[I will illustrate my story using my dream cast of --Richard Armitage for Matthew Drake, Kate Beckinsale for Jocelyn Burrows, Brenda Blethyn for Aunt Madge, Michael Crawford for Michael Ferguson, Gina McKee for Marcia Glass, and others.]

Author's Mature Content Note:  "Lost & Found" is story with mature themes (D for drama and S for sensuality) of love and relationships.  Most chapters will be PG or PG-13. However, if you are unable or unwilling to attend a movie with the ratings I provide, then please do not read that chapter.  This is my disclaimer.

Recap from the previous installment:  Matthew and Jocie spend a pleasant Friday evening together in her hotel room--eating dinner while completing the Times crossword puzzle and the jet lagged Jocie falling asleep while Matthew reads out aloud from the Readers Digest.  Matthew ends up napping, too--along side Jocie in her bed, but chastely.  However, Matthew begins to display feelings for Jocie by embracing her as they lie in bed and kissing her cheek in parting.  Jocie is feeling uncertain, so she plans to call Matthew's speech therapist before Jocie sees him again Saturday morning.

"Lost and Found" (Revised),  Ch 7:  More than a Feeling

Early the next day, Saturday August 14th, Jocelyn wakes up feeling refreshed and positive.  But she knows that part of her cheerfulness is due to meeting and getting to know the sensitive and sweet Matthew and his Aunt Madge.  And though Jocie wants to go with the flow and be in the moment with Matthew, she is also concerned about his health and recovery from the accident and his loss.  So Jocie and calls Marcia Glass, Matthew's Speech Therapist, to ask her about Matthew's emotions that seem to be coming to the surface.

Jocie on phone:  "Hi Marcia, this is Jocelyn Burrows, Matthew Drake's friend."

Marcia G ST on phone:  "Oh hello Jocelyn, what can I do for you" [(2) right].

Jocie on phone:  "Well, since I am going to be spending some time with Matthew again today, I wanted to discuss boundaries with you—especially with regard to his emotions."

Marcia G ST on phone:  "What do you mean?   Matthew doesn't display emotions yet."

Jocie on phone:  "Actually, he seems to be showing some emotions with me." Jocie [(3) right]  states with some trepidation.

Marcia G ST on phone:  "Oh?"

Jocie on phone:  "Yes.   Although, Matthew was partially parroting Aunt Madge's boyfriend Michael's behavior when he put his arm around my shoulders.  Matthew and I had also had a moment earlier in the evening when I thought that he might be going to kiss me."

Marcia G ST on phone:  Marcia's eyes widen--which  Jocie can't see over the phone.  But Marcia maintains her professional detached demeanor as she explores this new development with Matthew.  "Describe the situation to me."

Jocie on phone:  "Well, after dinner in my hotel room we had finished the Reader's Digest funny stories.  But I had long since fallen asleep—jet lag and lots of walking yesterday.  So, Matthew carried me to the bed, removed my shoes for me, and covered me with the throw blanket.  Then, he sat up in the bed and watched tv while I slept.  But, at some point he turned off the tv and laid down and went to sleep, too.  I guess we kind of cuddled in our sleep—fully clothed, mind you."  Jocie says quickly.

Marcia G ST on phone:  "Uh huh."  Marcia says noncommittally, masking her definite interest in Jocelyn's unfolding story about Matthew.

Jocie on phone:  "So, we were late getting to the lobby and Aunt Madge had to phone my room—which woke us up.  I had to lean over Matthew to answer the phone.  And then when I leaned over Matthew again to put the phone back in its cradle, he put his arms around me and he looked like he was going to kiss me."

Marcia G ST on phone:  "And?"  Marcia asks very keenly.

Jocie on phone:  "Well, I decided to interrupt him and instead I thanked Matthew for a nice evening and I kissed his cheek.  And then he said the same to me and he kissed my cheek.  Then we stood up, put our shoes on, and went down to the lobby.  Oh, and then after he had put his arms around me in the lobby—mirroring his Aunt Madge and Michael--and we said our goodbyes for the evening, he then started to follow me back to the elevators as I was heading to my room.  Then, when Madge and I redirected him to her, Matthew gave me a goodnight kiss on my cheek." Jocie pauses, slightly out of breath.  Jocie is both thrilled and unnerved by Matthew's possible romantic behavior toward her.   "So, what do you think about Matthew's behavior with me?"

Marcia G ST on phone:  "Well, you were there.  What do you think Matthew was feeling?"  Marcia uses the standard therapist ploy of asking a probing question, rather than providing an answer.

Jocie on phone:  "Feeling?  I'm not sure.  He asked to see me again today and we've arranged to meet at 10:30am for site seeing and lunch today.  I just don't want to be leading him on—nor do I want to be his emotion therapy experiment.  Though, of course, Matthew is not intentionally doing that.  I mean I think he likes me and I like him.  We're getting to know each other.  And, Matthew probably misses that human connection for love and friendship in his life—and I'm ... handy.  But, I don't know what he's ready for emotionally and I don't want to set back his recovery—by either he and I developing an emotional relationship or by me distancing myself from him and that upsetting him.  It just seems like a mine field. Hhhh!"  Jocie sighs.

Marcia G ST on phone:  "Answer me this, Jocelyn.  If Matthew weren't recovering from an injury, how would you let yourself feel about him?  I mean, he is a handsome bloke."  Marcia smiles.  She may be a professional--and to her, Matthew is off limits.  But she is still human.

Jocie on phone:  "Yes, Matthew is very handsome—and sweet.  But, I don't want to be his transitional romantic relationship that he dumps when he is well again."  Jocie's emotions are still a bit raw since she recently ended her long term relationship before heading to London.

Marcia G ST on phone:  "Ah.  I think we've gotten to the core issue—will your investment of time with Matthew be valued and appreciated by him?

Jocie on phone:  "Yes, I guess that's it." Jocie admits hesitantly.

Marcia G ST on phone: "I don't know if we can answer that at this time.  All I know is that since Matthew started interacting with you, he has made tremendous strides in his recovery.  And that is a very good thing for him.  Only you can decide for yourself if your interaction with Matthew is a good thing for you, Jocelyn."

Jocie on phone:  "Of course.  Well, thanks Marcia.  You've given me more to think about than when I called you.  Bye."

Marcia G ST on phone:  "Bye.  Jocelyn, please call me any time you have another question or just want to talk."

Jocie hangs ups her hotel room wireless phone--and just stares at it.  What am I doing?  She asks herself.  I have just gotten out of a relationship.   I shouldn't jump into another one.

Jocie's former fiance's possessiveness with regard to her made it difficult for Jocie to make choices for herself.  She felt suffocated by his control and manipulation of her.  She didn't actively seek such an unhealthy relationship.  He seemed so nice in the beginning--complimenting her and going out of his way to please her.  But over time, bit by bit , he would say that he loved her, then he would take something away from her--asking her not to see so much of a friend of hers he didn't like, or suggest that she color her hair a different shade of brown, calling her  by the rather sterile sounding Joc  rather than her preferred family nickname of Jocie, dismissing her wish to travel beyond the U.S. when she had excitedly obtained her passport in preparation for an upcoming overseas education conference that she was to have left for last week but she didn't because he convinced her that her place was by his side not gallivanting around at a professional conference, or he would jokingly cut her off in conversations with others by condescendingly telling others that she didn't know what she was talking about, but she looked so cute doing it.  His manipulation of her had all happened so gradually that Jocie couldn't pin point the exact moment that things began to change.

But Jocie had finally had enough when she watched her now former fiance stare menacingly at a toddler boy noisily dashing around his mother in the grocery store--which made the child run fearfully back to his mother.  That was when Jocie resolved--two days ago--that this man would never be the father of her children.  And she ended their engagement by text while he was at work on Thursday afternoon--after she had packed up and stored her few possessions from their shared apartment and she had headed to the airport to fly to London overnight, exchanging her cancelled but deferred conference air fare ticket that she had paid for herself, for a flight to London.  She did not tell him where she was going in her text.   And she made certain that he could not contact her by blocking his phone number.   Jocie hopes that he won't try to find her--and that he will move on with his life, as she hopes to move on with her life.

Seven hours later when Jocie touched down in this new country, England yesterday, she finally felt free.  Her meeting and getting to know Matthew and Aunt Madge are a bonus in Jocie's mind.  And Jocie doesn't feel that Matthew has attached himself too quickly to her--nor does she feel that she has attached herself to him too soon.  Maybe their meeting was fate, and Matthew is her destiny--if she will claim it.  So Jocie decides for herself to be open to whatever happens between she and Matthew--whether it is friendship, or love--and to let her heart guide her truly this time.

***

So with a renewed sense of self confidence--after reflecting upon her own situation and the direction that  she wants her life to take--Jocie walks into Aunt Madge's flower shop around 10:30am Saturday morning, the time when she and Matthew planned to meet today.  Matthew stands up politely from the stool he's sitting on when Jocelyn enters the shop.  Matthew is waiting for her with a shyly eager look on his face.  He had been a little afraid that he had dreamed up the caring and lovely Jocelyn--since the residual effects of the now only at bed time calming medicine tends to slightly cloud his mind in the morning.  But here she is--and she is coming to see him.

Matthew:  "Good morning, Jocelyn."  Matthew [(4) right]  smiles and he shyly hands her a single stem pink rose.

He likes her effortless beauty with her face sparing of much makeup and her hair haphazardly pulled together into a softly tousled  up do.

Jocie:  ""Good morning, Matthew.  For me?"  Jocie asks in shy astonishment [(5) right].  Matthew nods sheepishly. "Thank you, Matthew.  That was very thoughtful of you."  Jocelyn smiles at Matthew's kind gesture as she takes the rose and sniffs it.  She hasn't received flowers--or, a flower--for a very long time.  And well, they are in a flower shop, so Matthew's gift to her is both logical and practical, she reasons.  But the look in his eyes tells her that his gift is more than merely practical. "Good morning Aunt Madge."  Jocie smiles and walks over to Aunt Madge and gives her a peck on her cheek.

Aunt Madge:  "Good Morning, Jocelyn Dear.  Matthew has been waiting patiently for you for 15 minutes."  Aunt Madge smiles sweetly at seeing how hesitantly Jocelyn accepted Matthew's offered gift of a rose.   But Aunt Madge hopes that Jocelyn doesn't read too much into her nephew Matthew's small gift.

Matthew:  "I have been waiting for you." He smiles warmly at Jocelyn.   Jocie appreciatively notices Matthew's neatly trimmed hair and his slightly stubbled cheeks.  "I got off work early today."  Matthew pivots up upon the balls of his feet, then settles back down again on the heels of his feet.  Matthew feels completely happy with being with Jocelyn again.

Jocie:  "Well, I'm armed with my tourist map."  She holds it up in the air.  "So, maybe we can see  the  London Botanical Gardens before lunch today.  Since I don't know how long we'll be, let's plan to eat out for lunch somewhere."  Matthew stares at Jocelyn, liking that they will spend several hours again with each other today.    "But, Aunt Madge you have my cell phone number and I have yours if we need to reach each other."  Jocie says somewhat too emphatically--as if her plan for the day is logical and not needing alterations. Then she remembers not to be so  controlling--like someone else would have been.  "That is, if that is alright with you, Matthew.  We can trade off choosing where we go."  She suggests to try to give them each equal say in their outing plans today.

Matthew: "That sounds fine, Jocelyn, thank you."  Matthew nods in agreement.

Aunt Madge:  "Yes, Jocelyn Dear.  Now you and Matthew  have a good time."  Aunt Madge still thinks of Matthew as being a child--as if he is going on a play date.

Matthew:  "We will."

Matthew smiles and walks over to Jocelyn and holds out his hand to her.  Jocie smiles and clasps his hand in hers and then they walk out of the flower shop together.  They look like any other couple strolling to the bus stop.  Matthew stands up to his full height--towering over most people, and certainly over Jocie. But she doesn't feel intimidated.  Matthew merely glances at her map and discerns which bus route they need to take--having to switch buses only once.  He navigates them to the London Botanical Gardens rather effortlessly. You see, now that it is almost mid day, Matthew's calming medicine that he took from the night before is wearing off.  So Matthew is becoming less childlike, and more like himself.

***

Jocelyn and Matthew have a lovely stroll through the London Botanical Gardens (her choice) and then they enjoy lunch at a nearby local restaurant  (his choice).  Their conversation flows easily as they fracture the scientific names of the plants and flowers.  A particular delight is the butterfly garden where the butterflies are all around them--like a butterfly cloud.  Matthew and Jocie are so enjoying themselves that they do not notice the appreciative glances that they receive for the lovely young couple they seemingly represent.  They would have gone on to see more of the large garden, but they needed to return to the flower shop in mid afternoon, earlier than they had originally planned.

Aunt Madge had called Matthew to say that her afternoon helper girl still couldn't come in and she needs Matthew at the shop for when she gets busy.  Jocie decides to tag along to the flower shop and see if she can help.  Matthew and Jocie walk into a frenzied scene of a harried Aunt Madge [(6) right]  overrun with customers.

Aunt Madge: "Ooooh!   Thank you for coming back so soon, my Dears!  I don't know what I would have done without you!  Matthew, Dear."  Aunt Madge embraces her nephew and Jocelyn quickly, but warmly.  "Matthew, Please help those people pay for their orders at the register, whilst I go into the back to make a rush order for corsages and boutonnieres for an impromptu wedding this afternoon."

Matthew:  "Of course, Aunt Madge."  Matthew often helps out in this way at the checkout register.  So it doesn't faze him.  Though today is quite a bit busier than the flower shop usually is when Matthew helps out, he does not become agitated.  Matthew smiles at Jocelyn as he walks behind the counter to the register to tend to the customers ready to check out with their flower purchases.

Jocie: "Uh. Should I stay and help Matthew out here or help you, Aunt Madge? Or would I just get in the way?"

Aunt Madge:  "Come with me!" Aunt Madge smiles at having a flower helper afterall as she guides Jocelyn to the back of her flower shop. "Have you arranged flowers before, Jocelyn Dear?"   Aunt Madge asks hopefully as she starts grabbing the flowers and greens that she will need from the refrigerated case.

Jocie:   "No." Jocie replies wincingly.

Aunt Madge: "Hhhhh!"  Aunt Madge sighs in disappointment as she lays her bunches of fresh fern leaves, baby's breath, and large and small flowers onto her work table.

Sensing that Aunt Madge is overwhelmed, Jocie stands ready to assist her.

Jocie: "What can I do to help?"  Jocie asks her in earnest.

Aunt Madge:  "Well, maybe you can help me a little bit getting my supplies organized--it will go faster that way. And I have to make six boutonnieres..."   She points to samples on the table.  "... and six corsages--as well as,  a bridal bouquet."  Aunt Madge wipes her now perspiring forehead with the back of her wrist, which also moves the hair out of her eyes.

Looking at the nearly identical corsage and boutonniere examples that she picks up and twirls around, Jocelyn asks the obvious question.

Jocie:   "What is the difference between a corsage and a boutonniere?"

Aunt Madge: Separating her flower bundles into individual stems, Aunt Madge doesn't skip a beat.  "About 3 pounds.  Ha ha ha ha ha!"

Jocie:  "Ha ha ha ha ha! "

Aunt Madge:  "And, the ladies can also choose a wrist band versus a pin fastener corsage adornment.  Now!  Here are my burgundy and my pink ribbon bolts.  I need six sets of 18 inches of ribbon for each color."

Jocie: "I can do that!" Jocie smiles at being useful as she begins to measure and cut the ribbon. Measure twice and cut once is always her motto.

So for the next twenty minutes, Aunt Madge quickly but adroitly makes six corsages, six boutonnieres and one bridal bouquet.  Jocelyn's role is to cut and hand her the ribbons  for each of them--with a longer length of ribbon used for the bouquet since it wraps around the flower stems where the bride will hold them--and then Jocelyn carefully places each of the boutonnieres or corsages in their respective long and narrow clear plastic tissue filled boxes with plenty of tissue buffering the delicate posies.

Then while Aunt Madge takes a little longer working on the bridal bouquet, Jocie tries to make a corsage--with dismal results.

Placing the bridal bouquet in its own clear plastic  square box, Aunt Madge looks up and asks.

Aunt Madge:  "How is your corsage coming along there, Jocelyn Dear?"

Holding up her finished creation that could best be described as an unfortunate confluence of flora, Jocie surveys her handiwork.

Jocie: "I watched you layer the flower and plant elements in the corsages, but mine didn't turn out as nicely as yours did."  Jocie pouts.

Aunt Madge: At a loss to say something positive about Jocelyn's Frankenstein like corsage--the monster was also patched together haphazardly--Aunt Madge smiles supportively and settles on .  "Jocelyn Dear, In life, there are flower designers and flower appreciators.  I believe,Jocelyn, that you are firmly in the latter group.  Ha ha ha!"

Jocie: "Ha ha ha!  I agree."  Laughing and not taking offense at Aunt Madge gently poking fun at Jocie's lack of flower designing skills or talent, Jocie smiles and picks up the pink rose that Matthew gave her earlier and sniffs it again.  It's faint fragrance still liltingly charming her heart.

Then Jocie and Aunt Madge are interrupted.  Poking his head into the back flower work room, Matthew calls out.

Matthew: "Aunt Madge?  They're here for the wedding order."

Aunt Madge: "Ooh!   Just in time!"

So Jocie carries the corsages and boutonnieres boxes and Aunt Madge carries the bridal bouquet box to the front of her flower shop.   After finalizing the sale, another satisfied customer leaves Aunt Madge's flower shop.  That's the flower business for you--beauty and artistry creating lovely flower designs, and rushed last minute orders.  Aunt Madge is thinking of hanging an adapted organizational phrase above her door--the six P's, poor planning promotes pitifully poor posies.

***

Later on Saturday, after everyone showers and dresses up--with Jocie's long hair falling romantically in waves around her shoulders--Saturday evening dinner for Matthew and Jocelyn is spent with Aunt Madge and her boyfriend Michael Ferguson at another local non pub restaurant down the lane that has some ambience--they don't allow you to throw your peanut shells on the floor.  Of course Michael's idea of a Saturday night date with Madge doesn't include another couple--because he has to curb his romantic tendencies since he has an audience. But Michael accepts the situation.

And the four of them have enjoyable meals and lively conversations. It turns out that raconteur Matthew has quite a few stories about adventures in postal addressing--the foibles of using cursive versus printing the addresses,  the unwise use of easily smudged pencil versus ink, and the amusement of people putting their own address on the addressee spot and the address of whom they want it to go to in the return address spot without postage in hopes that their letter will be delivered to its intended destination without the cost of a stamp.  Matthew's attention to detail is very plain when it comes to mail. And his postal addressing misadventures storytelling has everyone in laughing in stitches.  The moral recaps of Matthew's postal stories are:   got stamps (instead of got milk); if a river runs through it (or any other scenic landscape feature) the letter needs a zip code; and every letter tells a story, if you forget to seal it.  *wink*

Then when it is time for Jocelyn to return to her hotel for the night around 10pm, Matthew wants to walk her there as a safety precaution.  So the two couples stroll the two blocks over hand in hand and a bit spaced apart from each other. This way Michael and Madge can have a private conversation, and Matthew and Jocie can have a private conversation.

When they reach the hotel, they walk into the lobby--with Aunt Madge and Michael choosing to head into the bar  to give Matthew and Jocelyn some privacy in saying good night to each other, and they, also, wish some privacy.  However a lobby is still not a very private place, so Jocie tugs on Matthew's arm and guides him past the bar to an adjacent enclosed but open air courtyard that sometimes serves as over flow seating, but is empty tonight.  All that remains are some wrought iron seating arrangements and lights strung in the trees creating a romantic glow.

Jocie still carries her rose from Matthew, brushing the petals' velvety softness against her cheek.  Mathew is pleased that she seems to like his small gift. Then Matthew caresses her cheek and he looks shyly at Jocelyn longingly.  Gazing into Jocelyn's chocolaty brown eyes, Matthew smiles and murmurs in his deep baritone voice, with barely a halting manner in his speech.

Matthew: "Jocelyn, I feel, ... well, I feel, that I am becoming  fond of you."  His arms aching to embrace her, they remain at his side--one hand clasped in hers--and he leans in closer to her and whispers into her ear.  "Quite fond of you." [(7) right]

Jocie smiles, but she does not look up at him, not  just yet.  With her face near his open shirt collar, she sniffs Matthew's clean fresh masculine scent of sandalwood musk.

Jocie:   "And I am becoming fond of you, Matthew."  Jocie slowly raises her chin until she is gazing into Matthew's  blue eyes.

Matthew:  Matthew tilts his head in slight bemusement.  "It sounds like there is a but coming."

Jocie: "Yes.  Well,  It's just that I ..."  Jocie feels that she must be honest with Matthew about her emotions and feelings.   Then she reveals without further preamble.  "Matthew, I broke it off with my fiancé before I came to London."

Matthew:  Matthew stiffens and takes a measured step back from her--as a gentleman should, if a lady is not interested in him. His face saddens.    "Oh! I'm sorry.  Are you hoping to get back together with him?" Matthew asks politely, but he feels terribly disappointed--because he is beginning to feel more for Jocelyn.

Jocie: "No!"  Jocie rushes to say.  "I ?... no."  She whispers in a hushed tone.    "I do not want to ever see him again."  Jocie shakes her head rather determinedly, and she tightly grips the stem of her rose from Matthew.

Matthew: Sensing her pent up anger, he asks her pointedly, worriedly.  "Did he hurt you, Jocelyn?  Is that why you broke up?"  He feels her hand start to retract from his hand.  "I'm sorry.  You don't have to speak about it if it is too painful."  Matthew knows about loss and pain.  He never speaks about the car accident that claimed the lives of his wife and son.

Jocie: "Thank you.   I just want to say that, he did not treat me well--requiring me to do things his way all of the time and for me to make changes to myself as he wished.  And I bent to his wishes--losing myself and  who I wanted to be in the process."

Matthew:  "Well, if it is any consolation.  I don't want to change you one bit."  Matthew caresses her face with his index finger.  "I think you are perfect, just the way you are.  Hhhh!"

Jocie: "Thank you, Matthew.  That's  ... refreshing.  Ha ha ha!"  Jocie laughs softly, trying to make light of her failed past relationship.    "And I think that you're quite special, too.  You seemed to do well today with the crowds at the Botanical Gardens and in Aunt Madge's  busy flower shop.  Do you feel alright?"  She asks in concern as she caresses his face.

Matthew:  Matthew almost purrs in his deeply timberous baritone. "I do feel fine, when I'm with you."  Taking one step toward her again, Matthew pulls Jocelyn into a loose embrace.

Jocelyn: "Hhhh!"  She gasps is surprise at their bodies touching, but not pressing against each other. Her arms lay atop his muscular arms.

Matthew  lowers his face to Jocelyn's, but he stops just before their lips touch.

Matthew:  "Jocelyn? I feel a connection with you.  Something that I haven't felt,  for a long time."  Matthew's face saddens.  It is true, with Matthew having shut himself away from other people and his emotions for two years since the car accident--aided by the calming medicine he was on, but now reduced--he existed as a disaffected person, a disconnected person.  "Jocelyn?  May I, ... may I give you a good night kiss, please?"  Matthew asks politely, shyly nervous in contemplating even the small intimacy of a first kiss.

Jocie does not pull away from Matthew, staying standing within his loose embrace in the  courtyard [(8) right].    Feeling the warmth of Matthew's breath upon her neck, Jocie  believes that her answer to Matthew might be a turning point--for each of them.   Straining her face upward to press her lips to his, she sighs in a whisper.

Jocie:  "Yesss!"

Matthew and Jocie kiss together on their lips for the very first time.  They are shy and hesitant kisses.  With aching tenderness, Matthew's kisses are petal soft, taking care not to be too bold since he now realizes that Jocelyn needs cherishing and understanding and patience.  As Jocelyn's arms surround Matthew's shoulders, they both deepen their kisses--pressing their lips together in more urgent couplings--now feeling each others' plumply fleshed lips fully  upon their own lips.  For each of them, it has been too long since they were with someone who cared and loved them unconditionally.  They feel exhilarated in their new found intimacy with one another.  And yet, they each realize the necessity for restraint.  And their kisses do not become more passionate, as they reluctantly pull away from each other, but still holding hands.  Matthew and Jocie gaze lovingly at each other, then they embrace again--Matthew rocking her back and forth in his arms.  They have reached a turning point in their relationship.

Matthew wants to ask Jocelyn when he will see her again. But he doesn't want to seem too assertive--mindful that she has just removed herself  from a relationship where she felt dominated.  And Jocelyn, mindful of Matthew's healing condition--despite how well he seems just now when they were kissing, and all day really--she  thinks that a day or two apart from each other could provide some clarity about where their relationship might be heading. Besides, Jocie has to visit the U.S. Consulate in London on Monday about her work visa application and then start her job hunt.  So that will keep her occupied and distracted for several hours.  Though she guesses that Matthew will still creep into her thoughts--and he will certainly enter into her dreams tonight, as she will for his dreams.

Then Matthew and Jocie walk back into her hotel lobby where Madge and Michael are sitting and waiting patiently--them having their own tete a tete.  The four of them say their farewells for the evening--everyone returning to their own beds.  And without clarifying when and if they might see each other again, Jocie and Matthew each wonder what the next few days will bring.
