week, to which I'm proud of. Currently there is 83 poems in my second collection and in total I have written 283 poems since the first of September. Honestly, I would not have gotten this far without Bill for which I'm very grateful for.

If any of you Pubbers want to do a collaboration with me, feel free to shoot me a couple lines. I like to read and work with other poets because of everyone writes. Every poem, every poet is different from one another that's why I like looking and working with others to see how everyone writes. Anyways, poet or not, if you wanna send me a few lines and let's see where our creativity takes up, I don't bite ;)

If any of y'all are interested in Bill and I's progress in this challenge feel free to check out collections.

Happy reading Pubbers!

If you would like to share any of your old/new/continuing works on your personal profile, please send us  a private message and we will include it here.

PERSONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

If you would like to share any personal announcements, birthday, anniversary, Wattpad anniversary, new books published or anything else, please do not hesitate to send us a Private Message and we will get it in here.

WORLD POETS

Nocturne
By Ruben Dario

Silence of the night , a sad, nocturnal
silence--Why does my soul tremble so?
I hear the humming of my blood,
and a soft storm passes through my brain.
Insomnia! Not to be able to sleep, and yet
to dream. I am the autospecimen
of spiritual dissection, the auto-Hamlet!
To dilute my sadness
in the wine of the night
in the marvelous crystal of the dark--
And I ask myself: When will the dawn come?
Someone has closed a door--
Someone has walked past--
The clock has rung three--If only it were She!--
